1. Well, thanks for the clarification. Good luck to SHSU versus Baylor.

You do realize the Cards actually have one of the better schedules of a start-up program?  ??? Go back to the MWC... you obviously can't keep track of the Red Birds!
TexasTerror, I didn't think you liked our schedule. Now you are stating "the Cards actually have one of the better schedules of a start-up program".
3. With ther return of football I think a few of the skilled players may run for the track team too. I remember when Lamar had a football before there were a few guys that played football and ran track. I remember a couple were good at the 100 and 200 meters. Then there is the are field events that can get better with athletes from the football team. I'm sure there won't be a lot of 2 sport players but there might be a few.

You'll still be a mid-major.
But, we'll be in a FBS conference so mid-major isn't a bad thing in my opinion.  Actually, most people in the athletic community say the SLC is a low-major conference.
5. Seems like a good place to paste a comment by one of our posters. I can't believe he made this comment about Beaumont. kingkat99 Jr. Member Posts: 72 Lamar is in a horrible part of an already dirty town, and if it were not for the ability of so many home body students being able to go to school and live with Mommy the enrollment would prolly drop in half...although that seems to be helping the football program as the homesick transfers seem to be lining up...but aside from Ol Daddy Umphrey buying up the blocks of section 8 housing aroung the campus to be torn down for school use I'd like to see where the 20k are gonna live and be educated if they stay on campus... Don't think I need to address these comments. Except no one is stating 20K are going to be living on campus. I believe that number is about 2,500 students as of now. 20K is what someone with knowledge of the university thinks the TOTAL enrollment will be in the next 10 years.  ::)
6. That is going to be a HUGE scoreboard!
7. The thing that I think bothers most Lamar fan's who want to go FBS asap is the current SLC isn't the same as the "old" SLC. Several of the former SLC members are playing in FBS conferences. 1. La Tech 2. SW Louisiana (now ULL) 3. Northeast Louisiana (now Louisiana-Monroe) 4. North Texas 5. Arkansas State. Honestly if Lamar hoisted any of these teams in a home game there would be a lot of people in the stands. I'm not talking badly about the current SLC. Just stating a few facts about the SLC.

9. Sounds like Coach Tidwell added a couple good assistants. Glad to hear AC is one of the coaches.

11. Fox 4 announced that they will broadcast coverage of the following LAMAR football games; SFA, Langton and North Dakota.
12. UNLV, I love your passion for Lamar but IMO we are at least 4-5 years from serious FBS conversation. We haven't played our first game in 21 years yet. I'm sure the administration at Lamar is going to do the right thing and the best interest of the athletic department. Now, that's all I got to say as conference realignment is not something I feel I know well enough to talk a great deal about. I'll leave this thread to you guys.
13. Didn't their HC work for ESPN prior to being hired at Georgia State?  ;) A good PR move by Georgia State.
14. I agree with CardAmbassador as it will be at least 4-5 years down the road before Lamar makes a jump to FBS status. This is why it is so important that LU wins on the gridiron. We need to be competitive in the SLC NEXT season. Then by year 3-4 we need to be in the battle for the conference championship. If that happens which honestly is a big "if" at this point, Lamar has several big time alumnus from engineer's, attorney's, doctor's and business owners who could support a move. That doesn't mention corporate philanthropy and a fan base growth due to starting a winning tradition.
15. Sounds like a parent to me. Thanks for the information regarding the situation at SMU. Glad he was just homesick and there wasn't anything else causing him to leave Dallas.
16. He would be another A&M transfer, right? Did a search on him and found out he signed with A&M out of HS but ended up at Navarro College. He then signed with Arkansas State. He was a 3-star recruit by Rivals.com. If he does indeed transfer to Lamar the Cards should have one heck of a defense.
17. Another thing is just because Fritz has been successful at other schools doesn't mean he'll have the same success at SHSU. I don't have time to list all the coaches who have proven the fact. A lot of times it is just being at the right place at the right time with the right people.
