1. wow... I didn't know that either and I was at that meet. Is that James Haynes' sister? That smile looks familiar. I couldn't read the whole story due to not buying the Enterprise.

Did Barbers Hill girls score 317 points? UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!
unreal participation #'s, hard work, some good coaching make for a GOOD track team. Their kids compete extremely hard too.... you just have to see it.

It just didn't take great coaching to get them there, IMO. I could think of several staffs in this area that could have won the SC of you plugged that talent into their programs. I know there are other factors at play in LM but their talent is unbelievable. To not sound like a homer........ Could you imagine their talent in PNG's system??? sick.
outstanding post! too bad it has nothing to do with this thread...at the top of each thread, there is a heading called "subject" the words following this give you an inclination of what topic is to be discussed as you scroll down the page for example, you could start a thread for yourself and in subject line you could put something like "Why I hate Liberty Athletics" and then other people could read what you wrote and extrapolate on that topic as they saw fit. In this way, you could unleash your personal vendetta against Liberty Athletics without hijacking someone else's thread about select sports, fire dancing, cake decorating or whatever they were discussing. 8. Numerous Dayton coaches teach: History, Geography, Math, and Science as well as the few that teach health etc. Our health teachers at the Junior High do a good job of it too.... never been in a HS health room. They are held accountable by their departments, principals and by their students' scores on the state assessment. I'm sure other districts are the same. Now, as to why we need so many coaches? who knows.... If you go back to the 40's and 50's, schools had 1 boys coach and MAYBE 1 girls coach for everything. Is that the answer? I don't really have a solution, but simply wanted to point out that many coaches have to work hard to be good teachers.... the expectations are high if you wanna keep working.

 12. does anyone know the last time 20-4a, or whatever the dist. # was at the time swept? I know it hasn't been all that long, but can't remember the year.
 13.
No but close, it was 18-6 @ half.  And no backups got any playing time that game, your coaches wanted to beat us as bad as they could and if I am not mistaken that was your lowest point total of the year.   And like the other guy said, its not just the players but the system. Our team did not practice anywhere near enough or have a system down like you guys did and thats a credit to you. Our school district is behind the times in building a program, they dont have the high schools working withe jr high kids because most of the jr highs dont all go to the same HS. CBJ happens to be an exception(all Sterling kids) but we still didnt get any work from the HS coaches. You guys have a staff game planning and learning schemes, we just hoped to out "athlete" the other team which we did every game but the one game scheme came into play, against yall. We shut yall down outside but like good coaches do, yall adjusted and started running screens and draws right up the middle and we never adjusted. It was fun and opened our kids eyes as we beat everyone badly just like yall did for two years. I wish Baytown would see what you guys have done and build a program starting in the 6th grade but I dont see it happening until they get to 9th grade.
good post... Our program is as complete a program as is in this area and it shows against teams that are clearly more talented.
 14.
I just saw this on the new coach. I agree the 8th grade A team is very good and has been coached very very well. As far as speed, they have good speed but it's not like others dont have it either. Look at this clip at the 1:32 mark. [Hidden Content] The difference in that game was different levels of coaching and scheme so it should be interesting as the kids move up and the others catch up in terms of X's and O's.
What's the plan for that to happen? those are some good size kids though. Dayton is out-athleted by many teams they play.

 16. you're right.... can't regret trying to advance your career.

 18.
Finally some wild and crazy not having a clue what your talking about and being a homer picker. This is easy Ned, Central, PNG, and Livingston. 20-4A  4-0  This season do your homework before posting silly comments.
::)
 19. This is why we can't have nice things!!!!!!!!
 20. Not so much as a qb but as an overall football prospect, I could def. see Merka in the top 5. He'll have a good college career IMO.
 21.
So will the Hill be for Real this time around?  ;D  BTW, where did the Dayton's old coach go?  That all said, I predict 3-1 20 4A in the playoff's.
part time AD only..... We've split with 20-4A the past 2 years.... I'll go with the same result this year, except with BH winning.
 22.
My prediction is there will be no obvious changes to the general public. The system is in place, success will continue.
that's kinda my thought. I don't know jack, but I know one thing that won't change, and that's the focus on defense.
Dang Soulja! I left this board because every comment made always leads to someone getting pissed! Then, I finally make a post and you apparently took it the wrong way. If you notice, I put Da Butch at the TOP of the list. I don't have to cover a game there to know it's the best stadium in the area. I see it everytime I pass by on I-10. It's a great stadium. It's a stupid name and, I'm sorry, but BISD has issues. The current electrical scandal should make that abundantly obvious. However, I found it odd that so many people failed to mention the new stadium and felt it was probably because of their feelings towards BISD so I was trying to make the point that just because you don't like BISD doesn't mean you belittle what is, by far, the best stadium in the area! Last post from me! Take care everybody!
dang.... leaving over that???
 24. these 2 dist. have split the last 2 years right?? I'll go ahead and put a bill on BH and Dayton winning the first round. J/k about the bill... my wife would kill me if I lost.  :D
 25.
I think most stadiums have their pros/cons. PN-G is, hands down, the best press box I have ever been in (from hospitality to convenience and professionalism). Also best scoreboard and probably among the best environments for High School football I've experienced. However, I like Silsbee's sunken bowl and its layout (although it's smaller than PN-G). Combine the best of both Silsbee and PN-G and I think you would have a great environment...ha! Haven't covered a game at Da Butch but I have to place it atop the list, despite any misgivings I may have about the name or BISD in general. It looks great! As for worse -- There have been a lot of improvements over the past few years at almost all local stadiums but I think the worst I have ever experienced (past encounters - prior to any updates) was HJ in the late 90's. I had to get a broom from the maintenance folks to clean it out before going in. It was covered with spiders and about an inch of dust and I couldn't get the windows to open. I finally gave up and just sat in the bleachers in the second half and told myself "oh yeah..this is a basketball school"...ha. Also found Deweyville to be an odd place (hope they've updated since then). The worse part there was that the game kept being halted so the refs could chase the stray dogs off the field. There were a half dozen or so hounds that kept getting in the way. Talk about a Dawg Pound! HA! And there were broken rows (I think wooden) and I almost slipped through one of them. But, fans were great and very hospitable! Love Dayton's stadium but the press box needs updating. They've had too much success to not make some improvements (May have since my last visit in 09). First on my list would be a RESTROOM. That's a long walk down for an out of shape sports writer...ha!
doubt that'll happen.... I think if we make it bigger or add a restroom then there has to be an elevator or something.
