  1. Their new offfense will go through some growing pains, but did show some bright spots. No team is going to come out of the first scrimmage ready for the first district game. Every team that played this weekend left their scrimmage needing to work on things. PATITAN: You have shown once again that you have no class. I won't hold it against PAM that you are representing them on this board. I can tell you one thing. Coach Thompson has a tremendous amount of respect for Nederland and their football program.
  2. Thoughts on Ned/Silsbee scrimmage: Ned Defense: I got there a little late, but it looks as though it will be much improved over last year. It is early though. However, they were constantly in the backfield putting pressure on the QB causing him to scramble. The secondary made some nice plays on the ball. Overall, not bad for the first scrimmage. Ned Offense: Some good and bad. I saw a lot of throws underneath with good YAC and some nice deep throws. The QB has a good arm and the TB is quick, however, INTs are a concern. With that being said, I like the fact that the QB is taking some chances. Overall, a nice first scrimmage to build on. BTY, Silsbee has a nice, young QB that's very hard to contain. I can see him giving teams fits this year.
  3. Don't mind patitan! It's just his envy talking!
  4. I'd have to agree with WOS92 on all of the 4.4 times people are boasting. I personally don't know many of these kids, but you can just look at the NFL. Players that quick are usually big-time prospects because of their speed and how they can stretch the field in the NFL.
  5. Donovan looks terrible, and he is nuts if he thinks he should take the free kicks over Beckham. Cobi Jones is playing his tail off.
  6. Wow, what a shock! People predicting Nederland to have a bad year. I have heard that song and dance before.
  7. SFA85, you seriously need to grow up. I have been reading this site for a while now and have grown very tired of your posts. I try to keep in mind that most the posters on here are probably kids. By the way, did you graduate in 85 or were you born then? If you graduated in 85, then it certainly tells a lot about your level of maturity. I think that some posters on here realize that things they write can reflect negatively on theirs schools/communities. Others don't really care. Maybe you bash Nederland so badly because you have no team to follow. Maybe it's envy. Who knows? One thing I know is that you claim you be knowledgable about football. If that is true, maybe it's time to learn some class.
  8. Bon_Mot and I are on the same page. I never said build a 12,000 seat stadium, nor did I say they would bring in a ton of fans. It would just be nice for the kids to play on a true soccer field like a lot of Houston schools or Brenham. Soccer on football fields can seem like high school baseball on a little league field at times.
  9. I think another issue that is pushing these schools toward field turf is the use the fields get. Most high school fields get used year round without proper time to recover. You go straight from football to soccer, not to mentions many fields being used during track season. You should have seen some of the fields during soccer season this year. It got to the point where they were unplayable, with games and tournaments being canceled. Field turf would solve that problem.
  10. Run down? Compared to whom? PN-G? I think we can all laugh at that. That's kind of like PN-G's nice field house and rundown stadium. In all seriousness though, I think it's great that these teams are fixing up their facilities, PN-G and Nederland alike. It can only add to an already awesome atmosphere. It also seems like multiple sports will benefit from the improvements. Now lets see if Nederland and PN-G can push for soccer stadiums.
  11. I honestly don't think it will bring too many playoff games to the area. Most teams like to split the distance between the schools and play somewhere in the middle. I seriously doubt teams are going to travel out of their way to come play in the golden triangle.
  12. Who cares if it has ads or not. Everyone knows that football is big business. You are going to get a state-of-the-art scoreboard with high quality sound, 3 cameras, and a control booth with instant replay. What's not to love about that? Oh yeah, and that little thing about not having to pay a dime out of the districts or taxpayers pockets.
  13. I hope mid-county has a good showing this year. There are a lot of questions for both teams. Both teams do seem to put out a good product every year although both schools seemed to have an off year from their own standards. Fourty times are great and all, but I think we all know that doesn't equate to success. Look at Ozen last year. They had a tremendous amount of speed and talent but couldn't seem to put it all together. Plus, PN-G having to replace their line (as someone mentioned on here) is a huge obstacle as is Nederland plugging in the skill positions. Only time will tell!
  14. This is getting so ridiculous. How about you make two different teams then? A Supergold Private team and a Supergold Public team sounds like it would end all arguments. That way people can have discussions about players and teams they actually played against or watched play.
  15. Some people need to realize that most of the time it's up to the coaches to call in scores and game summaries. Many of you are complaining about not getting coverage, but the papers don't send people out to most games. Nederland and PN-G are covered well in the PA News because the coaches take time to call it in. Plus, the Beaumont Enterprise very rarely covers Mid-County. Also, those of you that keep talking the Mid-County Chronicle need to realize that it's not an every day paper. It comes out once a week! Buy a PA news next Wednesday, and you will see it's just a little insert.
  16. Well JCB, I have seen all of the players you have mentioned play this season. In all the games I have seen Waldrup was the most impressive. He has great ball control and change of speed. I am not saying the others don't, but again he was the most impressive. Also, if you are so knowledgeable in soccer then you would know that it takes all 11 players on the field giving a great defensive effort to beat a good team. Attacking mids have defensive respoinsibilities as do forwards. If you need a detailed explanation, I can post one for you.
  17. Ok, am I the only one who has no idea what this guy just said?
  18. Come on SOCeCER! Don't get on here and give Nederland a bad name. Lumberton has a good team, and Nederland knows what they are up against. Lets hope for a great game.
  19. I thought the Nederland/LC-M game was a nice match. I'm not a big fan of playing kickball and defend, but you have to give LC-M a ton of credit. I thought they played extremely hard, and it's great they have not given up this season. They had a bad run losing some close games in the first half of the season, and they can definately play spoiler here late in the season. Any team underestimating them will make a big mistake.
  20. Toughest Road? List your away games!
  21. Boot it out? Yall sound as bad as some parents in the stands. I have never seen him "boot it out." This isn't rec soccer.
  22. I think Central takes this one. The first half will be close with Central pulling away in the second half. Central 5 Sislbee 1
  23. I hate to say it Fernando, but that is unethical. Even if you got new jerseys, why don't you get the same number? That's one of the reasons Central gets a bad rap.
