1. Dude, you just made my point. To get major conference teams to come to Beaumont they have to make serious upgrades to the Beck. With those upgrades Lamar could hoist (I know they already do) tournaments with major conference teams coming to Beaumont. Disagree with your reasoning about travel involving major colleges because they could fly to Houston and bus to Beaumont. I'm talking about out of state major colleges. A&M came to Beaumont in the past, why not now?
 2.
I know they do, like I said main thing is Gilligan he thinks he's bigger than what he is.......Gilligan doesn't like to travel to big time schools, so thats why he doesn't try to do a HOME and HOME all he's worried about is wins on his career record and won't play tough teams anymore.
Again I ask you to please tell me one time Coach Gilligan turned down a Home and Home schedule? If you can tell me of one time then I'll agree with you. Otherwise, if Alabama, Arkansas, Baylor, TCU and the like can travel to other SLC schools I'll continue to wonder why they can't travel to Beaumont. Honestly, I'm sure after 30 plus years he is tired of six plus hour bus rides with the other school refusing to return the game.
 3.
The thing about it is its LAMAR there in the southland conference, Big time teams shouldn't have to go to lamar, Gilligan thinks his program is BIG TIME and he thinks he's a legend and don't have to go away and play big time schools, sometime you gotta make a sacarfice and go play away but he doesn't.
Big-time programs visited these SLC teams 1. University of Arkansas at McNeese State 2. Rice, Houston, A&M at Sam Houston 3. Tulane, Alabama at SE Louisiana 4. UCLA, Oklahoma, Mississippi State at A&MCC 5. A&M, Baylor, TCU at Texas State
 4.
Big time schools won't come there because Gilligan won't give them a game back and go to there place, Big schools use to come here  and the stadium is way better than what it was back in the hay day but gilligan plays a weak schedule now, I mean its LAMAR they need to go to big time places and play, but gilligan is to arrogant and won't travel to Texas, Aggies,Baylor, Lsu, and etc. I am tired of the excuses.
Yes, Coach G is willing to do return games if bigtime programs will travel to Beaumont he'll travel to their place. Name one time when a big-time school was willing to play at the Beck and Coach Gilligan would not return the game the next season.
 5. I've been to TCU's baseball stadium and it's really nice. So, at least we're traveling this weekend.  ;D
 6.
yall have turf lol, I mean one of the best looking stadiums in the conference, I'll say this I played at both stadiums and i like lamars stadium alot better than Sam houston and I think think its a better overall  facility.
Only the infield is turf at Lamar. I have to disagree with which stadium is better. I mean, at the Beck there isn't a visitor's locker room. Come on, this is DI and no vistors dressing facilites. No wonder big-time colleges won't come here.
 7. If Lamar University would make the financial commitment to have the best facilites in the SLC I would agree but Sam Houston has the best facilities. May be why Coach Johnson was able to recruit so well and win three straight SLC titles. If LU makes the upgrades as planned for 2012 ($5 million dollars) then I would agree with talk of Lamar competiting for the SLC every year. Until then, I can't see a reason for making a coaching change? JMO
 8. I like being in this regional and not Austin. The Longhorns are a team several people think can win the national championship. I believe the TEAM ERA is less than 3.
 9. I'm for giving the young man a second chance but he would be walking a tight line and dismissed with one miss step. Otherwise, welcome to Lamar. He is also the second cousin of Longhorn legend Earl Campbell. [Hidden Content]
 10. Man, I respect a guy who sticks with his beliefs. Who do you think Lamar could get to do a better job than Coach Gillligan? Please, no High School coaches! I remember when Gilligan left before and Perkins took over. That didn't work out to well for the Cardinals.
 11.
Just because yall love the guy thats fine and dandy lol and bleed red, but people have there opinion i mean no reason to get all uptight, I hope lamar beats texas st and gets to go to the UT regional or TCU and make alot of noise there, but I feel the program wise and recruiting wise the program is going another direction and other teams in the conference are stepping up and building there programs, I mean thats why you play tourneys because teams get hot at the right time and Lamar has gotten hot, I mean there 34-24 for a reason but like I said I would love to see lamar win today it would be good for this group because the kids have battled all yr.
Man, I don't know the guy I just respect the 25 plus years of success he has had at Lamar. Following a five-year foray into professional baseball, Coach G came back as the program went south following his departure and within 2 years of his return the Cardinals won the Sun Belt Conference. If he didn't leave and the Cardinals averaged 30 wins a season he left he would have an additional 150 wins on his resume. So it isn't love on my part, just respect!
 12.
I'm not eating anything I'm sticking to what I've been saying all yr, I hope Lamar wins tourney I really do, but I still feel he needs to go that's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.
Some people leave me speechless!
 13.
Yea the coaches know better and their record (11-21)for in the last 2 seasons shows it rite?? does that record show you that they know what they are doing? maybe you are one of the coaches and trying to cover your job.
Man, now you got to be joking. Me, a coach? Sorry, I have another profession. Regardless of their record I am sure they have forgotten more basketball than you or I know. With that record, they are in a position as they have to "win now, not later." So they are apparently hitting the Juco ranks hard hoping to "hit a homerun". IMO, we'll have to wait until the season to see if "the fruits of their labor" pan out. If I remember correctly the Cards were SLC co-champions in Coach Roc's first season. I agree they need a very good season or Coach Roc could be history.
 14.
What is ur point??? are you trying to say that the mens basketball program will be top 10 in the nation based on the recruits coming in?? I hope so!! and yes of course college athletics is now such a big business, my point is that you should not bring in athletes that ur not gonna play coz those athletes and their families might depend on them to play professionally overseas. So what will be Reggie mathis's fate?? what Roc did to him is messed up!!! he did the same to skyler,Musa ,Barrow, and will do the same to some of this in coming athletes, "mark my words today"
My point is the coach has a job and anything above Jr HS it is to win. Not to play your favorite player or sit your least favorite. It is to put the best 5 players on the court and I'm sure the coaching staff knows the abilities of the players better than you or I.
 15.
Reggie Mathis ,Wesley, E.B Davis, the 3 seniors, will be the open scholarships for next year, Garza and Osas are likely to be the next guys to leave, got this info from an inside source. We talked highly about this athletes last yr b4 they got here, and now they are gone, this will be the same song that we will sing next yr.  Something is not right. Why recruit all these talents when you know that your not going to use them???? you can't really tell who is really good while they sit on the bench, wesley really did not got the chance to play, we did not even see Garza and Osas in uniform. some players that were great in this program  the last 2 or 3yrs can't make it in the next level, y'all should know who am talking about, and that should tell you something about this program. I feel bad for Mathis coz he is going to his senoir yr and now he's gone and will definitely loose some credits in class wherever he transfers to. That's pitiful!!
When Brad McMakin (former LU golf coach) was here he had a couple of bad years until he "ran off a few guys" and landed Chris Stroud. Within four years the Lamar men's golf team finished in the Top 10 nationally. College athletics is run like a business and tough decisions are made; like releasing players and letting others transfer. Wish the best for Wesley and any other player who doesn't return for next season.
 16.
Roc has brought in so many good talents in the past, but they never showed up when they wore lu jerseys, he don't know how to use these athletes, wesley is a very good player and was the best athlete on the team this yr, what will you say if he excels in KU??? i wish him all the best!! i tell u what? Roc was so upset when wesley told him he wanted to transfer.
How do you know this? I don't really remember Wesley tearing it up last season. Could be wrong, I just don't remember a player on last years team Lamar just could not do without besides Justin Nabors. That being said, I wish the guy the best in the future.
 17. Lamar ex Kevin Millar hit a home run Friday, although he hasn’t been on an active roster since the 2009 season. Fox sports hired the 38-year-old Millar, who played 12 seasons in the major leagues, as a studio analyst. He made his debut Saturday night and really hits the big time when he pairs with Joe Buck for the June 5 Cardinals-Brewers telecast. Given his quick wit, Millar is likely to be a star in his new gig. panews.com/sportsbobwest/x1174305718/Kev...k-for-Randy-Childers
 18. Thankfully, we avoided a sweep by the Jacks.
 19. Let's just support the team the next few years and see where we end up. Like most of the other comments by posters I too would like Lamar in a FBS conference in the future.
 20. Olite averaged 37 points, nine rebounds and four assists at Colegio Villa Maria High School. As a member of the Peruvian under-19 national team, she averaged 19 points, eight rebounds and four assists per game. This young lady sounds like a stud!
 21. Here is what a former Lamar assistant SID Drew Lacy (Bearkat 41) thinks of this recruiting class and Lamar fans in general. [Hidden Content]
