1.

PN-G fans, was he a better QB than Harrison Tatum was?  I think with the addition of the former Rivls 4 star Kentucky QB that Lamar has the position more than covered...........
Not even close! Ask non-PNG fans, they'll tell you Doty is a legit FCS QB and could play FBS. The Doty-Long comparisons are valid. Doty has a stronger arm than Long did, but Long was more athletic on the field. Doty was a precision pocket passer, Long could run. Long tore up FCS his only year at SHSU and I believe Doty would as well.
According to the quote from Woodard the new QB from Northwest Mississippi JUCO is the best QB on campus.
Never seen him play and I posted that before the announcement about the JUCO kid, but "Torn Labrum" just doesn't sound good? :-\
I like Doty, I really do and I'm glad he is walking on the basketball team. However, this discussion goes back to last year and I'm not that forgetful yet. Doty had zero FBS, FCS or DII scholarship offers. If he did please name the school. Yes he was offerred a preferred walk-on at Oregon and took a chance there. However, the talk of comparison's between him and Dustin Long are laugable. Dustin Long signed with Texas A&M and still owns the record for most TD passes in a single game. He started several games but he had a jack___ as a Head Coach in Franchione who went with Reggie McNeil. Great move on the Head Coach's part and lead to his firing for choosing the wrong QB. So Long transferred to SHSU for basically a semester and played for them leading the team to the FCS semifinals his only season in Huntsville. He transferred back to Texas A&M and graduated. Now as for as Ryan Mossakowski here is an article about torn labrum in his right shoulder and his reasons to transfer from Kentucky. [Hidden Content]
 2.
Yes, he was better than tatum was...he was right there with long imo
Sorry, I don't agree there as I remember seeing Long pass for 6 TD's in one game at ATM. I saw Long in HS a few times and the above statement is a reach IMHO.
 3.
If that OLine doesn't improve then even Tom Brady couldn't win 6 games!
Hopefully Coach Woodard will hire a good O-line coach as there is talent with Oden, Campbell and Gillam.
 4.

He's better in football.
So why basketball?
Where did Doty play football? PN-G, right? Well, you don't do football part-time and be the Indians QB. That is what basketball was for Doty. A hobby he did after football season until spring football came around. I bet Doty never played AAU basketball! If this is his desire and he loves it, practices like he did for football there is no telling how good Doty can be. Will he be a all-conference player for Lamar? Probably not. Could he be a starter in a year or two. Sure.
 5. CCS won going away. Something like 78-19 as Coach Hyman only played his starters 2 quarters. Coach Hyman is a first class man, coach and friend. Cousin's son (Brett Foster) had about 20. ;)
 6.
Jason Smith looks good...I had posted that link on this site back when they signed him. I don't care for his tats either, but then again my daughter got one and that bothers me more. So how big is Hancock?...I've seen conflicting reports...I confess that I forgot about Mitchell...I thought he was gone for academic reasons. Amos Wilson has those issues as well, right. That said "AggiesWeAreNot"...good post...I feel better now.
Matt Hancock is a 6'4 SG/SF and his father is about 6'7-6'8 as he was on his unofficial visit with Matt when he committed to Lamar. So, Matt could grow a little more. He is a hard worker as he told me he works out 6 days a week a 5:00AM. Then like I stated he plays on a professional team but also on a couple others. He visted Lamar the week of the Charlotte game.
 7. This is a post from a friend of Coach Clif Carroll. Coach Carroll and Pat were both at the Collin game on Wednesday. They were there to see Amos Wilson and Hondo Webb. Amos is Collins leading scorer and rebounder and is about 6-6. He would play the same position as Harper. Amos in my opinion is a better player than Harper. Hondo is a 6-3 guard that can play the point or wing. He looks like a football player. He can guard anybody on the floor. He would have 3 years to play and is an outstanding student. I have friends whose kids went to high school with Hondo. They said he is a special kid and they would become instant Lamar fans if he were to come here. Matt Hancock plays on a professional team but doesn't get paid so he call play college ball. Rhon Mitchell out of California is red-shirting this year and he is 6'5 and very muscular. Here is a highlight video of Jason Smith who signed in the early signing period. BTW, the article is wrong Jason Smith is a wing not a PG. [Hidden Content]
 8.

Definitely!!! congratulations to you. You guys had a great season. I'm just curious as to some other opinions than what I've already heard.... What good exactly is a verbal commitment from a kid or should I say for a kid? There is no guarantee right? It kinda tells everyone else to back off he has made a decision right? Just asking opinions on this topic.
Basically it means squat.
It means a little more than that. I means a kid has made a choice of where he wants to spend the next four to five years. Let's other's know he has made a decision and hopefully other recruiters will stop calling. However, if it is a kid someone else really wants the calls may still keep coming. For a coach receiving a verbal commitment it kind of tells him where he is scholarship wise if the young man keeps his commitment to national signing day. Lamar signed four juco's in December, this is their sixth commitment so if everyone stays on board that tells me we have 12 other scholarships available come Feb. Lamar had 22 scholarships to start with. Here are some other verbals for Lamar. OL/DL Joe Persohn Jr  Hardin Jefferson 6'3" 253  BE SuperGold 1st Team, Jr&Sr OT Bret Treadway Silsbee, Texas Silsbee 6'2" 245  BE SuperGold 2nd Team DE Corbin Carr Nederland, Texas Nederland 6'3" 245  Honorable Mention All-State DE David Hollyfield Silsbee, Texas Silsbee 6'2" 230  BE SuperGold 2nd Team WR Jayce Nelson Port Neches, Texas PNG HS 6'1" 190  BE Super Gold 1st Team, Jr&Sr, Honorable Mention-All State
 9.
What's his size and his 40?  What where his stats for the year?
6'0, 215 lbs timed at a camp at 4.84. [Hidden Content]
 10. No, they don't have to sit out a year as Sonnier left Northwestern before they played their first game and Gonzales was playing baseball last year. As for as loyalty, that is a two way street as there are often promises made by a coach recruiting a player and once he gets on campus it is a different story. This may give you a different side of Zack Sonnier. [Hidden Content] As for as Hunter Gonzales he was voted to the Beaumont Enterprise Super Team for football, basketball and baseball. I'm sure there wasn't another kid with those awards. Here is another one for Hunter. [Hidden Content]
 11.
If Lamar is ever going to improve, they should not pick up any former LCM players.
They were both on the Beaumont Enterprise Super team last year with Sonnier 1st Team WR and Gonzales 2nd team QB. They are both talented but Hunter is moving to safety at Lamar. Congratulations and glad we got them coming to Lamar. We need more players like Andre Bevil?  ::)
 12. Community is going to start a junior high program next year for 7th and 8th graders. My brother is very excited about this as it will help the young men gain experience before playing for the HS team. So, I've have one nephew playing for CCS and other one playing for LC-M. Brother and his wife are going to be running around crazy trying to watch two games Thursdays. I highly doubt the one at LC-M will make varsity next year so they'll be trying to catch two games at different sites.. LOL
 13. NOTB, none that I've heard about but that doesn't mean anything. There may be a couple others I just have heard their names mentioned.
 14. Huge commitment for Lamar and congratulations to J. Nelson. Look forward to seeing him in Cardinal red next fall.
 15.
My bad.  I didn't know you were talking to me. You stated we can bring someone in from Dallas ISD.  You gave examples of why you thought Dallas ISD was a joke.  I assume that the charactors in charge of Dallas ISD are jokes as well.  Why would you subject us to bringing in a guy from Dallas?  You make it seem as if that the only type of people that we are capable of attracting. By the way, having a degree has nothing to do with being able to have understanding or common since.  Some of your best listeners may be the ones without degrees...  Just food for thought.  8) 8)
Well, then you have misquoted me for a second time. I said I lived there for several years and knew what the condition of the Dallas ISD was. However, then I stated you might hire a good coach from there but I wouldn't risk it. Just because the school district has a lot of problems doesn't mean there aren't good people working there. Maybe there is some coach worth taking a chance on. BTW, if your post made common sense then I wouldn't have asked you to reply again.  ;)
 16. Soulja, you going to answer the question in my prior post? I have a college degree and have no idea what you were talking about. Since your post was directed at me I'd like to know what you meant.
 17. Do what, I am missing something here. The question was about DISD and I lived there and know the condition of the school district. "So was that your little joke that you were trying to shove down our throats?    I'm sorry I missed it the first time." Man, I'm missing it now. What in the heck are you talking about?
 18.

Whats the issue hiring fron inner city Dallas?
We still havn't gotten the answer to this question.
I'll answer it for you. Have either of you lived in North Texas? Well, I have while working for Baylor Medical Center then Harris Methodist and the Dallas school district makes BISD look great. That is a freaking joke there! Now, you might get a good coach from there but I wouldn't risk it.
 19. Maybe a degree and teaching certificate? BTW, I think Coach Stump is a great HS coach so I'm not talking about coaches. I'm just answering a question about why people not in the profession can't apply for a coaching job.
 20. PA isn't the only school in the Triangle. Dang, you have Kelly, Ozen, Central, West Brook, BC (4 signed with major conferences in baseball) but Menard and the WR could play college football without a doubt. Then you have WO-S and Renfro is probably going to sign with a major conference. I agree it's not like it was when Beaumont was the "football capital of the world." But there is talent in the triangle and if you add the rest of SE Texas we have our share of college football players. If you are talking about schools like SLC and those large 5A schools in Houston, Austin, San Antonio and D/FW of course they have a larger pool of players. So, they'll have more signees.
 21. One person I agree with and I don't always is SgtRey. I think he is 100% on target with his comments and he follows HS football in Beaumont pretty close as well as other topics regarding BISD.
 22. What, the triangle isn't full of talent? PA alone has 3 major conference commitments.  ::)
 23.
"Shall I comment on how Ozen is coached, really?  I won't even go there.  Let's just say their actions speak louder than words." Go there if you must but I won't allow you or anybody else to place blame on all the kids for the mistakes that a select few have made. I have busted my tail and quite a few others to raise mine to be the fine young men that they are. You along with anybody else that feels that Ozen has nothing but criminals and/or thugs (as they have been called on several threads) are wrong. One bad decision mars the whole school but where is the media and bashers when Ozen accomplishes something good? I can't speak for how anybody else raises their child but I for one know what I do in my household. Neither do I feel that the coaches condoned any of the bad decisions made and yes things could have been handled differently but you or nobody else can prove to me that all the kids at Ozen are "bad". And I will applaud my own post LOL
C'mon man, who has said all the kids at Ozen are "bad"? I think you went a tad overboard with that statement. I'm sure the vast majority of kids at Ozen are great. It is the school district people or maybe I should say I am talking about. No way am I speaking about kids!!!
