Where will Silsbee and HJ play their playoff

That first round bye can be considered an advantage and also a disadvantage. -
Thoughts on Silsbee/HJ part 2
stevenash replied to Dick Vitale's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Silsbee should expect to have foul issues when they play a very aggressive man to man defense against a competitive team. The benefits of that type of defense are obvious. The penalties for that same defense are aptly denominated in the foul count. And in the fourth quarter after you have been running as hard as you can for the whole game, you are bound to have to defend a little less aggressively or deal with the consequences. If you dont, the price is feet and hands that arent quite as quick as earlly in the game and hence those 4th and 5th fouls. -
Where will Silsbee and HJ play their playoff

I can think of no better preparation for the playoffs for Silsbee or Hj than playing each other again, regardless of who wins. -

I wonder if Tigersvoice is reading this thread. If he is, TV, do you ever recall me being sarcastic on this board?
lHonesty is the best policy but insanity is the best defense. I thought that's what this board is for. Just saying.
I don't care what it's for...I'm not okay with high school kids being spoken poorly of on it especially when it is likely that this person has little clue regarding his effort except for what he/she thinks they saw in one game
Maybe you didn't see but the guy say he saw more than one game and its not he's bashing the kid i mean come on man he's simply saying that HE THINKS the kid could show a lil more hustle. That's it.
Ok- and I THINK the thinker knows NOTHING about what he is saying. The aformentioned player plays as hard as anyone does and does so consistently. When he had 4 fouls, I saw him twice decide NOT to contest a putback (which he would have swatted easily) because he was playing with 4 fouls ( I also saw the frustration on his face for not being able to do so) The "appearance" could very easily have been interpreted as "not playing hard" when is was, instead, playing "intelligently". And I am very confident that playing intelligently is far more important than having sufficient sweat on your face or breathing hard enough to convince a spectator that you are giving your all. A game as fast paced as this one will wear many a player out and while Silsbee is the faster/quicker team, it took it's toll on them as well as evidenced by the number of players who fouled out. The player in question managed to lead the team in scoring, had the fewest turnovers and was smart enough to keep himself in the game when he needed to be there. In my opinion, that trumps the "you know what" out of "not looking" like he played hard. When Tim Tebow throws a pass, it looks much more labored and like a bigger effort than when Aaron Rogers throws one, but I seriously doubt he is playing any "harder" than Rogers.
I think Silsbee has a very good chance in the playoffs if they can stay out of foul trouble and rebound like they did last night.
I think you are right. However, they will have to shoot a higher percentage on threes or not take as many in the playoffs.
I have seen him play several times and I just don't believe he gives his all. He is the best player in the area in my opinion as is and as far as the best team i was meaning playing team ball together knowing when and where your teammate was gonna be somewhere.
If he is the best player in the area, he knows where his teammates are. In the case of last night, there are many instances where the defense creates the illusion someone is being left open and about the time the ball leaves your hands, the gap is closed and a steal is executed. You obviously didnt see, late in the game, the pass he made to the post man under the basket that would have locked the game up if pass had not slipped through the post mans hands. I remember few if any turnovers by Prudhomme which, in this case, is a very big stat in itself. Therefore, I suggest to you that he made many wise choices which just dont happen to show up in the stats book.

Thoughts on Silsbee/HJ part 2

Soulja- If you will give me some advance notice if you ever decide to attend one of these games, I have some connections that might insure that you would get to see a number of sweet mid range jumpers as well as dunks. I might even create a dunk-o-meter with your picture on it. -
I'm not from HJ or Silsbee so that being said awesome game. #10 for HJ is a beast and could totally dominate silsbee if he played hard the whole game. Silsbee is super fast and very much the better team HJ just has 2 better basketball players in #10 and #12. HJ sucked at rebounding last night I seen them play Nederland earlier in the year and didn't remember them not rebounding good. Awesome game hope they play again at a larger place so i dont have to get there 4 hours early.
Thank you for your insight. I have two questions that I am sure you will find easy to answer. If you had to match speed and quickness with a team like Silsbee, might you, at some point, be tired and not appear to be "playing hard"? When you speak of who is the better team, there are many people who feel that this is determined at the end of the game.

Not sure about all stats but I believe he had 20 points including three from long range plus a couple of steals and two blocked shots. He is a threat from three point range but when putting the ball on the floor and can get to the basket most of time

The last time this was discussed, I was disappointed that Devante Johnson of HJ didnt get much, if any mention. l believe that he proved last night that his name belongs in that category.

I think you just disrespected the whole town of Silsbee with that score... Silsbee by 7
I use reverse psychology! You and I both know I want Silsbee to win. I just don't know if the refs will let them play aggressive as they Re use too. For some reason when Silsbee goes to Sour Lake, the ticky tac fouls seem to occur. I'd hate to see us in major foul trouble early. We got to defend even better than last game.
You were in major foul trouble not because of the refs but because of an aggressive man to man defense which has some pluses and some minuses. When you play that way, you are bound to be called for a lot of fouls. In this case, the foul count was divided very evenly and whatever someone perceives about the refereeing, the stats suggest nobody gained an advantage.
congrads, Hawks. I predicted a 61-55 final score in favor of H-J. But it was still a 6 point win for them. Not too shabby... BTW, What was the dunk count?
ONe and I can promise you it had considerably more value to the effort than a sweet mid range jumper.
I will be looking for that sign in the window...Are you joining me for the "pre-game" meal at Sour Lake's finest eatery...Queen de la Dairy? ;D ;D....I will stop by there around 3:30 pm...
Won't be at the meal. Be sure to bring plenty of $ with you because the SL Dairy Queen has higher prices than a 5 star restaurant. I guess that's because they can so easily fool all of us naive country folk who spend the bulk of their time slopping the pigs and getting eggs.
