  1.  Heartland Classic on Team Texas in Norman for a week. OU watched every game. Requested release. Offered at Rice, KState, Sam, TState, was planning visit to LSU, and decided on Sooners last week.
  2.   Chris Andreas (Sam Houston) Steve Martin (a&m) Drake Roberts all go today, Brenham Boys
  3.   Brenham just had an extended BP session as the Indians ran out of pitching. Last night's game was a masterpiece in pitching by both pitchers. Today the wind was gusting out and the pitchers were probably not regular pitchers, but were never say die. Congrats to Indians for a great season.
  4.   I cannot figure out the outfield lights. This game wouldn't be close if two deep high fly balls in center and rightcenter are picked up by the defense. Then, the infield is about 50/50 on bad bounces. Brenham is winning there, maybe why Long likes it, but certainly both teams face the same obstacles.   Santa Fe made some great diving catches in the outfield on some ropes, maybe the problem occurs when the ball is hit high. the two we lost were pro fly outs, way up there.
  5.     Not to mention his brother Robert, All American Longhorn, and the rest of his staff. His new facility is second to none.     You will find his players in major collegiate programs, not to mention those in MLB. Ray delivers a product, the recruiters and scouts all frequent his location for obvious reasons.     My past experience is I have NEVER seen a talented kid without financial means not be in uniform.
  6.   Hope ya'll enjoy the ride and congrats from all Brenham.
  7.   Certainly understand that position you have now. I am a big LL fan also. Still stop at random parks just to see kids have fun.
  8.   Baker on down was the prediction, it happened. Roberts triple, Bolcerick's double were all given to those two. Schlottmans bomb and Steagans bomb with Baker's first hit of the night in bottom of 7th, right when you REALLY need it.   Pitcher scattered about eight hits, don't have the totals, he was slippery with a nasty slurve. Had his fair share of k's also.Don't know if anybody had two hits, team effort. Once again a miscue over first base with 3 defensive boys standing watching it drop.
  9.   Banditos have numerous teams, and yes they are for profit. Nothing wrong with that. They also have some of the best talent in the area, hands down.( Many Brenham boys started playing with them two years ago and are better for it).   Didn't mean to hit a nerve, but it is what it is. Baserunning starts in LL about puberty, and select players who have professional instruction on basepaths have a distinct advantage. Gladiators, Sundevils, etc all spend hours on technique in which Dad's cannot reproduce or better yet, LL rules don't allow for. I believe your son is a great baserunner and I also believe that there are terrible baserunners in select, but comparing yours to a select player on your team is not a basis for an overall opinion.   Advanced base skills CANNOT be taught in LL. Speed is inherently derived and and you can't fix that, but I cannot feel that the above mentioned programs have a distinct advantage for high school players. but I respect your decision but I stand by the opinion.
  10.     They will continue to pitch around Roberts and Bolcerick, I think the line up from Baker down wins tonites game again. Expect this to be a blowout as per position, Brenham has much better talent, not even close. If Stegent does anything close to last weeks performance, not close. But it is high school ball and with wind blowing out ???
  11.   Cubs proved last night that the line up is stout throughout. Baker has been an unsung hero throughout and he displayed last night. Baker squared the ball nicely last bight and some scouting guys took notice. The college recruiters will be touting Baker shortly.   Roberts lead off hit resulted in first run before 2nd hole batter completed his ab which set an immediate tone on the game. The infield was playing very deep, that resulted in the bunt attack in which Long picked up on.
  12.   Defense has been real consistent all year. Seen most games, but not all. Jacobs shows 7 errors, Roberts 6 errors, and more at other postions, even in the outfield. By and large the Cubs are known for their defense. You must also credit that some infield grounders that Jacobs and especially Roberts get to are not playable for most others, but because they get to it, they can be charged with errors.   According to your competitors, they come in knowing you have a solid defense,  believe me, more importantly up the middle and your firstbaseman. But the true achilles heel for the Brenham boys is now and always has been BASE RUNNING. The theory that I have subscribed to explained by the Bandito guru's is they play "little league" and are 4 years behind select ball players on lead offs, reading pitchers, and getting jumps. After watching enough games I believe they are correct. Those small things will beat you in big games against good teams. I witnessed a defense lapse for the first time this year, but baserunning has been constantly shaky. Constatntly see hesitation and unsuredness, and they have been known to run themselves out of innings. I'll never forget listening to games on the radio where a runner at first breaks on the first movement (a one way go) and the lefty tosses back to first and the runner is already closing in on second and the announcer says it was a pick off that failed. No, that was a designed play to draw the throw, but selectplayers learn that at 10. Those are stolen bases, even if the firstbaseman throws it away. Base running almost cost the Cubs every game this weekend, not just one bad defensive inning.
  13.   Eagle,     You have seen him more than me, seems like d1 written all over him, your thoughts? Where does he play summerball?
  14.   Magnolia pitching is all D1/ Montgomery has better bats all going to the next level. Should be a classic match up, to bad it is against district rivals so soon.
