1. Splendora will have a very very long year. Offensively they're scrappy, but they're not near good enough to out score teams in that district. And that's the only way they'll be able to compete and that's just not gonna happen. Defensively they're just not very good, they play extremely hard but teams in that district will pretty much score at will. Orangefield pretty much ran right through them all night and should have scored again late in the half, but stupid penalties pushed them back from inside the 15 to midfield and they later missed a 52 yard field goal. They do have an awesome new turf field to be proud of, and once the stadium is complete it'll be very nice.
2. 7-7 tie after a half of play with a running clock
3. Both first teams score 2 touchdowns each. All on big plays. 2nd teams playing now
4. We do need to be more balanced and I believe that's the plan, but if it ain't broke don't fix it. Watkins will be tough to replace, he was a threat to take it to the house from the qb position. But more balance will help with that. I just wished we would do some drop back passes to go with our bootleg passing game. I know our offense sets up the bootleg rollout type plays, but a simple 3 step drop to hit a slant or quick hitter to the tight end or back out of the backfield would add another dimension to this offense. When defenses stack the box with 9 defenders to stop the run, the middle of the field always seems open to me, maybe it's not but it seems to be. Just my opinion...
5. I think our offense fits the type of kids we have. We've been pretty good on the offensive side of the ball for the past 5 years are so. Nothing against both Kress and Gonzales but I'm not sure either would flourish in a spread type offense. Both run our offense extremely well, so it's a luxury to have two QB's that you can trust to run your offense if something was to happen to the other. With all that said, I do expect us to try to throw the ball more often this season. And I've noticed in practice that both QB's can get that done.
6. Yes Kress is back, Gonzales kid is the back up and you are so correct about us not having enough skilled players, lol ok
7. Both teams were very vanilla, neither team ran more than 4 or 5 different plays. Orangefield has a very big offensive line, but Shepherd gave them fits. They stacked the box with 9 guys and it was hard to get much going. Orangefield did have one nice drive for the only score of the game. Shepherd lost a ton, but showed signs of being pretty good. If they can get the shot gun snap down their offense will be more effective, if not they might want to get under center more. That high snap was throwing off their timing on almost every play. Orangefield defensively looked pretty good, thought we would struggle some but we had some kids step up. Offensively like I said above, was very very basic. I'm sure we'll be ok by the time real football starts. We definitely have the size and some pretty good backs, and with a new OC calling plays it's going to take some time for everyone to get on the same page.
8. I know the emphasis in Orangefield the past few years has been getting bigger and stronger. You can definitely see that in the kids this year and last. Even without pads on right now we look big and that's not usually something we're able to say lol. Need some young kids to step up this year, lost several 3 year starters last year but I believe we have some talented kids to help fill that void. Probably have the largest line I've seen since the late 80's, and with a new play caller I believe our kids are going to surprise some people.
9. I thought he was talking about Orangefield
10. Who's classless here, a team cheering for a team that cheered for them, a team they bonded with throughout the tournament, a team they exchanged personal info with to keep in touch with them or someone getting on a message board calling high school kids classless. Hmmmm I think we know who's butt hurt
11. Very impressed with Westbrook last night, they have some very athletic guards. Orangefield played them tough for 3 quarters but ran into some foul trouble and couldn't keep up. They will make some noise in their district this year.
12. Always a great game when these two get together, hope the coaches get together next year and keep this game on both schedules!!! Orangefield 24 East Chambers 13

Best of luck to all of you Bear Fans and kids
Not really a losing a situation for the Bears.  It's a scrimmage.  The offense that Orangefield runs is the same as Vidor and Coldspring.  This scrimmage gave LCM a good look at some things they'll see in real scheduled games this season.  Obviously some key things that have to get fixed. Orangefield looked really strong and has a solid team this season.  Good luck.  Just a side note...this may actually turn from a scimmage into a district game next season.
Maybe a regular season game, but definitely not a district game!!!
No...I stated what I feel could possibly happen.  There are some possible re-alignment considerations that could make this a reality.
Please explain those possibilities then...Orangefield has around 550 kids in high school, I'm sure LCM has 1200-1300 students. Ain't no way these two end up in the same district unless Orangefield has an incoming freshmen class next year that has 500 kids in it!!!

16. Bobcats are very scrappy and completely dominated the scrimmage from start to finish. Defense only allowed LCM inside the 20 yard line once I believe and forced several 3 and outs during the scrimmage. On offense the Cats used several backs, probably 7-8 total to pound the ball on the ground. They completely wore LCM out and dominated the line of scrimmage all night. I don't have totals but I would think they rushed for over 300 yards and probably averaged over 5 yards a carry all night. We even threw the ball 5 or 6 times, one for a touchdown. We're bigger and stronger than we've been in several years and we finally have some depth this year that will help down the stretch. Still have a number of kids going both ways, but last night they managed to get several breaks while others filled in. If we can stay healthy it could be a special year in Orangefield!!!
17. I think you are wrong, unless you call a clerical error something shady!!!
18. Thanks apology accepted!!! My beef wasn't with you though HFfan5, I feel for the kids and know a couple of kids on that team so my heart goes out to them. Bottom line they should have never been told there was a chance they would be playing again. I was referring to the loophole comment by another poster!!! Orangefield was an innocent bystander in all of this and simply had to sit back and play the wait and see game. Whoever started the loophole rumor needs to really find out all the facts before posting something that's completely not true!!!
19.
Not surprised.....  the right thing is slowly diminishing in this country.... heard OF used  some type of loop hole...not sure of that accuracy, but if that was the case....sad
You guys are so funny...loop hole? really!!! HF fans need to get their facts straight!!! BC did not play an ineligible player, they did everything right on their end. She sat the required days and BC turned in all their paperwork on time. It was a clerical error that's why the committe voted unanimously to not have BC forfeit the game!!!
20. Orangefield beat Kirbyville by 10...heard they now play Lumberton at 530
21. Well not sure exactly what Lumberton has back, but I know they're always scappy. Orangefield was originally sending basically their JV team because of the Volleyball team still being in the playoffs. Now however(with only two days practice) a combination of Varsity and JV will be sent. Should be interesting to see how things turn out...
