As a previous poster noted, we do recruit players that we believe are legitimate players at the next levels.  We offer them an opportunity and some accept, and others do not.  On the list that was posted earlier on this thread, only 1 of those players is 'new' to our program.  I would not suppose to know what his (or his parents) thought process was but I would imagine that the fact that we have had 5 classes come through our program, and seen 75 of our players get college scholarships, might be a good reason.  Our record in the draft is equally good (we had 13 current or former Sun Devils drafted this year alone).  I also suspect the quality of competition and instruction may have played a role as did the 'word of mouth' from his HS teammates/opponents.  Maybe the simple fact that, on the HS Home Run thread, he noted that a Sun Devil was the leader.  Performance counts, too. Sometimes, people are better served tending to their own house (or, here, coaching and improving their own players instead of worrying about what we are doing).  That's what we do and that's why it works.  And, Jeff:  we have more of your guys calling us instead of us calling them.  I think that says it all, don't you? Best of luck to all teams, and players, this summer.
You can say whatever you want as I'm not gonna get into a discussion especially with someone SKOOLED in argueing, BUT the bottom line is the >>>money and in our economy who don't need help, IMO its kinda skirting a players amateur status by paying to play or the perps that go along with it. In all seriousness tho, you are getting players that are above ave ALLREADY and even without your help would be going to the next level. I also think your somewhat stretching the sheets when you say 'Sundevil players' when infact in the last few yrs you had them a yr or maybe 2 (sometimes a cpl of games) and someone else had made them what they are BEFORE you offered them a chance to play, but you guys have no problem throwing all other teams in the ditch by taking the credit. Seems as if your taking a pg from George Stienbrenners book on buying a team. BTW I predicted 2 months back in the home run thread exactly what happened with the Ex Gladiator. Heres an answer to your last 2 sentences directed at Jeff, what idiot would not want a free ride to play, along with the other perps>>>now that says it all....
What players ?
 2.
Gladiators play at Lamar this w/e, from the looks of the SD roster, seems as if a comment I made early on in the HS home run leaders thread held true with the SDs recruiting Gladiators players. Can't blame the >players but thats all I have to say about that...
What players ?

And with regards to answers to everything - nope -[glow=red,2,300] just reacting to the stereotyping that this board is famous for! 9.
Well it depends on how you look at it... that is kind of open ended. Are we talking about best player in high school ball, or best player that went on to play college and pros? There are players who are tremendous in high school but cant really mesh into a college or pro athlete. then you have your Jamal Charles's out there.. As far as best players for high school ball, I would have to put Troy Sumrall and Micah Mosely at the top of the list (for my era).
What about Sulivan kid was pretty good ...The two you listed ...very good also

 11. I think we should all wait and see who the starting QB is going to be in Nederland :D before we start sending kids off to play college football :o

So you want to dig up old stuff from one person. There was plenty of trash talk on both sides and plenty of fan behavior that embarrased both towns in the Nederland series. [glow=red,2,300]You do not want to go there[/glow]. But this team is much different and does not have the attitude issues on the field or in the stands. As I expected - tonite was a very classy game between two classy teams, much different than the Nederland series. Some of the comments the Nederland folks made on that thread last year are flat out wrong, but you can not fix stupid or prejudice. Well played game tonite.
BLA .BLA.BLA....WHATEVER.. I WAS AT HOUSTON LAST YEAR TO SEE HOW IT WENT DOWN....WIN TWO IN A ROW N.D.Ns..GOOD LUCK P.N.G SCALP-EM
 13. Hunter D will be fine ...That is what happens to a kid with range...always getting to the ones that nobody else what have even gotten  and the throw is off ....Good luck today N.D.Ns...stay back on the off speed
What do you think you have on video partner? I was there. The noisemakers were the only issue, and you were very rude, but do not know what your complex is about?? Looking forward to a fun series, and without the drama of 9doggie I can assure you!!
9DOGGIES I also was at the game and saw the guy with the 3rd class sign :P...WOW...Go get em N.D.NS SCALP-EM BABY..Keep it going..

 20.
Well sorry but Penny and Cool Hand Luke are making the rest of ya'll look bad then! They should probably just relax and enjoy their kids successes right now!  [glow=red,2,300]BulldogBacker is right though...looking at those sophomore/freshman (whatever you want to call it) scores...it does seem that Nederland baseball WILL have an even brighter future!!!  ;)  Sorry to burst a little bubble[/glow], Penny & Luke! Correct me if I'm wrong but is this the same group of boys that dominated in football too!? It seems like you have a talented group of athletes there. I would hope that the coaches would capitalize on that. I guess we will have to wait and see!
I think your missing the point of what I am saying so just forget it..It is not a competion YET :o And all Penny is doing ..is trying to put a fire out before it gets going...Is cool hand luke from Nederland ...you probably don't even know..MOM I think your looking for any little thing..The younger kids are very talented just like the kids on varsity now... were very good at that age..The younger boys will get a shot sooner than later...NOW lets back the dogs in the playoffs today 2010
 21.
Well I think GCM will do just fine!!!!!
