  1.   Kirkland (Baylor) and Green (Arkansas) should dominate on a regular night. Both have 90 capacity with decent hammer, especially Kirkland's.   Seen both, Dog's sticks will have to step it up with pitching they are not accustom to.   SS Wendell is a legit hitter, the team has power in the 1-6 sots in the line up. Have to also give Westmoreland the edge bringing in 5oo career wins.   Magnolia can have defensive lapses, so won't have to wait long to see what happens.
  2.   Interesting that just a week ago Montgomery was just hoping to make playoffs in district 17. Very young team with Hollub and Williams setting the pace as seniors.
  3.   Does Coach Long post on the Maxpreps? I can figure out district stats on that I believe for individual players.
  4.    Could you get the "total" stats with AB's, W, K OBP, etc ? Is there any District stats with every category I can get? Brenham's website does not show them. Thanks.
  5.   ABSOLUTELY, they have never drafted one kid. Having followed them for the last 6 years they come pretty close, whereas Baseball America is more known for their minor league coverage. IMO some kids down here missing for sure. The local scouts can fix that.
  6.     Here you go baberuth, posted off the national rankings on new post for the top ten in Texas. Personally think that kids like Gabby, Sonnier, Seely, etc all should be present on this prospect list, and higher than ranked better, seen them play!
  7.   Listed with their ranking nationally in top 100, this is the top Texas 10   10  Josh Bell of Jesuit (Dallas)   30  Trevor Story ss Irving   41  Matt Dean  ss The Colony   47  Daniel Mengden rhp/c Westside   49  Ricardo Jacquez rhp Franklin El Paso   58  Brian Brickhouse rhp Woodlands   67  Patrick Leonard  ss p  St Thomas   70  Chris McFarland  mif  Lufkin   78  Drake Roberts  ss  Brenham   99  Parker French rhp  Dripping Springs
  8.     Just saw where Perfect Game has the nations highschool teams ranked by region, ours being grouped with our friendly neighbor to the north. They also do not distinguish classifications or private schools, just an overall best team rating. Of course the two Oklahoma teams that have two of the top 2 pitchers in the nation are number one and two, but here is the top ten listing of our area's teams.     3  FB Clemmens     4  Brenham     5  CC Carroll     7  Woodlands (not sure this wasn't after their last two losses)     8 Lamar     9  St Pius     12  CC Calallen     13  Langham Creek     15  Klein Collins     20 Katy   21 Memorial     22 Lufkin
  9.       In my first look I didn't see Gabby, which I know the local experts are on, might have missed him, sure hope he is up there, I do remember Kellogg of Caney Creek being a fast rising name as far as being kinda close to the area.
  10.     I have in the "Triangle Area" and I will include Lufkin, because of Chris McFarland who is # 70, then they have Reggie Wilson at #381, Amir Jaili at #415, and Reed Seely at # 444.      When it gets to 500, they quit with the numeration, but still list a bunch more, I do remember Austin Stone being the first name after 500. I will have to go double check that list to make sure I get everybody. Scouting News posted their's also about 2 week ago, I will look that up too. If you want all of south Texas, it will take me a while, guessing about 30 or 40. Glad to see these kids in the hunt. I personally think a few of these boys are underrated, especially Seely.
  11.   With just over a month till the 2011 PG releases their latest High School Draft list, possibly one more to come toward the end of May. There are some "moving up" indications taking place, most notably will be that of Wayne Taylor, catcher at Memorial. He just completed a hitting a home run in 9 straight games, mind you in a very competitive district, (which also factors into his ranking rise). He is currently sitting at #182, but could possibly climb into the top 100, but could even break into top 50.   Also, in the "Top 100" most Texas boys in the top 50 are out of the DFW area. We have a few in South Texas in the "Top 100" and quite a few sprinkled throughout the top 500, with a few listed as "rising". Probbaly one of the best draft years college, juco, and highschool combined in years.
  12.     Langford is way under ranked as Ricefan witnessed. Decent at 3b also.      Ricefan, heard Williamson was sittting on 89 and touched 91? Great two wayer for Rice. How was that game?
  13.   Rawlings All American 2011 list is posted, congrats to all. ( Besides national, they also posted their Texas team)
  14.   Great topic, I always felt when reading local papers about games, you typically receive only significant details about offensive execution and seldom defensive plays that alter the course of a game. Gets a little better at the collegiate level.
  15.   Evans was "effectively wild" but still impressed.  The presence of the scouting community definitely posed some tightness for him as well as all involved.   Josh Bell improved his draft stock considerably with his weekend performance, even talk of a"Rendon" status by one scouting director. Watchout as he shoots out of the top tier first rounder.
  16.     Bolcereck in my estimation should have been there, where not quite sure, probably in the 350 mark. I believe that James should be top 250, and surely Gabby and Sonnier should be tagged somewhere  near there also.     I will be catching some tournament games in the triangle area, I made a note on the Stone kid, where we he be at the next few weekends?     Any poll that is based just on high school stats such as Baseball America , Max Preps, aren't much use to the scouting community. Allen Simpson who started Baseball America sold out a couple of years ago and has been a key component in Perfect Game becoming the the leading source for high school players. I have a scout level subscription to get the write ups on players, if any of you would private message I will help answer any questions on proprietary info for your boy when time allows. Be patient as I travel this time of year. The resource of PG for highschoolers is tremendous. If you are covering the minor leagues,  top pro prospects, BA still is hands on.     Interesting break downs on 2011 postion players on PG this morning, not sure if it is available without subscription, but each postion is very keenly written.     Good luck to all, heading from Woodlands to Round Rock.
  17.       Still can't acknowledge the players named in the Beaumont area huh? My only opinion is that Seely is underrated in this grouping and yes I agree some kids mentioned are overlooked. that being said, I will once again, congratulate those listed. Pretty simple, huh? Offended no, amused hell ya.
  18.     Didn't mean to hit some nerves, just posting what was written, nothing more, nothing less. Certainly some project out in the future, say after college, doesn't mean that some boys aren't players.     Didn't expect any reaction such as this, but Dad's opinions are usually amusing, unfortunately I was hoping for more of a congratulatory context for those who were listed, but might have been expecting too much from those who can't be happy about any SE Texas boys who were named. Sorry to bring out the haters.     If you remember, I stated these will change, and I also stated it was for discussion banter. I am truly sorry for seeing not one kid was congratulated by anyone. Oh well, at least no Mom's went nuts. If you wish, I won't provide any more information that "might be insensitive" to others. Sign of the times we live in. Well, I CONGRATULATE the triangle boys in spite of who it offends.
  19.     I will double check that report. There are quite a few who are listed that never played a PG event. They have scouts continually calling in information on boys who they feel are draft material.     Remember to that these are only "polls" taken from local and national sources and interest shown at the MLB club's front office. BUT , still just a poll. Gives us something else to talk about and entertain ourselves.
  20.     Dell Diamond will be the epicenter of high school baseball as the national crosscheckers and directors descend to watch a talent laden tournament featuring some of Texas best. Perfect Game just announced the Round Rock / Brenham game will be their "National Game of The Week" and their filming crews will be there to get scouting reports on some of Texas' top talent.     Match ups include some of Texas top talent matched up back to back. RR and Brenham has the fastest rising star lefty(91) Evans dealing vs #7 nationally ranked mif Roberts. Then you get #1 Texas prospect  OF, Josh Bell and top hurler John Curtiss all in one day.     For baseball people, having the facilities graciously offered by the Rangers and the talent laden teams participating, makes for a long, but comfortable weekend, and a chance to see some old friends and enjoy hopefully some early spring weather. Will be in my estimation heavily attended by all MLB teams at the national levels.
  21.   New Rankings Out  PG  greater Houston well represented, expect more changes before June   44) Daniel Mengden      320) Cole Langford    64) Brian Brickhouse    365) Tyler Coker   65)Chris McFarland        371)  Reggie Wilson   83) Drake Roberts        368) Trent Rape    131) Cody Glenn          400) Justin Anderson   153)  Jordan Stephens  402)  Amir Jalali   177) Wayne Taylor        404) Elliot Richoux   239) Toller Boardman    410)  Shaka Starling   289) Cameron Neal      431    Reed Seely                                     436  Nolan Riggs
