Here is my .02, and this may offend a few people.
 
The better team last night won.  Period!!!  End of story.  HJ has improved a ton, but they are not on WOS level.  I have read post on here for weeks and months about how this was the year.  This is the year, for HJ to have the best record in school history and to hopefully make another deep run in the playoffs.  But heart and determination will only take you so far against a athletic and experienced team like WOS.  Not to mention all of the bulletin board material that a few posters have given to WOS.  The WOS team was jacked up at the beginning of the game like I have never seen a team.  HJ fought their tails off last night, and played WOS as close as they have maybe ever.  Takes small steps to climb the mountain Hawks!!!  Keep taking those steps and you will get there.  I have become a believer in my Hawks, but for anyone to honestly believe that HJ was the better team coming in to the game last night was looking through rose colored glasses.  Best of luck to the Mustangs down the road, and best of luck to my Hawks in the playoffs.  Hopefully they meet again in the regional finals.

I have to say, a team has 13 penalties and the other team has 4, and the team with 4 wants to complain about the officials? Not sure I understand that situation.
 
I agree the punt situation was a significant play in the game. But to ignore the fact that one team was flagged 9 more times than the other and a predominantly running team (HJ) never gets called for holding against an aggressive, speedy defense like the Mustangs, is just flat out wrong.
 
Obviously I wasn't there, but talked to a few who were (from both sides). The 3 TD win by WO-S is legit. No "if, and's or but's".
 
As for the dirty play at the end, no comment. ;)
 
As I stated before this game kicked off, no matter who won, both teams are still high quality teams and will not surprise me to see these two face each other again.
 
Congrats Mustangs on a well deserved win.

Every penalty against WO-S looked legit to you? All 13 of them? Sounds like the refs did a GOOD job when it came to yellow hankies only against WO-S.
 
Do you think that the mere 4 called against HJ was the total number of offenses they committed all night? Were they ever called for holding? With our fast aggressive front seven, we get held every game against every opponent and it hardly ever gets called. Not one holding call tonight, and it WAS happening. No personal fouls against HJ for the cheap shots? Are you upset about that?
 
I've tried to give you the benefit of the doubt, but you have convinced yourself that this really was a close game and HJ had a shot to win if not for that phantom punt return call. What you fail to realize is that all of the flag happy calls made against WO-S (and no, they were not all good calls) were DRIVE KILLERS for WO-S that kept us from scoring more points...and we still won by THREE TDs.
 
Stop posting, please. You've become delusional. WO-S was the better team and they won this game convincingly.

Cold hard truth is last year you (hj) were just another notch on our gun leading up to Silsbee. We really didn't care about you, just another stepping stone (insert 46-6 score here). Your entire year has been geared to beat us this year, guess what? Instead of you being just another notch, this year your in OUR crosshairs. You better be ready, because unlike last year, this means something to us as well. No, it won't be a cakewalk, but we are coming in with guns blazing (not literally just in case the FBI is monitoring :) ). WOS may be as amped up as hooterville is for this one.

HJ2012, I would suspect that Coach Nail had preset definitions for "Football" punishment for off field discipline issues as most coaches do. It's called holding your players to a higher standard and teaching them something about accountability. How many of us had to run our butts off after practice for misconduct in school that included detention of some sorts.
In light of all the BS I see in the news from these high profile College players and NFL knuckleheads, I think it's refreshing to see.

I don't post much but just for the record, win lose or draw I will be headed to the deer lease very shortly after this game is over. Just in case for some reason I get called out and don't answer till I feel like coming home. lol
No injuries for either team. After this week we should be pulling for each other. That being said, Lets eat Mustangs! I'll take a 1 point win.

HJ <5. If HJ pulls it out, it will be close. If West Orange pulls it out, it will be close. What I want to know is why is there a girl doing yoga in one of these ads at the bottom of the screen. I know if someone wants to advertise on this site, I don't think they would be turned down, but who wants to advertise yoga instructions on a sports website!?!

Honestly...... I have no clue..... I hope HJ brings down the thunder..... From what I understand, we have made some defensive changes for this week, but I don't know if it will be enough... I was hoping we would put a couple more guys on the d-line and try to pressure ol Jack into mistakes... I hope that's the road we take but I'm not the coach.... This is why..... Defensively, I would not be satisfied with only bringing 11.... I would try to figure out a way to bring 12 lol.... I feel like HJ, at times, has dominated each opponent. Seems like we step up to our competition. If we come in with the heart and determination we had against Silsbee last year, WOS is in for a long night... If we come out like we did against HF, will be a long night for the Hawks and a long year for me.... I say, good luck to both teams, hopefully an injury free game, and no excuses on Saturday..... See you guys tomorrow!

I'll be the first to admit that at the beginning of the season, I saw that Tatum absolutely annihilated Newton and I thought, 'crap, the Hawks can go ahead and chalk this one up to a loss.' Then they don't lose up until the Tatum game, so I made the trip out there. I saw the opening kick off and just knew the Hawks were going to be in for a long night. Next thing I know, HJ is tied up with this "powerhouse" of a team, and that's when I really started to buy into these guys. At the same time, I saw that Newton was beating WO-S. That's when I knew HJ would have a shot. So, I blew the dust off of my SETXsports account and decided to see what everyone else was saying about the Tatum game. That week, an HJ vs. WO-S thread popped up. I think it's been highly anticipated, and I will admit that I drank the hypothetical 'kool-aid' at first and bought into the HJ is better than WO-S argument. Now, I don't think either team is going to get blown out. I've said it before - it WILL NOT surprise me to see either team win this game. I think if you truly believe that HJ will get "blown out," then you haven't seen the heart that these HJ kids have. They won't go down without a fight. I won't make a prediction because I honestly have no idea how this will play out. I've never seen Dallas really get pressured in the pocket, so I don't know how he'll respond to that. I've seen the HJ secondary play well, but not against someone as good as DT (although Tatum had some really good receivers). I know HJ is very good against the run, but I know they may be a man short who could be playing the pass. I know for a fact Dubois will have some stuff West-Orange has never seen before, and I hope it works well. As far as crow eating, I don't know that too many people on either side will have to swallow too much. I know of the few extremists on both sides that would if it is a close game. If HJ gets totally whipped, I'll certainly get my fair share! I just think a lot of people are underestimating HJ this year. I hope everyone plays to the best of their ability, and that there are no injuries during the game. For some of these kids, there is no college football and this is all they have. These Friday nights are the biggest stages they will ever see, and I hope none of it is taken away due to injury. Regardless of the outcome, HJ and WO-S are poised for deep playoff runs, and I think this game helps each of them prepare a little more. Good luck to West Orange. I hope it's one helluva game!

Wow can't wait till this game kicks off! But it just seems like a rerun from last year to me! Just last year it was silsbee who was gonna dethrone us! I do know and understand hj is a LOT better than last year, just don't see how they can be 40 points better! Yes our mustangs hit a bump in the road this season but they are back on track and playing their best ball of the year! From what I've seen if both teams play lights out their best game of the year, wos wins by 2 tds! But on any given night who knows! Best of luck hj! Let's go stangs!

I can only think of one poster that has said that definitely HJ would win. I think every other HJ fan knows that WOS has dominated the history of this matchup and to come out with a W will require a whole lot of hard work, effort and some luck. WOS is the current champion and until they are knocked off, that will remain.
However, HJ is now in the second year with their new head coach and can run this offense to a "T", pun intended. :) We also have some speed that WOS has not seen from us.
The defense is much improved with lots of size and hard hitters. Will your receivers be a problem for us, yes, but I'm sure with two weeks to prepare, Dubois has taken some steps to try and at least limit their production. You're QB will have to scramble some, which actually may help you out.

Win or lose, this game is certainly "game of the week" if not "game of the year" (outside of midcounty madness) for this area.
Good luck, I hope both teams give it their all and come out injury free ready to make deep runs in the playoffs.

From what I saw tonight WO-S really relied on the deep ball. And Dallas had all the time in the world to throw. You limit his time, and those receivers don't have time to beat you deep. I think Halloween is going to be a very good game. Congrats mustangs. I'm looking forward to it!
