1. Yep!!! That's 3 openings in the district now...Hardin Jefferson, Bridge City and now Orangefield!!!
2.
It is a sad time for the Bobcats...Orangefield kids have always been real tough, but talent was hardly ever on their side.  There were a few years back when they had a run of athletes at the same time when they had Jeff Granger with Toby Shultz and when Bradley Dale and Ronnie Peevey and even in the early 2000's with the Farias kid and Modica, but there were none of those with Coach Huck and he made the Bobcats competitive....he should NEVER have been in a position to beat WO-S or Silsbee or Jasper...but he had a chance to beat WO-S and Silsbee and he beat a very talented Jasper team two years in a row.  But the thing that will most be missed by the kids in Orangefield will be the opportunity to learn the game of LIFE.  He taught them how to win in life and that takes DISCIPLINE, WORK ETHIC and a COMMITMENT to being the BEST you can be.  The kids in Orangefield will be the ones that will suffer when he leaves...There are some good candidates out there but they will have a very difficult time replaceing Coach Huck.  My personal opinion is that he just got tired of fighting the obstacles of a mediocre mind set that has always been a problem in Orangefield...it is the parents of a few that will affect so many.  It is a sad day in the "Field". :-[
GREAT POST, COULDN'T HAVE SAID IT BETTER!!!
3. I really hope Coach Latiolais gets a fair shot at this position. I really think he would keep the current staff and continue to run the same type of offense that we've ran since Huck got here. What we've been able to do offensively the last 3 years has been pretty amazing, offense just fits our kids perfectly. Not sure who else on staff would put in for it but we do have some qualified guys that would fit in nicely. Coach Smalley would be a great fit as well, he's coached here before and I believe him and his wife are building a house in Orangefield. Our offenses we're pretty stinking good when he was around!!! I also agree about the OC from Vidor. I believe he applied for the job when Huck got it. His offense would be very similiar and I believe he is well liked. Should be interesting!!!
4. WOW!!! My bad day just got a lot worse!!!
5.
The pot shots that some are taking at Coach Davis are ridiculous!  Can't you just come on here and say congrats coach for having a district record of 30-0 in 3 years (2 time district coach of the year).  An overall record that most other programs would take in a heartbeat (against a pretty tough schedule might I add) There are many factors that come into play in the playoffs.  Injuries, sickness, foul trouble, etc. bobbymcgee.... come on really??? I saw Coach Davis work everyday and feel honored to have been her assistant for the past 3 seasons.  There are not many other coaches in the state that have the planning, preparation, professionalism, and genuine care for the athletes best interests that Coach Davis does... Congrats on a great 3 years!!!  Good luck in your new endeavor!
Hey coach I hope you didn't take offense to my above post. Believe me being from Orangefield I know first hand the type or person Coach Davis is and you yourself are and the type of program that HJ has. Every team in the area should try to mirror the program Coach Sims and Coach Davis have put together over there. I was just curious as to why Coach Davis is moving on...is it because she's just tired of the grind and wanted to do something else or in a way was she being kind of pushed out. Just curious because I really saw her coaching at HJ for a long time to come. There are crazy people everywhere, believe me we have them in Orangefield, so you never know how the community can react to coaches that have been successful, but maybe not as successful enough to people in the district. With all that said, I congrats Coach Davis on her new endeavor in life!!! I know she'll be an outstanding educator in the Lumberton district!!!
6. First Sims is already retired...I would think the assistant would get the first serious look. But maybe the district is looking for a new direction. Nothing against Coach Davis because I think and know she's a great coach, but I really thought some of those teams the past few years would have gotten to Huntsville more and it just didn't happen. Maybe it was matchups in the playoffs that didn't suit HJ well, not sure because I didn't see any of their playoff games but I thought this year after Orangefield should have beat Giddings that HJ would have beat them by 20. It didn't happen!!! Time for a change maybe!!!
7. She'll start from the get go!!! Great pickup, she can shoot the 3 or get to the rack!!! We just got a lot better!!!
8. Moss, Burton and McManus should have all been honored from Orangefield!!!
9. Orangefield went 3-1... OF 8  Buna 1 OF 9  Kirbyville 3 OF 16 Central 0 OF 0  Lumberton 3
10. I agree Orangefield could have had a couple more before Silsbee!!! Megan Burton had a pretty good year!!!
11.

41 turnovers for Orangefield!!!
seriously???!  that is the stat of the game then despite the foul count dang I was hopin for a Lady Bobcats win here
Very true Hillguy, can't turn the ball over 41 times and expect to come out on the winning end, but Orangefield did force Giddings into over 35 turnovers as well!!! Both teams pressed the entire game and turnovers will happen, not usually that many but it's a given mistakes will be made, but how can two pressing teams that play hard nosed and very aggressive basketball have such a disparity in fouls called on them...just doesn't make much sense!!!
12. I've seen a lot of basketball in my day, but I've never seen a foul count like that. Unreal!!! Hard to beat anybody much less the 9th ranked team in the state against those odds. Congrats to Coach Jost and the Lady Bobcats...another 20 win season and another playoff appearance.
13. Giddings 51 Lady Cats 50  2:56 left Moss for Orangefield has fouled out, LeBlanc playing with a hurt hand...come on ladies hang in there
14. Giddings  30 Lady Cats 28  halftime first half foul count... Orangefield 13, Giddings 5...hmmm
15. So proud of my Lady Bobcats last night and proud of our two seniors Ashton Wagner and Rebecca Higginbotham!!! Ashton hit the first shot of the game a long 3 pointer and it was on after that. Girls played inspired and hard all night, that's the Lady Cat team I've been waiting to see all year. Coach Jost did a great job of keeping our girls fresh with a good rotation and we flat wore out Huffman who I believe only played 7 girls all night. Our press was making them work for everything and we contested most of their shots all night. We were just in better shape and it showed in the second half, our girls looked like they could have played another game. We hit some big 3's at key times everytime Huffman was making a run to slow them down. And our post ran the floor and got easy buckets all night, it was a total team effort!!! Keep it up ladies and go give Giddings a taste of what Southeast Texas basketball is all about!!!
