Not sure how good Coldsprings is I hear the best Athlete they had on the Team is playing for St pius in Houston I will have to go with Liberty by 2 scores.
Yes, Easton Dean is playing football and baseball in houston, but saying that he had a great freshman season and average sophomore and jr season… I feel them moving him to OLB was a part of the problem

With the Trojans in the Slot T this time I say Coldspring by 12... This was a very close game last season although it should not have been if you're leading almost by 20 points going into the first half before the Panthers showed up in the 2nd half.
There was a lot of factors that went into that game last year… Stanley being out with his dad was the big factor as well…
Liberty will be good this year. Coldspring secondary is young. Should be a fun game to call Friday night

We will have this game live on am 1440 the score on tune in radio as well.
Coldspring looking to bounce back after a disappointing year last season with a lot of distractions throughout the footballs season. A new offensive scheme on the field as they are moving away from the double wing… should be a good one to start the season

Hey folks. Just wanting to gauge interest in possibly starting up a HS football podcast for our area. I already listen to a few podcasts from LSG like 59N and Grant/Terry’s two shows. They cover our area somewhat, but it’s usually a part of a bigger area or the entire state.
Bare minimum, the proposed podcast would run maybe 20-30 minutes and cover SETX teams week to week. Final scores, standings, and other bits of information along the way.
If we’re really getting after it, there’d be some extra stats, short interviews with coaches and some of the broadcasters in the SETX Sports group, and some highlights around the state. We could even expand into some of the other sports as the year goes on.
Again, just trying to gauge interest. Personally, I think it’d be good for not only our contingent on here in the forums, but folks in the area that want to keep up with our local teams.
Feedback appreciated!
Get with me and I would love to assist, I alredy do my podcast as well as a pregame show. I have what it takes to put togetheras well as in the process now of building my own website to host them

Correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t Coldspring ready to run out the guy currently at Whitney because he’s “the wrong coach”? And how’s he doing?
The Coldspring faithful are out of touch with reality. Coldspring, in the grand scheme of 3A high school football is average. The community thinks just because they have a higher average income they’re better than the communities around them.
I’m also going to point out that whoever Coldspring keeps or brings in will already be at a disadvantage because the kids will never fully buy into the program because parents won’t fully support a coach. And those parents that consistently won’t support whoever the coach is are the cancer from keeping Coldspring from getting over mediocrity. You can sit here and say “but the right guy can…” all you want but until there’s a genuine shift in the community’s mindset Coldspring will always be crying out for the next one.
You are correct. Parents buying in and supporting the program is key. That was fading when Barbay left, and went extinct. People are quick to throw we need to run the spread, but that’s been tried and was a fail
The guy that is at Whitney was brought in as a culture change. He left on his own after the super left.
Coldspring is a hard place to come and coach. There is some talent, but not the same talent that was here in the 90’s or 2009-2014 witch was the last years Coldspring made big playoff runs

Yeah it's unfortunate that we don't have a Ray Fisher, Johnny McHenry or Arthur Reece type of players running around Coldspring anymore but if I still believe that with the right coach in place here the players can do so much more but just not in that offense. If people on the school board didn't run off a certain coach from there then this would be a different conversation all together but I think if we get rid of our coach anytime soon then we need to start looking at other places outside of the local areas or go to some of those bigger schools with great success and see if we can lure in a coach that has a potent offensive scheme as well as a great defensive set.
The right coach can make a difference for sure.. In reference to the "certain" coach... It was superintent not the school board that was the issue, and at the time the board or the district wasnt in a place to get rid of the superintendent but will say that the program needed some major adjustments as far as disipline.
Coldspring will rise again, it doesnt happen over night

What impressed me the most was Centerville’s one point lost to Mart. I think it will be a close game. Should be a good one.
Picking Centerville but pulling for for a former team in our district, Corrigan Camden.I agree with you and I have been able to see Corrigan play this year. My choice in this game is merely on points allowed in district play. This will be a game of the week for me

59n Sports, well said. I agree on it all.
TrojanMojo agreed, again I was not bashing on Coldspring, I don't have a kid on the football team anymore. I did talk with about 5-6 players after the volleyball game Shepherd had in Coldspring, everyone was very respectful, but I just didn't get that IT factor that Coldspring always had. Not that they didn't want to win and they very specifically told me they were bring the trophy back home. But the true IT factor just wasn't there. If you know what I am trying to say.
I have questioned for a long time now, why Shepherd has had two Coldspring hometown guys running our program and on the coaching staff and now a third one, but they have not came back home to coach. I don't have the answer. I can tell you that Shepherd loves all three of those guys and they do a heck of a job turning our young guys in to men. We may not win all the time, but the greater picture is perfectly clear. Don't get me wrong everyone wants to win every game, but when you see the guys turned into fine adults that is truly the biggest win a coach can have.
Just an outside perspective.
You bring up a valid point, I think the 1 coach that has been there the longest doesn't make a move because he wants to stay out of the hometown politics. I know the Ad hasnt applied for the job for the simple fact of the timing in which job openings came. I have had several conversations with him about that over the years. He has also been devoted to the students of Shepherd and it keeps him in good with his BIL lol.... KEd being over there now has a lot to do with who the principle is.. they are close friend and grew up together... All 3 are a great asset to that program.

CC will go into the game 9-0 not allowing a single point in district so far! Centerville is 7-2 and undefeated in district as well…
which squad takes the title and clinches that first seed spot!! ?
Thia game here could go down in the record books in my opinion as CC will be on the road. Corrigan will play their toughest game of the season at the 2a level and make a big run in the playoffs, If the defense gives up 14 points I will be surprised.

IDk, Trojan Mojo, Trojan Worrior08..
Zero adjustments were made last night until the 4th quarter on defense. Coldspring had no answers to stop HD green. he ran at will and didn't get dirty until the 4th quarter. We were on top of the press box and were calling the plays before the huddle was broke. I agree it starts at the top. We have some stagnate coaches that need to go. We have an o-line coach that was a backup his senior year. I believe he loves the kids and the program, but he doesn't do anything to improve the playability of the kids. There is no technique. We do not have a secondary coach that coaches these kids... we have been burnt all year long down field, but that isn't what beat us this week. The trojans were merely out coached by the cross county rivals.
IDK, I agree with you 100%... Coldspring doenst have the same caliper of athletes that they once had, nor do they have the family depth that they had as well. This year was the first time that you really heard a Goffney, Bradford, Newson name in the program.. add to that the Sykes name as well.. these families have a deep heritage within the community that has seemed to skip a generation.
This program has done a great job with these kids over the last 4 years as far as tuning these kids into men. The discipline in this program is leaps and bound better that it was just 6-7 years ago. the mind set of these kids and the lack of personal foul penalties show that... the amount of these kids that have graduated and functioning adults in the world today speak for that as well...
As we sit here a contemplate why we won or lost, lets look at the greater picture in what the Athletic department is truly about
