1. I drove by it this weekend and it looked like it was covered with a light brown tarp or that it had sand spread all over it.......did not get close enough to see what was going on

I'm going to miss watching the Oilers play.  Good luck West Hardin!
I agree Joharr......last years Oilers were faster but I guess I was refering more from top to bottom.....not disrespecting last years team at all.
Luckily we're not playing them in 7 on 7. Full contact, best 11 on the field, HD can beat SA. It would no doubt be an upset, but they are beatable.
HD can not beat SA under any circumstances in Football, Basketball or Track. HD has no speed or talent. SA will name the score on HD. Ask West Sabine about HD's chances against SA. SA will run through, around, or over HD. Look at the teams SA has beaten compared to HD. This is funny.
But it is the new coach and attitude..........and do not forget the genes and DNA

 5.
Broom I was not gonna comment on this thread. But it has just been so exciting in Daisetta the last 4 months, with the Finney hire. Hull-Daisetta has one of the richest football traditions in SE Texas and a sleeping giant has been awakened. Coach Finney has made it a mission to search out every once of genes and DNA from the monsters of the big thicket blood lines, to rekindle the Mighty Hull-Daisetta Bobcat fire that has burned so bright in SE Texas since the 30's. To see almost every able body kid playing ball is a true blessing. I don't want to predict any games this season, all I know is this ain't gonna be the Bobcats of the last 5 years. I would not want to play against Finney and his team. Going to be super exciting! Hardin will be one of many faceless opponents, that just happen to draw the short end of the straw. Go Bobcats! Dave Campbell and the people voting up above, have put us right where we want to be.  ;) 8)
I can't believe this little nugget of a quote has not been commented on
Hope that Mexican flight does not get canceled, we may end up having to whip-up on WOS AGAIN....... ;D ;)
Don't worry. I drove by Pirates Bay Water Park and it looks like the Tigres team is staying in Baytown over the summer. ;D
Now that is funny........but true
 7. I think the staff should give these guys a prize.......this has to be the 100th thread one the greatness that is HD
 8.
After reading one of the threads on here (SE Texas Football championships), I got to re-looking at some of the old Hull-Daisetta stuff from the 1930's when they set the then national record for consecutive wins with 43 from 1936-1939. I was gonna post on the thread my argument that HD has been to at least 5 championship games, since back in the old days, smaller schools only played to a Regional Championship as opposed to state championship. Anyway, all that aside, I was just amazed when looking at the scores from those seasons, and even more-so with the schools that HD was playing. I'm going to post the season scores below for those four seasons. Notice that several of the schools on the list are no longer open (since combining or opening newer high schools) and that all the current schools on the list are 3A, 4A, 5A, or split up to now be multiple high schools! Every town on here, EXCEPT Hull-Daisetta has gotten bigger by leaps and bounds. Just wanted to share..... 1936 Season (11-0 Regional Champs) HD - 33    Sour Lake - 0 HD - 52    Crosby - 0 HD - 31    Port Neches - 0 HD - 31    Liberty - 0 HD - 33    Barbers Hill - 0 HD - 33    Dayton - 0 HD - 26    Cleveland - 0 HD - 32    Baytown Cedar Bayou - 0 HD - 41    Humble - 0 Bi-District: HD - 34    Beaumont French -6 Regional Final: HD - 39    Angleton - 0 1937 Season (12-0 Regional Champs) HD - 12      Anahauc - 0 HD - 47      Sour Lake - 0 HD - 34      Crosby - 0 HD - 26      Huntsville - 0 HD - 21      Cleveland - 0 HD - 26      Liberty - 0 HD - 21      Dayton - 6 HD - 43      Barbers Hill - 7 HD - 41      Baytown Cedar Bayou - 0 HD - 39      Humble - 7 Bi-District: HD- 6        Nederland - 0 Regional Final: HD - 21      Pasadena - 12 1938 Season (12-0 Regional Champions) HD - 2        Anahauc - 0 HD - 29      Sour Lake - 0 HD- 13        Beaumont French - 0 HD - 8        Dayton - 6 HD - 27      Crosby - 0 HD - 21      Liberty - 12 HD - 20      Barbers Hill -13 HD - 25      Cleveland - 6 HD - 27      Baytown Cedar Bayou - 2 HD - 34      Humble - 6 Bi-District: HD - 20      Port Neches - 12 Regional Final: HD - 13        Alvin - 6 1939 Season (9-1) HD - 32        Tomball - 0 HD - 50        Barbers Hill - 12 HD - 18        Nederland - 6 HD - 31        Liberty - 8 HD - 45        Jasper - 6 HD - 26        Yoakum - 0 HD - 26        Cleveland - 0 HD - 34        Dayton - 12 HD - 0          Humble - 13 Season Scoring: 1936: HD - 354 Opponents - 6 1937: HD - 337 Opponents - 32 1938: HD - 239 Opponents - 63 1939: HD - 262 Opponents - 57 4 Year Span: 43-1 HD- 1192 Opponents: 158 Somewhat amazing how much has changed over nearly 75 years. Not sure if Hull-Daisetta could beat any of the teams on these schedules now. Hard to believe that little town was able to accomplish that so long ago. Go Bobcats!!!
The answer to this is a big no. Not taking anything away from that 4 year run but I do not see one team HD would even make a game with today. Heck, back in those days aTm even won a national championship

This country is out of whack ! Feed the homeless, solve immigration, fix public education, etc, etc, etc. Who cares if Clemens juiced......Its MLB's problem.
Agreed!!!! Do I think he took HGH? Yes he took it, but thats MLB problem not the goverment. Too many other pressing issues in the country.
They had a "government official" stand before them and say....."I did not have sex with that woman".......they did not drag him into court for perjury
 10.
I love how Vidor has one good year. And every hillbilly comes out of the woodworks lol.
^^^ this
 11. They need to do now what should have been done after the fire in 86ish, then again when they built memorial.........use RSS for a 9th/10th campus and Memorial for an 11th/12th campus......the only way they will compete. Talent pool is way to diluted the way it is.
 12. Yes but the chance at being a coach at one of the most storied programs? I think he would listen. Heck, Darrell Royal was a freakin sooner.......lol
 13. I am in the middle on this one. It is not across the board that they are bad but "most" coaches just want to coach and sometimes that is reflected in the classroom they teach in. However, I have had some coaches as teachers that were really good.
 14.
Just telling the truth. I am a Fregia, I went to Hardin, have 3 sons that went to HD and I have grandsons that will be Bobcats and we live in Raywood. Two of the players at Liberty HS are Fregia's and two more coming into jr. high. These are just the ones I can speak of.
I am just picking Bobcat.........I remember coaching in pee wee football and HD would be playing Liberty. A coach would yell Fregia and heads would turn on both teams......lol
 15. Looks like the baseball coaches got complacent, fat and happy just like another sport at UT

The info I got is that they are both juniors and brothers. Heard they played at Barbers Hill and were decent size kids, probably 6'0 200lbs or more. Let's not forget Brady Ben was also a move in from BH last season, he is one of our top players at 6'2 230lbs.
It is HD after all, any kid is likely an improvement on another.  Especially if they are 6-2 and 230.  Nothing against Brady, but man how may 6-2 230 fellas you hiding in those woods anyway?  ;D
Brady is more like 6'0 215lbs, and yes we have some big kids. THe O-line this year is gonna be bigger than the last few years. We will average about 240lbs. Chris Taylor is a beast at 250lbs, Cook is 250lbs, Abraham is 230lbs and Stanley is 230lbs.
One of two things has to happen then, Jenny Craig needs to buy a single wide in Hardin County or you got to stop feeding them kids chitlins.  I mean, really!  You got 20 kids in 11th-12th grade and 5 can't fit on the bus.  "Taylor" .......  I think half the town of Hardin and Hull are Taylors.  ;D
Taylors and Fregia's
 18. Pats, if you remove that persons individuality he may be scarred for life.

I guess I'm just too old school.
Are you talking uniforms?
No. Beards, crazy hair styles, etc...
LOL... okay!  I remember a day when, as a memeber of our football team, you had to where shirts tucked, clean shaved and dress shoes on game day.  Or else you didn't play.  Coach Bill Bryant, Center, TX 89-90. I'm old school too.
Yep. Those days are long gone for most. I played for Al Dennis at Baytown Sterling (Class of 1983). You were free to dress however you wanted, but you were also free to NOT play football. This day and age that would get you a visit to the school board and a possible law suit.
I agree Pats.......I was Lee in '82, Kramer and Dennis were very similar in those regards.
 20. But, but, but......remember when we was good in the 70's..... Oh yeah, they also put Liberty County on the map.....lol. Nah, I think Price Daniels did that 8)
 21. I think that makes district champs in everything but boys basketball correct?
 22. Very True GCM......I think it is wrong but true

Dont you know BH dont allow that trait there?
I live in BH and my son attends BH......I like BH.......but it has it's stoopid too. LOL I guess my assessment is......the twins would be taking a gigantic step backwards. Now, if they want to attend BH, I have a room or 2 for rent..... ;D
 24.
Concussions in high school are a problem. This year all coaches have to go through a UIL concussion training course.   However, these former NFL players suing the league about concussions is BS!. You play a sport that basically requires you to bang your head against something repeatedly. What did they think was going to happen? I think the lawsuits will be settled out of court with the players getting better health benefits. Otherwise, the NFL will be sued out existence!
In the NFL or even college I think it is a more complex issue, and nothing can be proven one way or the other. If a player actually complained he was hurt and the "team" (coaches, trainers, doctors) all said nothing was wrong the player would have a gripe. Don't you think older guys that used to work in plants and refineries that have asbestosis or cancer directly linked to their profession have a gripe?
