1. I agree spoonbill, biggest problem today is that kids are given everything instead of having to earn it. Then they get to the high school level or even sometimes at their first job and cant understand why they get cut or fired for not working hard. Its sad really, parents think they are protecting their kids by keeping them from heartache early but in reality thats how you learn and grow stronger. Instead by delaying that process it just makes it worse and sometimes creates an adult that is worthless and blaming others their whole life.

PNG Freshman team had there cut today, several good players were cut that are passing, but were told they were to short. Since when did your size matter in Baseball. Also there are 8 players that made the team that are failing at this time. Im not sure how "no pass no play reads but you can bet when i talk to the UIL they will be able to clear it up. There are some that couldnt play basketball due to grades and now here we are in baseball season. I hope the PNG coaches start a player that is failing, we will love to see that. Freshman that will be on Varsity, **deleted**

**Mod edit**  This is not the place to post heresay about specific kids grades.  Please remember you are talking about 14-18 year old kids here.  Consider this your 1st warning

Getting cut as a freshmen might turn out to be a blessing in disguise. Mine was cut as a freshman, (southpaw pitcher no-less). Rained the week of tryouts and coaches didn't even see him throw. Went home and taped that days' date on his bedroom door and hasn't quit working his tail off since. Senior in college, weekend starter, has paid for about 85% of his college education, and if healthy, will be drafted June 4th. Playing with a chip on your shoulder and out to prove folks wrong, can sometimes really elevate your game.
Just my "glass half-full" story.  ;)

Y'all are crying because y'all have 40+ kids trying out...At Lee we had 30 maybe 35 kids try out and that number includes the 8 or 9 kids that were on the Varisty roster last year...

5. Just saw this list so here are a few I know.

#1, Peter Gardere, also QB for UT, did not go to Baytown Lee lol. He went to Houston Lee.

#2) West Brook - Justin Wise '96 played at Lamar, not sure if he played any minor league ball or not
Pete Willets - Collin County JC, Houston Baptist

#3) Baytown Lee- Keith Hart played at Lubbock Christian 99' and was naia player of the year
also played some minor league ball for the red sox
Pat Holmes 99', San Jac, Kansas

#4)Baytown Sterling -
Russell Chandler '94 - Houston Baptist
Sean Salinas  96' not 97'
Kade Johnson 97' UT, Seminole JC, drafted 2nd round brewers in 99'
Dustin Lansford '98 McClennan JC, drafted 5th round brewers in 99'
Chris Fadal 96', Houston Baptist
Brandon Maricle 97' - McClennan JC, Arkansas State

6. Yeah I was talking about LaPorte having open enrollment. I had spoken to a coach at LaPorte who told me he had a kid from Baytown who enrolled in LaPorte but just had to provide his own transportation in which he did. He told me he was MVP of the district but until now the name had not clicked. Wow what a big loss for Lee the past two years, yikes.
