1. I like Mathews but LC-M is my team. What is going on there? Is the Pirates just pounding the ball on the ground? Man, this is a crazy night as BC and Silsbee are tied 0-0 at half.
 2. There has got to be some injuries or something. What about Orangefield, what is their total offense. KOGT reported there was a pick 6 by WO-S. They are doing the BC vs Silsbee game.
 3. No disrespect but you're saying 19 yards of offense against Orangefield in the first half?
 4. Who is Tarelton? Just missing with you. I agree I would prefer ULL and UNT but I'll take any FBS conference we can get into. Not just for football but the SLC is a terrible basketball conference and to keep Coach Knight long term (if he is successful) I think we need to be in a better conference.
 5. So, they run the spread option with the QB in the shotgun. If you look at the McNeese crowd it has a lot of empty seats. That is surprising to me.
 6. See there we got something in common as I too like my paycheck, retirement and schedule 3x12hrs = full time. So I make a lot and have 4 days off a week. As for Coach Foreman, I don't think a position coach at a 4A school makes more than the OC at WO-S at the 3A level . I don't have proof of that so that is my (perception). Didn't Vidor beat Texas High this season?

So those are the 3 schools in pull for. WOS, LCM and CCS. Good luck to all three. In closing my brother was a high school coach and if the HC/AD wants you the approval by the school board is a formality.
You win. Your mind is made up and it is and will be as you perceive it regardless of the facts. Therefore you must be right.
No, I don't win. But yes after talking to several people in the community of WO-S I'm not the only one that has these questions. (Or how I perceive the facts.) I haven't stated anything bad about the program and you're the one taking this personal. Coach Thompson is a great coach and like I stated before went out of his way to help a family member who didn't even attend WO-S. Finally, like I just posted WO-S, LC-M and CCS are the schools I follow and want to win every game. (since WO-S and LC-M) haven't played in at few years excepted a scrimmage I haven't had to cheer against WO-S. Good luck against Orangefield.
 10. This stuff happens all the time as coaches are people too. I mean they have personality differences. I wouldn't be surprised at all if the arguement was between the OC and DC. Like others stated, LC-M has a good group of coaches.

One, the dude bleeds blue and silver. He just won the 3A track meet for the third time in a row. Second, his own father got the Orangefield job without being a OC or DC for the Mustangs. So, you are telling me even though he put his name in the hat for the WO-S job he was leaving? Then you are made aware Coach Hooks is retiring but you don't think Toby Foreman knew?
No, he was leaving if he didn't get the job. I agree with Gas, he had valid reasons that made it hard to argue with him. No hard feelings. Toby is still a Mustang and always will be.
Okay maybe Toby didn't know 100% that someone within the staff would be promoted to head coach by the school board but I bet it was a pretty high number. I even posted someone in the coaching staff  would get the job on one of the message boards before it was announced. I'm done here as I guess Toby is close enough to the two of you to say he and Coach Thomspon has a different philosophy and they don't agree on the best way to play HS football on the offensive side of the ball. Fair enough, good luck to WOS the rest of the season. Re:Dan Hooks retires from WOS 6 months, 4 weeks ago #9083 bigred360 OFFLINE Supporting Member Posts: 1843 I can't believe this. That program and school has been hit hard this year. Coach Hooks is a great coach. Maybe what happened Reggie Garrett and Coach Barbay effected him and lead him to this decision. He is a coaching legend in SE Texas and will be missed. I believe WO-S will stay in house and hire from within the program.  Just posted this post of mine so you didn't think I wasn't truthful. This article was written Wednesday, April 20, 2011, it's about Cornell Thompson being named HC. [Hidden Content] The article about Toby Foreman was written Tuesday, May 17, 2011. [Hidden Content] Why so much time if he knew he was already leaving?

That is my whole point. He was leaving because he knew who would get the job if he didn't. Do you guys honestly believe everyone on every coaching staff in the state of Texas is buddy-buddy. No, there is a reason he was leaving WO-S but not for some position coaching job that is not near the class program that WO-S is. Didn't his dad retire too?
Actually, no he didn't know who was getting the job. And I'm not going to post on this message board the man's reason for leaving, but I will tell you your assessment is wrong. There is no point in speculating, I spoke with the man, you didn't. The argument is pointless...
Okay, I didnt' speak to the man but I know a lot of people in Orange. Not really due to anything about me but who some of my relatives are.
 14. Man, this unbelievable as I posted about a former HS teammate taking his own life and asking for prayer but decided to remove it due to not having all the facts. Now you guys are making fun. Wow. what class.
 15. Changed my mind about posting this information.

BTW, I think you know my sister Kim Rose (married to Darwin Brack).
I just met her this weekend. I disagree that the writing was on the wall. He always intended to leave if he didn't get the head job. Those words from his mouth to my ears. He told me that right after he applied and long before any decision was to be made.
He told me the exact same thing. In fact, we spent, literally, hours on the phone with me trying to talk him out of it, but he had his mind set. He had logical reasons why he didn't want to say that, in the end, were hard to argue with, but the bottom line is he was not staying if he didn't get the job. Period. I love Toby, he is as much Blue and Silver as Coach Thompson and I HATED to see him leave. But he had his reasons and ultimately, you had to respect his decision, but they were made LONG before the head coach decision was made.
I can vouch for that. Had the same conversation.
Was that conversation before or after Coach Hooks announced he was retiring?
 19. Well, he wasn't going to be the OC under Coach Thompson so the writing was on the wall so to speak. BTW, I think you know my sister Kim Rose (married to Darwin Brack).
 20. Well, I guess you guys didn't listen to the Ray Woodard radio show on KLVI tonight because he made it clear he wasn't happy with the punt returners not catching the ball in the air and that includes Jackson.
 21. How many passes did he complete over 10-15 yards? We can go to lamarcardinals.com and look at all the stats if you wish. Yes, that is the same punt in which he was late getting on the field.
 22. I think not keeping Coach Toby Foreman was a mistake by Coach Thompson and it has hurt the team more than anyone would have thought. I know Coach Thompson believes in a strong running game and great defense but Coach Foreman's spread offense suits the skills of the mustang players better IMHO.

WO-S were Bi-District champions in 2007 his senior season and at Navarro he played for the #2 juco team in the country. I'm sure it was something like what North stated and he thought the yard marker was the distants for the first down. It was a mental mistake on his part. Is Jackson a loser for not catching the punt in the air and not blocking the first Northwestern player who downed the ball at the Lamar 1 yard line? Measure each player with the same yard stick. Then have you ever thrown a football against 15-20 mile an hour winds? That is what Bevil was doing in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. If you don't believe me about the wind you weren't at the game. Plus you can call any of the weather guys (Kerry Cooper since this in setxsports) and ask him how windy it was Saturday night.
I don't know what QB you were watching.  I've decided that Bevil would be great in a sandlot game.  Just don't confuse him with actual plays and real routes.  Just a)don't block for him and b) tell the receivers to all run deep.
Were you even at the game Saturday? Only one of those INT'S were Bevils fault with that being the first one in which he under threw the ball to the receiver. The other two a Lamar receiver had their hands on the ball but a Northwestern State defender took the ball away. Especially the one that the safety returned for a TD but was called but for an illegal block. You don't have to believe me, ask those on the sideline or one of the coaches.
