  1. We have had reserved seats ever since going to the aluminum stands in the early 1990's. These 506 reserved seats will go on sale to current season ticket holders on Monday, Aug. 6th for two weeks. Then, on Monday, Aug. 20, the remaining seats will go on sale. There is plenty of time since we don't have a home game until Sep. 14th, which is Friendswood. FYI, Scouts and additional media, will be afforded seats in the old pressbox on the visitors side of the stadium, but of course, things are still be worked out and that could change. I'm doing splurge on season ticket sales week after next, and will take shots from different points of the stadium so fans can see what they will be looking at from each location.
  2. Thought you'd like to see the finished product. [Hidden Content]
  3. Rakim Cleveland played the past couple of years for the Broncos and started the season as a starter on the OL and a first line backup on the DL. There are two reasons a player at Dayton or any school falls off the roster. One is they get fired for breaking team rules or some other kind of activity, and the other is grades. Six weeks into the season, Rakim was missing from the roster. He turns up at Baytown Lee and you know the rest. Not sure about the transfer rules or eligibility rules, but he started the season as a Bronco and is now a Gander. Don't know if that's a fowl, or not, but that's about as candid as I can put it.
  4. Can you post a link - for some reason I can't get to the link for the broadcast
  5. No matter the opponent, Texas City or Rosenberg Terry, the date, time, and site of the game have been determined: Friday, Nov. 24, 7 p.m. at Stallworth (Baytown)
  6. Because New Caney (3-1) still has to play Galena Park and Crosby and will lose both.
  7. That's quickness. We have to be quick of foot. Speed? No, we're not that fast. We did not qualify a single person out of last year's regional track meet for state - again, it's quickness vs. speed, and we are lacking in the former.
  8. Sorry BH, but there's no realistic comparison. District 21 4-A has three teams, Smiley, Forest Brook, and C.E. King from the former lineup and Huffman and New Caney added this year that are very weak teams. That's five weak teams. I mean New Caney even beat C.E. King this past Friday 40-37 on a 90-yard K/O return with 28 seconds left. There are no "weak teams" in 22-4A, not like this anyway. In order Barbers Hill, Crosby, and Galena Park, rule that district and will go to the playoffs, IMO. GP will go the "big school" route leaving BH to face our second place "small school" team and Crosby to face, most likely Dayton. This week, BH will destroy Huffman, then host C.E. King before traveling to Galena Park. I think they will win those last two quite handily and win the district outright. This biggest measuring stick for the strength of the two districts is the lone fact that 21-4A is all but decided, yet there is much to be determined in 22-4A and a total re-shuffle is not impossible. At this time, no team can be counted completely out. By this Friday, a more realistic picture will form, but it's not done yet. In two weeks we'll KNOW if Nederland is a contender or pretender. Central and Dayton are contenders, but Nederland's posture in the mix will have to be known since they have the numbers to be the district's "large school" representative. Dayton would appear to have Crosby the leading candidate for first round playoff possibilities, should things continue like most posters on this board have projected. Anyway, that's how I see it. Based on quantity of quality teams, 22-4A would have a distinct advantage. A sweep of playoff games or getting a split of 2 wins against 1 loss is the only way to disprove this statement, and I just don't see that happening in the first round of the playoffs. For what it's worth, that's how I see it.
  9. piratefan, you need to get a clue 77, Some of the fans had obligations at the Trinity Valley Exposition Fair and Rodeo going on last week, Wed - Sun. One of the OL was even at the auction Friday afternoon where he sold his first place chicken. This is our South Liberty County Fair and lots of people were necessarily otherwise involved.
  10. The Dayton Broncos came into this league under the "mis-direction" of a UIL Board with an agenda contrary, IMO, to common sense, but that's a whole new topic. The Broncos came into this district to challenge, and now find themselves in a position of being challenged by those remaining on their schedule. They have a sense about them of not thinking they are better than any district team they face. That is why each week they come into the game knowing they have to perform to the best of their collective and individual abilities or face getting their helmets handed to them. They are undersized and not very fast. They have quickness, but overall team speed is less than what many of the teams they face have, including, but not limited to the Beaumont Central team they will meet this week. They do play hard, and they are extremely well coached and prepared for each team they face. They play hard from beginning to end and they do not quit. This, IMO, is the recipe for the success they are having. Will be there Friday night - I'll be roaming the Bronco sidelines along with my photographers.
  11. LC-M got their first "first down" of the ball game at the 7:40 mark of the third quarter. They got, three, possibly four more and that was it. Mike Dugat had 198 yards rushing on less than 20 carries. Players of the Game? The Bronco Defense. It's true - Offenses sell tickets, defenses win championships. Go Broncos.
  12. [Hidden Content] With the TVE Fair and Rodeo, the parade, the weather, I've been slow to get the sports up, but here you'll find write-ups on Dayton vs Vidor, New Caney vs. Barbers Hill, and other games in our coverage area. Interesting are comments from Dayton's defensive and offensive coordinators.
  13. After reading all the questions about not seeing any stats from last Friday's game, I went to the coaches' office this morning and picked up their stats. Coaching stats are done while watching the game film, so there's no guessing or approximations. First of all, to set the record straight, Anthony Williams, on his punt return, gathered the ball in at the 39-yard line, went back as far as the 24 or 25, and then went the distance for the TD. It was a 61-yarder, and I watched it on film, with the coaching staff, Saturday morning. DAYTON Rushing - 35 - 444 yards - 5 TD's - 12.69 yards per carry Passing - 5 attempts with 5 catches for 124 yards and 3 TD's - 24.8 yds per catch Total yardage - 568 yards on 44 plays with 7 TD's, avg. 12.91 per play. INDIVIDUAL Rushing: RB Mike Dugat - 10 carries, 218 yards and 3 TD's 21.8 avg. per carry. QB Cody Green - 13 carries, 86 yards, 1 TD, 6.62 yards per carry . . . . . . . . . . . note - four carries were QB sneaks late in the game to run out the clock and turn the ball over and he still came up only a couple of yards short. Andrew Thomas - 5 carries for 55 yards at 11 y.p.c. AJ Dugat - 4 carries for 64 yards at 16 y.p.c. Paul Fontenot - 1 carry for 15 yards John Gable - 2 carries for 6 yards LUMBERTON Rushing: 36 for 160 yards Passing 21 attempts, completed 10 for 62 yards Total yards - 222 (85 came on one drive late in the fourth quarter) 5 of 11 on 3rd down conversions - 45% Sorry, individuals not available for Lumberton. Dayton emptied the bench. Everyone got to play.
  14. I really don't have anything to say, it's irrelevant anyway. I'm not trying to be coy, or smart, but I'll let the Broncos do my talking on the football field because after all, that's the only place it matters. What we think or say is totally irrelevant because we're not out there getting our noses bloodied. 'nuff said.
  15. I finally decided after weeks to register so I could set the record straight on Dayton and why they win. I'm not a smack talker, nor do I get involved in a bunch of that kind of fodder, but I do know football and am very keen on Bronco sports, especially football. I'm the Editor of The Dayton News, and have been the Dayton pressbox announcer for 15 years (I think that's right). None of you have hit it. Dayton has selective speed at selective positions on defense, but overall team speed is nothing like you hear or read about from many of the top Golden Triangle Schools. The lines on both offense and defense are small. They are made up of some great kids who are strong, but "speed," the kind that kills, is not an issue here. The Dayton Broncos are made up of a group of great kids who love the game of football, but what makes them better than they should be is that they are so well COACHED. Head Football Coach and Athletic Director Jerry Stewart is in his 11th season at Dayton, his longest tenure anywhere, by a long shot. He loves the community, he loves the school, he loves the administrators over him, but most importantly, his loves his kids - his athletes in all sports, but football holds a special place because that's his forte and because the sport itself is so dear to him. That being said, Coach Stewart has a very loyal and competent coaching staff, made up of coaches, the core of which has been with him for many years. They know what to expect from their boss and more importantly they know what they are doing. Watch this staff during a game and you'll find out more about the Broncos than most people find out by watching just the action on the field. Of course, there are always going to be the disgruntled parent, or sister, or aunt or uncle who's "kid" they didn't feel got as good a shot as he or she did in some sport, but though some might argue individually about Coach Stewart and staff, they certainly can't argue with the results over his last 10 years - 10 straight playoff appearances including six as district champions, and that includes some years being in a district with Ozen, Jasper, Silsbee, and others. The Dayton Broncos will play you, and they will play you hard from the beginning of the game until the end. They will show up in shape and scrap with you. This is certainly not to say that they'll win each and every contest, but they will be in it until the end and if you relax before the game is over, they just might take it away from you. 'Nuff said. You have my personal opinion. PS. It is somewhat amusing after reading the comments on this forum last week how the worm has turned. The Broncos, I'm sure, appreciate the kudos, but it doesn't mean a thing. They respect the history and tradition of each of the teams in District 22-4A, which is why they'll be ready each week to tee it up - and that in itself is another reason they could do well in this district. They're not in danger of letting anyone in this league sneak up on them - they will be prepared. End of story.
