I believe that Wheatley touchdown was called back for a holding penalty on that long touchdown run.

Huffman will be okay and they'll probably finish right behind Coldsprings in the district race. They did look to have lost quite a bit, but should be just fine. Their offensive line struggled some protecting the QB but once they get that fixed, they'll be pretty dang good!!! Orangefield has really gotten better on defense, really hope that trend continues cause I'm not sure yet if we're going to be as explosive on offense as we have been the past two years. Offense still has away to go after loosing several key players to graduation. We have been extremely vanilla in both scrimmages though so I'm hoping that's all it is right now. If the line comes around, we have a chance to be pretty good this year.

Is 5:30 when the Varsity starts? Just to let you guys know, talked to Coach Smalley at Bridge City, he told me the varsity would start around 7, 5:30 is when the 9th and JV's play!!! I know a lot of people have been saying they were going to BC first then to Vidor at 7, just a heads up!!!

That's correct...Huffman also outscored Wheatley 1-0.

Guys if we can stay healthy, I think we'll be ok and be very competitive this year. Problem is we have no depth at all and we have several players that will never come off the field, so our conditioning will be very important to our success. Offense has looked pretty good in practice, very precise and the timing with all the misdirection has been dead on. We have probably 6 kids that will get carries this year, so the rotation every four downs should still be in tact. So far the JV QB from last year Ackerman is running with the first team and he looks good, hopefully he can continue and be the starter all year. Line is young but looks solid and our receivers look...wait sorry we don't have any!!! Defense...guess we'll see tomorrow night!!!

I too laugh at the statements on here about how Bennett put Orangefield baseball on the map. Since the late 80's Orangefield has been pretty dang good in baseball with several playoff trips including a State Tournament appearance in 1990. The year before that Orangefield went 3 rounds deep and I know when Coach Stone was here they made several trips to the playoffs advancing to the 3rd round a couple of times I believe, so don't give me all that crap. If you call making the playoffs twice in five years a success then I guess that's what it is then, but to me if anything the program took a step back under Bennett. I know he took a team to the Regional Finals, but that team with 3 Division I players should have made it to Austin and should have won the whole thing. Way to much talent on that team not to win it all, and a better coach would have done that. That lineup was stacked from top to bottom and had great pitching. Say what you want but that team was a state championship team and they underachieved under Bennett. Plus this past year, there was still enough talent on that team to atleast make the playoffs and it didn't happen. So 2 out of 5 years, and I believe that's right, not to good if you ask me!!! I will give Bennett all the credit in the world for upgrading and honoring teams in the past with the additions at the ball park, he did a great job with that. We have a great facility now in Orangefield and he had a lot to do with that. I like coach Bennett and I wish him all the luck in the world at Kirbyville!!!

Always enjoyed watching our girls play Dayton and Coach Wooldridge...I'm from Orangefield. Although we didn't play them much, we always had some battles when we did. This past season at the Nederland tournament our girls played Dayton, believe it was a semifinal game. Really good game with both teams playing hard as they always do and both teams getting after each other which made play pretty intense. I believe it was a Dayton foul on one of our players shooting the ball, but she had to come out of the game because she was hurt. So there was a delay in the game and the gym got quiet, I was in the stands and remember Coach following the official who was walking to our bench to see who was going to shoot the foul shot. I believe coach was actually walking towards our bench to check on our hurt player but after the official asks who was going to shoot the free throw our coach turned around and looked at his bench. With out hesitation Coach Wooldridge said..."Coach, can I pick for ya?" It was pretty funny and even got a smile and laugh out of our coach and the official!!! Just thought I would share that, guess you had to be there to really get it, but it was a calming funny moment after things had been pretty intense!!! Good Luck Coach!!!

Orangefield kids played well, gonna miss those two next year!!! Great job guys!

The boil is this Saturday June 4th starting around 1pm at the Jewel Cormier Park on 1442 in Orangefield. They always have some unbelievable sports items that they auction off, you really have to see it to believe it. Bring your lawn chairs and drinks!!!

Upset Giddings last night 53-52!!! Third place team beats the district champs!!! They always say it's difficult to beat a good team 3 times in a year, Navasota got hot at the right time!!! Got to love the playoffs!!!

Boys come first, not really fair if you ask me! Orangefield and smithville had agreed on a site around Conroe, but that was taken away to accommodate the boys!!!
