  1. nice ...... world record by like 2 seconds!!! :o Just kidding...I get your point I wouldn't even know where to begin with picking a team...haven't been around long enough.
  2. Notice those 4A/5A schools are some of the most affluent in the state... Very well rounded...from band to football to golf. Makes a big difference.
  3. some 3A schools...yes. ashamed to lose to WOS.....no.
  4. I really liked Hemmings a lot last year. He seems to have kind of deceptive speed for his size and once he got a full head of steam... :o
  5. Dayton...lost some key def. players and a great RB in Dugat, but are bringing up a strong group and are experienced where it counts.
  6. Strength: All the teams seem well coached. IMO Weakness: I think ...the majority of our district lacks overall team speed. I think the speed of the game overwhelmed Dayton in the 1st half of our playoff loss and also was a huge test against Central. Only seeing a lot of speed once or twice a year seems to hurt a little in the postseason.
  7. that's weird...here's what I get for the ft. 1m = 3.3048ft 400m x 3.3048 = 1321.92 ft 1yd = 3ft 440yds x 3 = 1320 ft did they really do the stadium track in yds???
  8. I agree...well...either 5-5 or 6-4. Don't see them beating both PNG and NED this year. maybe one, but not both. once again though...in this district, we can't look past anyone. they'll be improved but I don't think all the way back to where they were.
  9. I guess I really don't either. ;D different shade of purple over here
  10. you're exactly right...I agree on that note though, it seems that we are talking about quality of the trip to the playoffs. I wouldn't mind having a fairly recent trip to the finals like PNG. PNG will be good again. I don't necessarily think it is the coaches fault...but a change of scenery is good from time to time.
  11. WOW....elevator???? 3 story press box??? back on topic. I love the purple in the stands at dayton.
  12. Ya'lls place is gonna be awesome. between that great fieldhouse, scoreboard and turf...wow
  13. I think they did it in the scrimmage against Montgomery last year...not sure. I usually agree with this decision as well. They are the ones that know what is really going on down on the field. I would rather do that than end up in a brawl.
  14. LOL I guess you guys couldn't hit the PAT at their place or the neutral sight. Can't imagine them being on the schedule.
  15. Good to hear an unbiased opinion of Cody. I tend to wear purple glasses and have a tough time being objective after I see him play.
  16. I know...I was just kidding with that first part. It's gonna be a Dogfight.
  17. kind of a committee at the moment AJ will get most of the touches but also John Gable (LB on Def.) and Jeff summers(JV last year and built like a train) will share the load too. A few others could get some carries, but those seem to be the main guys.
  18. after going unbeaten in dist. last year. Dayton is not a likely? :'( :'( :'( I see what your saying, but I don't think it was a fluke off the top of my head, we are returning about 5 or 6 on each side of the ball. those are starters from last year not sure about those who didn't see much playing time. that's a pretty good nucleus. We'll be contenders.
  19. We really do have a great staff. They put EVERYTHING into these kids. I feel like the kids are the difference in getting over that 3rd round hump. Gotta be hungry. Baller is right, the teams that have knocked us out of the playoffs have always been pretty salty. i love what dayton has done over the past decade, I just feel like there is more somewhere in there. These coaches do get all they can out of the kids...so we'll see.
  20. From a poster on texashsfootball.com Costs: The House version $4.5 million in annual costs to be funded from increases in ticket prices to high school spectator sports…..The Senate version requires the state to pay for the testing. Punishment: The House version leaves it up to the UIL to determine the lengths of periods of ineligibility upon positive tests…The Senate version ranges from 30 days for the first positive test to permanent ineligibility for a third positive test. The bill could take effect in September at the start of football season. source: [Hidden Content]
  21. :o :o That'd be interesting Not sure how to keep Dayton, Central and Nederland all out of the playoffs though.
  22. thinking back...I don't believe Cody played at all against WOS (not sure, only game I missed) and only played about a half each against Friendswood and Nacogodoches. so the yds/game is iffy.
  23. Bryce is a good QB. plain and simple. One thing we've also got to remember if we are comparing is that Cody's first full game at QB was the Lumberton game(4th game), so the numbers are skewed a little. Cody also had some bad games...i.e. Central(that defense!!) We'll get a little better idea about Cody this year. by the way. on the topic of AJ being a better QB...I think he is a better runner....but overall I don't think so. AJ has so many weapons it's unreal, I like him better out of the slot or catching balls out of the backfield.
