Dayton and Nederland offense looks like pop warner
ndnsrock44 replied to texans's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Yeah. I heard he doesn't like calling it a spread because a spread offense adjusts to what the defense is lined up in then calls the play..he wants the defense scrambling and adjusting to the offense at the snap of the ball. My bad! I went to the scrimmage today and our offense looked sharp..both 1st and 2nd team. Towards the end of the scrimmage the defense started bowing up a little. I think we are going to be balanced in his offense. I would hate to be his defensive coordinator and have to go against him in practice every day! There was a lot of intensity today and some hitting going on. For those who haven't read my posts at the PNG site...Faircloth is an equal oppurtunity butt chewer. You better not be half-a**ing it at any time during his practice or you will feel the wrath! All the kids I have talked to love him, even though he has worked them to death the last couple of months. These kids believe that they are part of something special with this new Chief. I am so fired up for this season... I can't wait! -
Dayton and Nederland offense looks like pop warner
ndnsrock44 replied to texans's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Wow. I didn't even know I had created a contraversy on another site. What I posted was intended for PNG fans. Maybe I was a "little" excited after watching our 1st practice. I didn't mean it as a slap to Dayton or Nederland. I just think that Faircloth has a better version of the spread. To me, Nederland is too one dimensional throwing the ball all the time. Dayton has incredible athletes, but from the few times I have seen them, they don't seem to show as many looks as what I saw Faircloth running. I have talked to kids that play for PNG and they say it is unreal the number of sets, plays and variations they have to learn. Let me make it clear that I think Nuemann has been the best coach in our district for YEARS. He develops his talent and adjusts his system to fit the strengths of his pesonnel. Also, Dayton is a BEAST of a football team. Coach Stewart definitely knows how to coach, that is very evident. Even though Dayton left our district, I was pulling for ya'll last season in the playoffs, as well as when ya'll were in our district. What I was pointing out was that I really like the way Faircloth coaches offense. I probably should have left out the Pop warner reference, but I doubt I am the 1st to overuse hyperbole on these message boards. Please don't compare me to the LTrain folks..they got on THIS site and stirred it up. I was on a PNG site with PNG fans. If you look at college football, how many versions of the "spread" do you see? Some mostly throw(TTech) some mostly run(WVU) and some are more balanced offenses. Thats all I'm saying... -
Update on the PN-G coaching situation
ndnsrock44 replied to HoopInsider_Cooper's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
The rumor about not having the budget is not true. PNG hired Wiley McKeller to be QB coach and promoted Welch. McKeller left after one year to take a OC job in Alabama, I think. They moved Coach Wallace from middle school to coach QB's when Mckeller left. This was probably a stop gap measure, but Wallace has continued to stay on the varsity staff. Rumors float around about a lot of stuff at PNG. People used to complain that we were a coach short after Coach Cummings(DC) left to become a principal. The truth was MB decided to hire his Uncle Riley Burnett and assumed the duties of DC himself. I was told by someone who definitely knows what happened and they said MB could have hired anyone to replace Cummings and chose to hire Riley Burnett as LB coach. I am not one to attack Coach Burnett, but I think he has to be held accountable for the hires he has made over the years. Lets not make excuses for him, he is a grown man and take care of himself. I hate that this is having to play out in the public eye. I think the school board has made a mistake making this public before the fact, if they are looking to replace him. I am not an insider and I have no clout at PNG, this is just my opinion on the subject. -
Question about PN-G, Central Fight
ndnsrock44 replied to prepballfan's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
SFA85.. do you ever have any posts that don't try to start crap? I live in PN and proudly voted for Obama. Real America is crap made up by McCain Palin, not on race, but the idea that somehow if you are a democrat you are not patriotic. You must be a really miserable person. I will be pulling for Central in the playoffs. You can read my post about the fight on the Central/PNG thread. I am a union member and am proud to support Obama as many other Mid County voters did. Maybe you need to listen to what he has to say about bitterness and the need to put that behind us and come together to move this country forward. I look at the measure of a man by his character, not the color of his skin. Can you say the same? -
This was very unfortunate. There were illegal blocks on the return, but that happens all the time when you have defensive players blocking on a return. I think a few kids let the frustration of the season overcome them, then things quickly got out of hand. It was not a proud moment for me. As far as the thug comment.... I didn't see Central act with anything but class and good sportsmanship throughout the game and the same on the PNG side until the end of the game where tempers flared. Blame can be assigned to both sides, so don"t try to blame this on Central. I hope this will be cleared up and there will be no lasting effects of this incident. Also, shame on the fans who cheered after the fight. That is not a good message to send to teenage boys. I hope both coaches ripped the players who were involved in this and made sure it is clear that this type of behavior is unacceptable. Good luck to Central in the playoffs. I know ya'll will represent 20-4A well.

RELIANT WEEK 0 PREDICTIONS PNG/LaMarque..Ned/Brenham??
ndnsrock44 replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
MC has to be the underdogs in these two games. I'm sure both teams will be ready to play. Win or lose, it will be a great experience for the kids and will pay off when district rolls around. -
Will PNG ever be good again?
ndnsrock44 replied to fbplayer999's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
We had plenty of talent last year on offense, but it was wasted by TERRIBLE coaching and playcalling. I'm not sure where this bigger better o-line is coming from. The backups on varsity last year were not bigger or better and the JV o-line had a lot of problems. What will help is if the rumors are true that Dustin Long is coming back as QB coach. Maybe he can help Welch with playcalling and keep Burnett's nose out of the offense. We lost 6 seniors on defense, including all our LB's, but we do havesome good ones returning. The Sr's we lost were Perkins(DT), Walker, Faseler, Fenton and Wright(LB's) and Matt at DB. We had talent, so let's don't put the blame on the kids. -

Even if the coach nominates him, he still has to have enough votes. There are some guys that got left off, but it happens every year. I hope Burnett nominated him and a few other guys from PNG that did not make it. Congrats to the guys who did make it! -

BH89... What is your problem with PNG? Every time you get a chance to take a shot at PNG you do. I can't imagine why someone from BH would be so posessed with PNG.
-
Nice article. Aaron has done a great job for us the past couple of years. He's a great kid and deserves to get some recognition.
-
We'll find out Friday.
-
Brenham only put in their backups on their LAST offensive series. Even on PNG's last offensive series their starters were in the game. Tune in Friday night and you will see what PNG can do against a good team. Brenham will beat a lot of people a lot worse than they beat PNG.
-
Barnett is a junior. BHFan... You must have left at halftime. We played Brenham pretty tough in the 2nd half. PNG 35-7. Our defnese will dominate a "human" team. Those guys at Brenham were superhuman!

Orangefield at PN-G (2002)
ndnsrock44 replied to Bobcatfan4life's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
bobkat... Why would your opinion of PNG go down? We don't control the refs. The saying about being down by a TD before the game is because of the homefield advantage the fans create, not because every ref in the Golden Triangle loves PNG and has it in their minds to cheat the other teams. The atmosphere wasn't there that night because of the small crowd, no band, Indianettes, etc. Sometimes big plays are developed because someone held a defensive player, that's a penalty whether you like it or not. I would have loved for PNG to have game-planned for OF that night, then we would have given ya'll a butt-kicking that couldn't be denied. If PNG people said that OF was the better team that night and so did PNG's coach, why are you whining about your opinion of PNG? If I remember correctly OF also was penalized at least twice for blatant personal fouls. I guess the refs were cheating there, too.Go find an Ozen fan and ya'll can have a whinefest. -
