1. Someone posted Weller. Isn't it Waller? I have two great nephews who play for Lorena, a senior and a sophomore.
2. This is pathetic. Most of you guys post anything you want to say all hiding behind your user name. Don't come on here and tell us you don't like Stewart, his AD activities, or any of his coaches - Coach doesn't hide or shrink from anybody. He's easy to find. Find him and tell him - if you dare. Otherwise shut the hell up.
3. Pflugerville Connally spanked Montgomery 33-8 last night and will meet today's winner on Friday, Nov. 23 in The Woodlands. Haven't read of a time, but guess we'll know later today.
4. Then, someone needs to learn the difference between fact which leads to a scoop or an unfounded OPINON that leads nowhere.
5. So, what was the "scoop" and what happened to the "revealing" thread. Looks like someone is either trying to cover their tracks or eliminate incriminating evidence.
6. Well, from 5 - 7 pm I'll be tuned into ESPN2 watching my Lady Baylor Bears take on the Lady Wildcats from Kentucky, so first one tuned in who hears something, post it so I can read it later. Thanks.
7. So what was the big "revealing" about the SC vs Dayton game? Looking over the board, unless I missed it, not a single comment has been made, so I'm curious as to what it was?
8. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ It's certainly not hard to see how this guy came up with his user name!
9.
TALENT wins! You can take bad or adequate coaching at best and win a few games if you have some talent, you can take average talent and excellent coaching and win a bunch; no coaches are winning without talent!
I used to think the same way, but that was before I was introduced to the Jerry Stewart coaching philosophy. Ever since he arrived in Dayton he's made a difference. He stepped in, removed staff he felt was either negative or non-productive, replaced them with others he knew were positive and productive, and began writing a new tradition of Dayton Bronco Football - a tradition of winning, by the way. In his 16 years as head coach and now 2nd year as AD, the Dayton Bronco football team has won more district titles than in all the years combined before he and his staff got here. Now, I used district titles rather than playoff numbers because the rules for getting into the playoffs became much more liberal when they started adding playoff teams to where four times as many teams get into the playoffs than did for the most of the history of Texas football. The fact that coaching is everything is proven by the fact that in the wake of the Broncos' many victories are many teams who had scads more talent that Dayton had, but it didn't matter because the Broncos were better coached. You won't find a football coach out there who will disagree - it's all in the record books. Dayton can beat you no matter what kind of talent you have. Ask Kerrville Tivy. The point was reinforced on the college level when Art Briles came to Baylor. Now, the difference between college and high school is you determine your own talent through recruiting, so not only does a coach have to be "great" in the X's and O's, but he's also got to be a great recruiter. Not only that, but he also has to know the talent and be able to develop that talent. Some say he was only successful because he had RG3. Well, who's the #1 offensive team in the entire country right now? Remember, other great coaches such as Mack Brown didn't see RG3 as a QB, but rather as a WR or defensive back. Art saw him not only as a QB, but one who could win the Heisman and told him so when he recruited him to Baylor. No, talent is important, but it takes a seat in the back of the bus to coaching. Coaching is EVERYTHING, because without it, you can have all the talent in the world, but you're going to lose to a team that is properly and very well coached.
10. Because those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Enjoy your "butt-kicking" on Friday night.
11. Just ask any of Dayton's district foes (since 1996) - How did it go for you playing Dayton the year after you beat them? Did you ever beat the Broncos two years in a row?
12. I attended a playoff game there in '09 and there was no charge to park. If they did, it would be a first and somehow, I just don't see them needing the money. They are a rich school district as all those plants in the area will attest.
13. Stratford's QB is Jeremiah Briscoe, once highly recruited who struggled early at Stratford after playing a year ago and Houston 2nd Baptist. A friend of mine who has a granddaughter at Willis saw their playoff game. About Briscoe, he says he is a very poised QB who leads his team with very consistent play and knows how to move the chains. Now, get this. I first met Jeremiah at the home of one of my best friends, his grandfather. And to this day, that home is in Beaumont where his grandfather and grandmother both still live.
14. Magnolia West vs Dayton (home team) Galena Park Stadium 7 p.m. Saturday - sorry about that, but the day had already been posted.
15.

Just help me to understand .... If a team finished first in their district they have a bye the first week?
NO, everyone plays every week
Sorry, but you are absolutely and completely WRONG. Had the poster asked only about 5-A, 4-A and 3-A (I think, but you might take a closer look) you would have been correct, but in 2A there are SEVERAL BYES because they didn't have enough teams to fill every district, so certain districts get the byes, not only in football, but in every sport they play. Look at the playoff bracket provided and scroll down to 2A. FYI
16. THOUGHTS All I can remember is all the talk and posting by Golden Triangle fans when the Broncos were thrust into this district just a few years ago. If not a concensus, at least a large majority just knew Dayton was stepping into a meatgrinder and would do well to finish in the middle. FACT After a two year 13-1 record in 20-4A, the most welcomed site by 20-4A fans was seeing Dayton returned to 19-4A.
17. OK, I'll start the list: Barbers Hill posters, at least for awhile . . .  ;)
18. Stupidity marked by egregious ignorance. Last week at the Dayton vs Angleton game the Wildcats kick an onsides sky-kick that was caught in the air by one of their players. Genious, up in the stands, is hollering at the top of his lungs, "No one touched it! No one touched it!" It wasn't a punt - it was an embarrassment. If you never played the game and don't truly know the game, then don't jump up and shout out your ignorance when something happens you only think you know about.
19. OK guys and gals, You can vote more than once, so get busy and Vote DAYTON VS EISENHOWER as the Click2Houston game of the week. [Hidden Content] Poll is on the right and just a bit down.
20. We've got a bye Week One, genius. I suppose you meant week one of district but that's not what you wrote. You mean that, or Week 4.
21. There was no blocked punt. There was a blocked field goal and a pressure on the punt. Nederland's end man on the left of the punter came in unmolested and Carranco had to turn his body to the right to get the kick away causing it to shank even more to the left and go out of bounds after about 30 yards. The cause was that our punt OL was not spread out enough giving that end a short route to the punter. I'm sure they'll fix that, FYI. It was a hustle play by the Nederland defender. I think he was also the one who got the block on the field goal attempt.
22. Nederland is going to have to work on their kicking game. Kickoffs consistently only got to the 15 and they missed a PAT causing them to go for two later and they also missed out on that one. Dayton opened it's first possession of the second half with a 58-yard run by Ryan McBride that pretty much took the wind out of Nederland putting them behind, 21-7. A turnover pass INT on Dayton's next possession gave the Bulldogs a short field and they took advantage of it with a drive for score. However, this is when they missed the PAT, leaving the score at 21-13. The Bulldogs would score one more time after an impressive drive, and then went for the two-points to tie, but failed and were down by two, 21-19. Dayton backup QB Markain Chambers who Dayton used for the entire second half, scored from nine yards out to put the Broncos up 28-19 after Carranco's PAT and that's how the game ended.
23. Would have posted this on the other thread, but wanted to be sure it got seen. Checked this morning and Fr and JV will go at 5 pm with varsities to follow at 7 pm This will be a "game situation" scrimmage in all aspects including special teams (i.e. kick off returns, punt returns, etc.). All penalities will be enforced - four-twelve-minute-quarters. Press box active during varsity "game."
24. Better check the time. I was told while talking to Stewart and Hancock the other day that it all gets started at 5 pm, not 6. There is just no way the varsities can get warmed up if they don't have 30 minutes so there's no way the fr and jv scrimmages could start at 6 and the varsities follow at 7. The spring schedule said the same thing but didn't get started until 6:30 and it was 8 before the varsities played.
