Big build for his age, nice strength potential. Hand drop delivery, quick compact arm action, tight 3/4's release point, some drop and drive. Mid 80's fastball to 86 mph, FB has good life up and down. Fair CB spin when on top, good feel for change up, will cut change up effectively. Very good idea what he's doing for his age, mixes and spots well. Shows power with the bat, big loose swing with some bat speed, gets extension, sound fielding fundamentals at 1B. Good prospect, follow closely. Good student.  ---- perfect game report Hunter Haley is a 2012 SS/OF with a 5-10 175 lb. frame from Nacogdoches, TX who attends Central Heights HS. Slender young build. 6.56 runner, quick twitch actions, quick to the ball defensively, good infield arm strength, will need to improve footwork and arm accuracy. Similar outfield skills. Back side hitter, leans back to swing, upper cut swing plane, looks to pull and lift, will benefit from a more level approach. Good student. Throws 90 out of outfield -- perfect game report CH has two justifiable athletes on board with lots of tools as has been reported by Perfect Game.  Velocity on the mound has been the nemesis all year for the cougars when facing it.  No doubt it will take their best performance at the plate to overcome this challenge. They need to remember how it felt to be man handled by the Mr. Hendrix over at Big Sandy who is definitely a power pitcher with a spectacular offspeed pitch.  Buna has some boys that can swing it and hit the pee diddle out of it at times and that time is when it is "strikes" That being said, patience at the plate will be the ticket I think.  Hit strikes and take balls, get base runners, then do what we do....make em pay every little mistake, as the mistakes are only going to get smaller and less frequent through playoffs.  Buna doesn't have shutdown pitching, and have yet to try to play like they do.  Walks more than ever will be the most important thing to manage.  Give the defense a chance to make outs and minimize damage and I think we can play with most any 2A program.  I wish them well and am proud they have given themselves another chance to test their skills.  Goodluck!! Two
We had to hit to win and didn't end of story. Phillips and Haley worked their butts off. Great effort    Good luck to CH NEXT ROUND. run was fun while it lasted. Good job cougars
 2. One thing for sure, the pressure to perform is on CH, they are the slight favorite.  Buna has no reason not to let it all hang out and just go for it.  If they do I think they can do it in 2 and move on!!!  Each team has to make 21 outs or more to win whether it be ground outs or strikeouts.  If Buna doesnt give too many strike outs away they will be fine.  You only have to score 1 to win (or at least 1 more than your opponent).  Kids are human and pitchers can be rattled as proved the case last night for Lemoine of BC (only lasted 1 2/3) which I hated to see for BC but he was fortunate his team had his back and ended up winning and advancing.  Point being, just not the time to be tentative, go after it and see what happens.
 3.
What kind of pitching does Lovelady have that BS has not seen?
Well by the looks of it on Saturday....anything over 80.  I was told love lady has a lefty in upper 80"s.  not many teams have or have seen that this year. That's dominate pitching in our part of the world.
 4. Should b a pitching duel for sure. Probably will b decided by who gives up the most costly walk. Lead off walks can b deadly. Teams seem to always b more aggressive when they don't earn the base runner. Big sandy will struggle at the plate they just haven't seen much top level pitching  They do have the perfect weapon for such a meeting which is mr Hendrix on the mound.  Look for the small things to make big difference ie mishandled balls pass balls missed cutoffs and base running mistakes. The team that gets the most at bats wins and I bet it's not more than 30.

 6.
Twine will be at the State Track Meet in Austin I believe on Friday.
That's too bad...twine is a stud!!! Kid has a swing.  Nevertheless Buna will have to hit to win. As always walks will b major factor. The bye should have all arms fresh and ready for Buna  Hopefully defense will b sharp despite break. Should b a battle!!!
 7. Game over.  Buna won 4-2. Kolton Clark is #5. Still a little rusty  Got in walk trouble last inning. Joe Clark came and threw strikes. Routine ground out to shortstop. Game over. Good job cougs. We had our big inning late and in perfect time to take the lead.
are you serious ? lol .....this is the post of the year !!!!!!!!! i do believe EC and Hardin  have  1 loss .
How many loses do they have???  Isn't there three teams tied for 2nd with 2 loses, and Buna with 0 loses??? I will be first to say things can change quickly but with two games this week back to back,  thursday vs EC and friday vs Anahuac, Buna could easily pull away from the pack decisively if they work hard and get it done!!
Looks like 10 to win it 9 to tie it.
 9.
Kudos to Hendrix for pitching a great game. He is one of the best I've seen all year. But even with that being said, buna should've hit much better than they did. The coogs bats have been dead for a while now and if they plan on doing anything in the playoffs they better start hitting!
Well put. Great non district game. Got to see solid pitching from a kid that was dealing.  Exactly the kind of pitching they will see post district.    Hope the cougs make the adjustments and hit the playoffs on fire!!!
 10. Lost girl to eye injury for rest of season ....wasnt softball related.  So, one roster spot is open and looking to solidify roster with girls that put "select" before little league.  Team is really starting to play as unit but could use one more dedicated player.  Speedy utility player would be most valuable.  Only looking to add someone that makes us stronger, existing players are working hard and I simply don't want to share their development time with anyone that doesn't make us stronger.  if interested in working out or possibly playing as pick  up player, shoot me a text...number above.

Even though neither defense was challenged both teams made most of their routine outs. Buna's poor base running offset most errors D ville committed. Buna normally does a good job making opponent pay for mistakes. I am not big on stats but they do tell.  I am not sure by Any means but I imagine team batting for Buna is south of 200. This will be the Achilles in playoffs  the boys need to start swinging it like they mean it or it will b another short run.
I can't recall the base running errors by the Coogs, the catcher for the Pirates did throw out 3 out 4 trying to steal. Spot on accessment of Howell and Walden who threw pitch for pitch in a really tight game. The 3rd baseman for the Coogs saved two hits with some really good plays.  Theres a reason the Coogs have won so many District titles in a row they are well Coached and don't make many mistakes. I believe they will be fine come playoff time.
Only my opinion : but two guys caught going to second took tentative leads and had bad jump and stole on fastball counts.  With as many curve balls that Howell was throwing in dirt I think that is when they should have went.  D ville catcher did excellent job getting ball out and on target but in right situation those boys should be able to swipe bag.  Kid going to third was n bunt steal situation and bunt didn't happen. I think holding up would b good idea since he was already in scoring position.  Again d-ville catcher did his job  Howell also helped catcher with good slide step and good home time.  Base runners were hard to come by and you just have to b extra smart when playing the kinda pitching Howell was dealing. Made for very exciting game to watch.  Good job both teams.

 13. We got beat.  Warren was more solid on defense this round. We hit it to almost everybody. They made their plays.  They scored 3 runs on a hard hit single that got miss  handled by a few when only 1 should have scored. Their pitcher stayed  out of walk trouble and beat us. Good job warren.  Buna will b stronger because of it. They definitely weren't giving anything away. Walden had a solid outing he just needs run support when on the mound. sometimes you gotta live to fight again and they will.
 14. I missed the lose against Hardin but knew their play vs Anahuac wouldn't be enough to beat Hardin so I am hoping win or lose tonight they put their best effort(buna) out on field and come home knowing Warren got everything Buna had to offer......do that, and I feel like Cougs will end up on top!!!!  I look for Warren to have worked their kinks out and be more solid on defense, making it all the more important to put the ball in play with some atitude!!!  dinks and errors are probably not going to get it done.  Again,[move]walks will play a factor[/move]  .....as they always do.  Looking forward to a good fight.
 15. A win for Buna would really put some pressure on the District!!  I am expecting a fight from EC, they are not going to go down without a fight, Buna better be READY!!!

 18.

Price & the Deweyville kid are the top 2. The Hardin kid is good. Then Franklin & Walden. They are def the best duo in district. Joe Clark, the other freshman, has came in an did a really nice job sealing games late.
I agree, Jacob and Price are 1 & 1A, best duo, Franklin and Walden.
I think Howell, Price, and Dillion stand out(and they should, they are solid)  because of how they compare to the next pitcher in line.  Franklin & Walden have been work horses in that they have kept on pushing forward even with walks and hits, keeping the game always in reach and lasting a lot of innings. But more importantly Buna has had kids come in, in every game, and pick up the slack, be it in shutdown fashion as Kolton Clark did a couple of times, or Joe Clark who has come in and pounded the strike zone and let the defense work, and  they have a few more kids that can do the same.  Point being, Buna seems to have a "pitching staff" nowadays, and that will be essential of any team that hopes to go past district.  Buna has a very balanced team and you can't let your guard down, you have to beat them 7 innings, and that just hasn't happened yet.  (and I hope it doesn't either!!!! )  I still say Kolton Clark is Buna's x-factor and hope God finds a way to let him back on the field :)

 20.
I say a lot of k's both ways. Walks major factor. Hoping for another dogfight they sure fun to watch.
Well it wasn't the dogfight I was hoping for, but it was fun to watch for Buna fans.  The Cougs were more ready for a formidable pitcher than I expected, being very aggressive, not tentative, and delivering some very good at bats against Howell.  Unfortunately for Howell, his defense struggled to keep the game within reach, giving up many unearned runs.  Buna boys played with a lot of confidence making the pirates pay for almost every mistake they made.  I am pretty sure Buna gave up more walks so my prediction was really off on that, but I will say they did fine ways to bury them without too much damage, showing composure for a young team.  Game ended on another defensive exclamation mark with a 5-4-3 DP.
 21. I say a lot of k's both ways. Walks major factor. Hoping for another dogfight they sure fun to watch.
 22. Amazing the value of a strike sometimes.  I know Buna scored at least two runs off waked batters. Kountze almost came back with walked batters. Sometimes strikes are more valuable than strikeouts as proved the case.  On probably the hardest hit ball of the night Buna's defense did the most unthinkable thing possible: turned a triple play on what certainly seemed like a walk off hit off the bat.  nice to have pitchers that come in and give strikes. Much more glamorous to shut them down in closer fashion but not near as painful as losing with walks and not giving defense a chance.  Good job Buna.  Showed poise. Big e will have many more chances to shut teams down and will n time  but it's nice to know its not the only option.
