  1. While Lumberton should be an improved football team, their pre-district schedule will not prepare them for district play. It is not to say that they cannot compete in district or even make the playoffs, but the first 3 opponents should be easy wins for them. I think they are in for another rude awakening when they open with Dayton. Just like last year. Lumberton is always good on offense, but I doubt they have completely shored up all their defensive woes in the offseason. I look for a middle of the pack district finish for them.

  2. theyre talking about that he is fast for his size, 6'2 230 and runs a 4.5? you cant tell me thats not impressive...

I was actually talking about some hyped up 40 times that I heard from many posters on this board a few weeks ago. A 4.5 RB is plenty fast no matter what size he is. If in fact the Vidor FB does run that then he will be tough to stop. But, it is funny to me how many tenths of a second get knocked off 40 times on message boards. And, yes I do believe you bcjag that Frog does run in the 4.3-4.4 range. I saw him last year and he is lightning quick. He was probably the second fastest kid I saw last year next to Jacquizz Rodgers from Lamar Consolidated.

  3. Don't crown us district champs. With the recent injury news about our QB Sampere being out for the year, we will be fortunate to make the playoffs in my opinion. I am wondering who will emerge as our QB. Will it be Kirby Bellow, Aaron Small, or Jordan Landry?? Does the freshman starting QB who is a specimen at 6'3 or 6'4 220 have any shot? It will be interesting to see what direction we go in.

  4. I thought PN-G looked like an improved team tonight. LaMarque did not impress me at all on offense. Other than #2 they did not have much. Their defense really tightened up when PN-G looked like they would score on several occasions. Tatum did not have his best game tonight, but I think he is talented and the Indians do have some weapons. Doty, Barnett, and Johnson are capable receivers and both tailbacks looked solid as well. PN-G will be in the thick of the playoff race if they can cut down on their penalties.

  5. Holy crap! What a great game! We had the game under control until the Sampere injury. After he got hurt we hung on for dear life. Sampere was incredible tonight as was Cardenas and several other Ned receivers. The defense did a good job. Brenham was very good on offense. I hope Sampere is okay. We won tonight with NO running game whatsoever. I am hoping it was because Brenham has a great run defense. If Sampere is hurt, we may take some lumps until he gets back. Hope it is just a sprain. Great team effort by the Dogs. That was as exciting as any game I can ever remember.

  6. Not saying that the guy isn't good, because I am sure he is a heck of an athlete. But, Brenham struggled running the ball against PN-G last season and I do not remember this back. I am sure he is skilled and quick though. Brenham had plenty of speed, ran the spread, and had a great passing game. From what I read in Brenham's newspaper, their passing game is what the coach has been most proud of and he pointed out that they need to improve a lot in the run game and on D. So, from what seems to be our sterngth and weakness through the first two scrimmages, I am much more concerned about our 2ndary containing the pass because that is our main weakness in my opinion. I am also concerned about our running game if Bass does not play. If he doesn't I hope we see some I-formation sprinkled running Gutierrez and sprinkle in the spread as well. If we don't get some semblance of a running game going this week then we are in for a log night I am afraid.
