It's not rocket science. WOS won state during 89falcon's sophomore and junior years of high school. WOS finished 2nd in state 89falcon's senior year. Hmmm...I wonder where this obvious jealousy comes from...

I have found a lot of truth in old adages, not the least of which is "misery breeds contempt"...

I think being in the final 8 teams the past two years and final 16 I believe the year before does. That is all.

I'm hoping to see an OF La Marque matchup in the first round of 4a-DII. I know OF fans don't want to finish fourth but that's the best chance for a district 9 sweep!!

I see this as a close game thru 2.5 qtrs. Central will eventually wear Vidor down and pull away late. Central's size and depth will be the difference. Vidor has too many kids going both ways. I agree that this Vidor team will make some noise, but they are a year away.

We (WOS) don't claim to be anything. We play to win, have high expectations every year. We still have the highest winning percentage in the state of Texas and don't dodge anybody...your teams?

Good post AAW. I'm really not sure anybody cares what 89 thinks. Just don't confuse your opinions with fact.

Kiinda tired of all this David and Goliath talk. hj is undefeated and ranked ahead of us. I do believe that makes WOS the underdog since you guys seem to think our history is meaningless. hj is a very good team and are better than last year (i think we all can agree on that), I just don't think they are significantly better than last season. WOS is about the same as last year, maybe a little drop in a couple of areas. I don't believe it will be a 40+ difference but I do expect at least 17-24. hj does belong in the upper class of region teams.
 
I agree, I hope the refs glue the flags to their pockets. However, it seems to me the refs in a big game with let the flags fly often, especially early in the game. Hopefully, it all evens out and it is a great game. Wish we could play every Halloween, we could call it Halloween Havoc (if the WWE would let us use that trademark, lol).

Last February my wife was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer. Needless to say, it was quite a shock to our family.Lucky for us we live 45 minutes from one of the best cancer hospitals in the world with MD Anderson. In March she underwent a double mastectomy and started chemotherapy treatments every 3 weeks. The first 4 rounds of chemo were terrible (She would be out of commission for about 4 days.)
 
We have spent the last 11 weeks traveling to MD Anderson every Saturday morning (and when our daughter had a band contest we would go on Sunday) for the final chemo rounds. The side effects are not as bad, but they are still life altering. This Sunday, she will have her final round of chemo (she has 6 more months of going every 3 weeks for an infusion that is not as toxic as the chemotherapy)! Hopefully she will begin to grow her hair back soon and she will feel like herself again.
 
She will have reconstructive surgery in December, but I feel like the worst is behind her.
 
With this being Breast Cancer Awareness month, I wanted to share our story. Early detection is the key to fighting and cancer.
 
We may banter back and forth on this forum, but you guys do not know how much I really needed to "talk" to you during this time. I have not met any of you in person, but I wanted to thank you for providing me with an outlet.

That matters not to him. Unless a team makes the state semi-finals, then they have merely "very local accomplishments", but especially if they are from setx. 
 
The "he said, she said" nonsense you are referring to...well, "the rest of the state is not impressed" is a perfect example of your ignorance. One of the schools in "the rest of the state"...Kilgore...one of the ultra-successful teams on your list, turned down the chance to play WO-S this season when both teams had an open date, and this all came as a result from a conversation with the Carthage head coach who told the Kilgore coach that WO-S was the hardest hitting team he had ever played. Those are FACTS that you know nothing about. But, as you say, "the rest of the state is not impressed." Sounds like you're spitefully right again.  :rolleyes:

I don't anticipate crow for dinner, although I have had it before, gotta say it is not half bad. As far as having it after the WOS game, isn't HJ expected to lose? I mean are we not going up against the power house that is WOS? Are we not the David to the Goliath?
 
All kidding aside, we are the underdog to a team that, as much as many of us hate to admit, has established MULTIPLE years of winning. There is no doubt WOS is a quality program and has proven this beyond a shadow of a doubt year in and year out. This can only be attributed to a program that demands excellence. Now with all of that said I think HJ has a chance, probably the best chance in a long time, of stealing one away from WOS this year because while WOS is years into a quality program HJ is in the early stages of developing one of their own. Although we may only be in our second year of a serious quality program the athletes and fans have experienced what winning feels like and I think it will be difficult to settle for anything else.
 
I can tell you this win or lose the HJ boys will leave it all on the field and irregardless of the outcome I think they will be able to leave the field with their heads held high.

Dude we are good over here.... I'm still confident in these boys.... Just need to be practical... Been reading the bible, and trying to turn over a new leaf...

I don't think it will be like last time by no means. Buna will be the toughest opponent EC has seen this year. We will see if EC can play with the rest of the rank teams. May God Bless both teams with no injuries and we are going to thank God if we win and thank God if we lose. May the best team win.

It's like he thinks it's his job to come on the site and continuously dump on programs. Pretty sorry way to be all the time.

This site has been one we have all grown to love, whether you're a new member or one of that's been here since the beginning. We have fun with the trash talk and banter and it's all in good spirit most of the time. I just read through the squabbling on the rankings thread and felt it necessary to take a step back and put things into perspective. Granted it's forum posts and that can often lead to misinterpretation but based on some of the posts, it seemed as if there was some sincere animosity. Unlike college ball, the rankings on here, AP, coaches, etc. mean diddly squat. I rarely look at them on here for that reason. To get legitimately upset about one school over another blows my mind. The staff on here does a fantastic job and we should appreciate the time they do put in instead of criticizing them because of how they rank teams. Have fun on here, debate, talk trash, but getting upset over ranking seems a bit childish. It all comes down to Friday night (or the occasional Thursday/Saturday). I don't make light of passion. We all have it for our respective schools, but remember what these games are all about. It's about those kids working their butts off so they can play in the greatest game we know. We are merely spectators that have the opportunity to watch them grow up before our eyes. Disclaimer: I am no saint with this stuff. I have found my emotions affected by stuff on here plenty of times, but I have learned things over the years. So next time you find yourself feeling angry or upset about something, step back and take a look in the mirror and ask yourself if it's something worth you getting upset over. I will leave you with a quote that I look to often: "Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it."
