  1. I would love to see the ability of replay, not to change the flow of the game, but rather, police the official. It's sad when home cooking gets this bad, but, at times, I have see flags come in so late after a good play that it makes you wonder. If you saw holding at the line, call it then, don't call it after the play results in positive yardage for a team that then gets demoralized over a judgement call. It's like waiting 3 seconds after the pitch to call strike or ball.
  2. VOP, props for coming on here and posting, even though the other Pirate faithful have all but disappeared. You came on and made a point about the game, and didn't attack the Bears, umps or fans. That is true class. Trust me, our Bears will never take Vidor lightly.
  3. come on Voice...my first reaction was...what a wussy thing to do...but then I thought about it...and it was quiet...TOO quiet...
  4. If THAT were true, all the Vidor fans would be on here talking about it...I just love April 1st!
  5. The Bears did well in putting the ball in the gaps against Vidor's ace, and against the other pitchers as well. They also took advantage of Vidor miscues, which is what a good team does. Vidor was uncharecteristically error prone, but the Bears were on as well. utguy09 puts it right...the errors didn't cost the game, well placed hitting won the game for LCM, as well as a great outing by Dallas Brown on the mound. All in all, a great game by the Bears.
  6. Prophetic final total...14 runs were scored...off on each team by 1.
  7. LCM by 3. Both teams will be focused and ready, but the Bears will gel tonight, offensively and defensively.
  8. From the Bear family, Mr. Allison, we send our prayers for you and your family. Congratulations on some fine young men that you have raised.
  9. not the blue you wanted, but I think it's if the barrel of the bat crosses the 90 degree plane. It's a really tough judgement call.
  10. Hey!!!! I got to see my kid in that video!! Thanks Channel 6!
  11. come on pirate...anytime it works, it's perfect... ;D if it doesn't it's a "what the hell was he thinkin'" moment...
  12. This game was an example of teams being ready to play every game night. What impressed me about the Raiders is the complete lack of quit these young men had. During the game, even though they were down quite a bit, I don't remember ever seeing them hang their heads at all. They battled for 7 innings, and I breathed a sigh of relief with the last out. This was our own wake up call, and I am glad that it didn't take a loss to do it. Our Bears battled, and won, but props goes to the Raiders for a hard fought game.
  13. TCLL didn't host a lot of All Star Tournaments...but I do recall going to PNLL, and seeing that interesting infield. I mean, the infield cresting is one thing, but that one had a 45 degree angle from the dirt to the grass!...lol You know, havng seen a lot of these kids playing this year, a lot of them have played together in Babe Ruth, but for us here in Orange, there's probably only 2 or 3 from LCM that saw the PNG kids in their younger days, or for that matter the Nederland kids. NNLL and NSLL were also intimidating parks to play at, for a 11 and 12 year old. A lot of our All Stars though, went to Deweyville, so a lot of them faced the PNLL and NSLL and NNLL kids. This thread has gotten like those LL games. I remember one of our Major League teams playing at WESCO, and there was a questionable call at the plate...the coaches, and some of the parents from WESCO started to whoopin' and hollerin' at the umpires, just really cursin' and being rude. 2 of the 3 coaches from the WESCO side were ejected, but it was Josh Morris, the WESCO team's catcher that day that showed the most class, this at the age of 12. He turned around to the fans, and said..."can everybody just shut up and let us play ball"...wise words indeed...
  14. You know, I sat there thinkin' and thinkin' about this before I wrote it...and I have to say it... While the lady in the stands for PN-G might have made a fool of herself at the game, and the Vidor fans may have reason to be upset, I think identifying her, and as a result, her kid on the team was the wrong way to go. While we may not want to see him affected by this, you know it will, and on a week that is such a great one for him, except of course for the outcome of the game. It may result in his relationship with his mother being affected, and even if she was in the wrong at the game, it's tough to put that type of pressure on a mother and son relationship. Yeah, I'm a bleeding heart, but my kid plays ball, and I would hope that someone lets me know face to face when I have been a belligerent fool, instead of embarrasing my kid in the process, since he has no control over me when he's in the dugout.
  15. Call Allied Waste, 'cause the trash talkin' is gettin' bad! Having said that, like any other sport, football is won, not in the forum, but on the field. Kids, our sons, grandsons, nephews, cousins, freinds, spend a lot of time working out, practicing, sweating, and even bleeding way too much for us to throw around idle talk and put downs. The Bears will go into every game, ready to play. They will work hard, play hard, and play team ball. They will have a shot at district, just like any other team. The Bears will try to find a way to win every ball game they play in, and hopefully, they will succeed more times than they fail. The Bears will live up to the adjective they have before thir team name...Battlin'... See you in the fall...
  16. Dang VOP....great crystal ball there...what are Friday's Mega Million numbers?..lol ;D
  17. props to tje Bulldogs for a hard fought game, as I knew it would be. This game was a definite 7 inning duel, no matter the score. Our Bears had to be on top of their game to fight off the scrappy 'Dogs. This is one of those games where you walk out of the ballpark knowing you saw a great game. Congratulations Osos, keep it up...Big Ned, hard fought tough game, way to play ball.
  18. Stefan Cloeren continues to improve. I don't see a problem with him there. Baseball is not all about heat and bombs...
  19. Gonna buck all the trends...WOS in a close game 4-3
  20. a tough battle for the Bears looms ahead. Nederland is a strong team, and the Bears will face a challenge with the 'Dogs, look how they played PNG. I look for the Bears to win this one, but it will be a battle all the way.
  21. correct 44stack, an ATHLETIC PROGRAM, not a baseball clinic, but then again, not a football clinic either. It's not a football hating thing, it's a making sure the kids are healthy to play all sports thing. Your comment about other players "standing around" shows your lack of understanding about the game of baseball. Ball gets hit to the outfield, fielder needs to get it in, uses arm to do it. The same with any infielder, who has to throw hard to get the ball to a base. Same thing with the catcher, who spends most of his time in the squat position. Baseball players do a lot more than "stand around".
  22. I never said not to lift in the off season...My concern is with lifiting on a game day. Pitchers have a certain pitch count that they can get to if they are throwing that day. If you are going to watch a kid with regard to pitch count, wouldn't it stand to reason that you would watch the kid with regard to lifting weights? In addition, I think that the UIL instituted the rule FOR A REASON. They have much more on the ball with regard to professionals in sports medicine than I, or any other baseball dad have. The issue for many schools, thankfully not mine, is in some football coaches wanting to institute their regimen to the disregard of everything else. At that point in time, you have the potential for injury to a kid who has the desire to play, but not the experience and know how on how his muscles are affected. Insuring kids are safe and healthy to the greatest extent possible is the job of the coaches.
  23. Thank you all commenting on our Bears. We know that year after year, we have a tough row to hoe in 22-4A. All the teams deserve to be repsected, because, like baseballmom2xs ut it, on any given day, you can be beaten, or you can beat the team that previously beat you. Some people love to have a "powerhouse" team, but in a district that is a powerhouse, next to another district that is a powerhouse (props Eagle07), it's hard to say "this team is unbeatable".
  24. those that follow baseball know to not disrespect ANY team in 22-4a...it's just too good a district. The Bears will rebound from this, and will be a contender, not just for a playoff spot, but for the district championship as well. This early in the season, all the teams are contenders.
  25. Don't worry about bringing your GPS to the reservation, unless or course you would like to locate our long balls from tonight :-* Word cleanup, word...you were the better team tonight... I'll be waiting to shake your hand at Gibbens when we face each other again...and I'll bring my GPS...lol... ;D
