1. WAlks will b the deal breaker.... The loser will give up the most!!
 2.
Pretty safe to subtract 5mph from anything you have heard,  and 1 mph for every year over 18 you are if you are talking about yourself.  Havent seen the kid this year, but last year he had leverage and threw without a lot of effort with a live arm, would seem likely he has only increased in velocity with age and strength.  That is what our district needs to see, and compete against if we want a good chance in playoffs (whoever goes).  If a team can handle upper 80's or possible low 90's then they will go far.  But if the first time you see it, is in the playoffs, well.....better hope you have the other kid who can throw it!!!  just sayn......
i mean, i threw like 103mph in High School myself back in '87

 4. so is Watts Warren's number #1 pitcher?, I thought everyone was saying they had major velocity???  The kid had heart last night but he didn't have any gas.... who else pitches for them??
 5.
Buna hits, they will win decisively......let's go boys!!
Buna hit, Buna won.
 6. Buna has three legit starters now k Clark is healthy(walden and E Franklin).  2 ready arms in Kelly and Patrick and 4 more that can be called on to fill gaps if need be in Richardson Cleatus Yoes and J Clark if they need a good change of pace.  Still got to hit to win.  Can only put one pitcher at a time on the mound.  Team has the potential as do a lot of teams. Time to start becoming a team and start having fun.
 7. Hardin's #1 is definitely Dylan Williams (junior)...who are their other starters???
 8.
Dylan Williams and he is a junior
Junior...that's awesome my mistake,  enjoyed sitting next to his dad last night at the ball game.  The kid is definitely a gamer, he will surely have lots of wins this year.
 9. Hardin pitcher was a senior first name Dillion I think.  Solid lefty with good velocity and command. Kept batters off balance effectively.  Fun to watch.
 10. Hardin pitcher gave 5 well pitched innings. Buna got things going n 6th  should have changed pitchers but didn't. Pitcher lost his command throttled back too much to throw strikes.  Was all Buna needed.  Started banging it around the field. Bunas k Clark did his thing.  Told the cougars to jump on and lets finish it. They did. Exciting game.
 11.
There's alot of talent in this district on all teams. Kountze and Warren should be pretty good, but I dont know about anybody else really. I really think 24-2A is Buna's title to lose. Too much talent all over. Though their record may not show it (Buna plays with the big boys before district) they will be ready and focused for their sixth straight district title and a deep run in the playoffs. Eat em up K-Train!
Title..... we need to set our goals a lot higher if we expect to go any further than district.....let's go alllll the way!!
 12. Buna's X-factor took the bump last night vs Kirbyville. 4 scoreless innings. Nice to see K Clark on the mound. Hope injury is behind him !!!!
 13.
Koutze...have to say...Colby Price, Travis Hoke, Austin Marshall, Phillip Simon. Three guys from the Left and One guy from Right.
three leftys, that's pretty salty!!
 14. What are the projected 1,2,3 or at least top 3 in general, of pitchers for teams in this district.  I know Buna is likely Walden, Franklin, Clark. (no particular order)  I just don't know many of the kids names and I'm curious. List your team if you know it, or think you might know, I realize things are still being evaluated, but I wouldn't mind watching some good match up's this year even if it is not against Buna.
 15. [move]1:30 Kelly vs Bridge City[/move] should be pretty hot:  bats of kelly and their offensive production vs the obvious pitching advantage of BC
 16.

its ok to throw that many in a playoff game or mid district time, but its not ok if you do it 3 or 4 times during the season, because its going to take a toll on your arm sooner or later, here is a good article [Hidden Content]
Quote from the article " More pitchers are on the disabled list today than ever before. It's a paradox: The less they throw, the more often they get hurt." So pitchers are throwing less than ever before, but they are getting hurt more. Hmm maybe they shouldn't be relying on pitch counts.
Lots of those injuries, and I agree there are a lot of them aren't necessarily overuse related like:  ligaments and tendons in the shoulder and elbow obviously are.  Lots of pitchers are spending more time getting stronger for obvious reasons and not as much time working the pitching related motions.  You hear more about muscle injuries like obliques, back muscles, etc.  Their bodies can't take the torque that their strength and mechanics can generate.  It seems with emphasis on pitch count, it seems to suggest less work on pitching or even work in general which I don't believe is the point.  The point being to reduce the number of needless hardcore repetitions on your arm which has proven to do damage and continue to do damage if not given enough time to recover.  Wouldn't it be nice to know that magic total number of throws each arm had and you could ration them over what ever career God intended for it to have???  It just seems a waste in the scheme of things to "not" use common sense and attempt to preserve one of God's gifts "an electrifying arm" so that it may be used for as long as possible, providing one with a higher education and perhaps a living not to mention hours of spectator enjoyment.  I do agree however that it is a paradox, but still not worth not trying to do right by these young men.  I just think coaches shouldn't ignore it.

 18.

buna will be fine next year in 3a and the Franklin kid will be in the top 3 best players in the dist. he might even be the best one in the dist as a fresh andd he is better than any kid on the hf team right now too
So are you saying that this freshman would be the best player in 21-3a right now? Because I think Bridge City's 3 D1 signees might have something to say about that.
very valid point. this kid has noticeable talent at 15, that's for sure, let's wish him the best and see what happens at 16,17, and so on.
 19. pitch count is completely underrated in high school.  Kids and coaches talk about it like they have reached milestones.....kid threw 128 pitches in the game. I agree there is no magic number, each kid has his own limits depending on their physical condition, size, strength, and of course mechanics.  Japan has a completely different conditioning strategy and train for duration and control vs explosive and effective.  Seems to me the experts are pretty close on the 100 count and three full days of rest for men in excellent shape and have the most training.  After all, millions of dollars on the line, its worth their while to get it right???  Yet HS coaches go way way over it all the time, especially early in the season when it means absolutely nothing.  Last game of season, don't advance unless you win, kid is not planning on next level play....at least that is an attempt to rationalize putting a kids arm health in jeopardy.  You see it every year, kid pitches full game once a week, pitching till his arm is hanging and he's not affective 100-140 pitches, and they wonder why they can't advance in playoffs:  their best arms on the team are DEAD.  I know it's not malicious but it is way more important than they realize.
 20. It was an exciting game for the spectators.....lots of action with obvious explosive ending.  I don't think either team would be satisfied with how they did, with exception of HF being happy with the W at the end.  Buna struggled to put ball in play consistently with lots of K's and ROE's.  They made good use of BB, HBP, and fielding errors by HF early on.  Buna returned the error favor in later innings with a couple of E's in the field.  Buna  had the better pitching that night, again, with exception of the bomb at the wrong time. Be that as it may, that kid crushed it, got give him credit, and with 2 strikes on him.  Walden pitched an efficient game and while he got hit hard early, he adjusted and put in a good nites work.  The Buna defense for the most part really was in sinc with Walden and had his back most of the game.  Jannise, an obvious competitor himself struggled early on with control and was not as fortunate to have the defense bail him out before several runs were scored.  But he never gave up and managed to keep the game in reach. HF swung the bat up and down the lineup but seemed to mostly hit it to someone.  Seemed to me, to be a very good match up.  I am sure both teams will try to reduce the mistakes next time and give us another fun one to watch.....I look forward to it. I must be one of the old farts out there, because I really didnt notice a lot bad sportsmanship out there, it just looked like two teams trying to beat the snot out of one another.
 21. Awesome game glad I went. Not the ending I had hoped for but still was a thriller.  Goodluck HF and hope Buna learns to close out the game better when district starts
 22. BB core is making a drastic affect on offensive production and look at the number of pitchers have no no's going into late innings.  I think we will see a lot more control pitchers without velocity having more time on the bump since walks equals base runners.  Without those random shanks from weaker hitters with hot bats, base runners are becoming more of a premium.  Even the nice strokes from good hitters are outs more often now.  Dominate pitchers(mph++)  will still shine as always but those with control issues may not see as much rope to hang themselves because coaches may not be able to afford the base runners. Good friend once told me stats are for losers and I have to say it makes a lot more sense than I care to admit, but I do believe we will see at least 30% reduction in power related categories this year ie:  hr's, rbi's, slugging, extra base hits.  Conversely, an increase in ROE(reached on error), defensive fielding percentage, number of walks, Stolen bases being high contributing factors to winning.
