  1. Who's defense are they running?  Who's putting together the gameplan?  If I remember correctly K-ville also has an offensive coordinator, but Alvarez calls the plays.  Sometimes the title is just a title. Not taking anything away from Vanya though, the guys a great coach and will be a head coach again as soon as he wants to be.  IMO Kirbyville has the best coaching staff in the area regardless of classification.
  2. How was Coach T's defenses at Palestein and Huntsville when he was away from his comfort zone in WOS?
  3. Is it predetermined, and if so how soon?  Are they going to wait until the finalists are set before they set a site? Kirbyville playing Muleshoe in Houston or Tyler wouldn't make much sense.
  4. That A&M Consolidated team was dang good that year.
  5. I think WT is the area, even better than Cornel.  Go back to the past 7 years, since K-ville has been a playoff team and look at how many shutouts they have had.  Then look at how many shutouts he has this year.  And he's doing it this year with about 8 or 9 new starters on defense. Also look at his defenses at Newton.  In Newton's first year without him they give up 40 to Orangefield.  WT is a difference maker whereever he goes.
  6. Good post Bobcat4life.  OF does tend to support their kids regardless of the outcome.
  7. It would be tough to not include Chris Brooks and Ken Scott on the Newton squad as D-lineman.
  8. Is Huckaby gonna play?  I wasn't at the game, but I heard he was thrown around like a rag doll.  I don't think it will matter either way though. Until OF stops someone on defense they will have a hard time winning.  No matter how good an offene is, you can't get in an offensive shootout every week and expect to win.  The good news is that BC won't be as fast as Silsbee, so OF will keep it a little closer. BC by 10.
  9. I think either one of Brook's 1st round opponents will be a very good test for them.  Pearland is traditionally one of the better programs in the Houston area and well coached.  Deer Park is also a good team.  The guy at DP was a longtime Katy assistant and a very good coach as well.  Those 2 teams are tougher matchups than what the would see in the D2 bracket, but hopefully WB will continue to improve and pull off some upsets.
  10. Good win for the WB program.  Congrats. I see a 3-way tie for 1st place after GPNS leaves Beaumont in week 10.
  11. I heard the field is in good condition and pretty dry.  Bad news for the Orangefieldians.
  12. Newton/Kirbyville Week 10 and for all the marbles, just like it ought to be.  Southeast Texas' two best shots at a state title prepping for the playoffs and bragging rights.
  13. Waco Midway 14 Ennis 0 WOW!  I would love to know the last time Ennis has been shut out.  I bet its never happened under the Sam Harrell era.

  15. Orangefield is a much improved team, probably the most improved in SE Texas. That goes to show you what a new coach, who brings belief and discipline can do. That being said I don't think they will beat Silsbee. Not that Silsbee is a great team, or even shows up to play their best week in, week out, but I don't think Orangefield can stop them. The Silsbee defense vs. the Orangefield offense will determine the game. Can Orangefield score enough to stay in the game is the question. Up to this point Orangefield hasn't really turned the ball over much, so the Silsbee defense will have to play good sound defense and make some stops. Someone mentioned earlier about fundamentals. I think Orangefield is very sound in fundamentals, but defensively it don't matter much if the kids aren't put in the right position to succeed. Thats the big problem right now,IMO. The fundamentals, and effort from the kids ain't hurting OF, its schematical.
  16. West Brook is down a little, but getting a little better, and PAM is finally playing up to their talent level. Any time you beat North Shore you accomomplished something and must be pretty good. I'll go with PAM in a high scoring, close contest. PAM by 8.
  17. The QB at LCM is hard to go against. Anybody leading their team back from a 28 point deficit and having a hand in 6 TD's deserves the nod. If Tasha Tebow did this at Florida he would be engraved in Mount Rushmore and be next in line for the Pope......... Someone might need to double check, this might already be in the works. :
  18. All teaching is some of the time is a full time babysitting job. Some parents just send their kids off to school because they have to, they don't care what they do, what grades they make, or if they are even getting anything out of it. Teachers are expected to be miracle workers in many cases, and educate kids they have no ambition, drive, and don't even want to be there. At home, its kind of like "what happens at school stays at school." When trouble starts and problems come up (grades, discipline) its the teachers fault. Throw in the pay and it sure ain't worth the headaches you have to put up with.
  19. Good win for LCM, and this is one you'll remember for a long time. New coach and staff, struggling a little, then to have a great come from behind victory like that against the district champs from a year ago is a great building block. Wins like that are what programs can be built upon. Good luck with the rest of the year.
  20. Kirbyville by a very comfortable margin. Hemphill won't make it a game, but Kirbyville won't put it on them too bad. Coach Hall at Hemphill is good friend with Coach Alvarez and Coach Johnston at Kvile.
  21. LOL! Please. If you are so convinced take it to the district commitee or the UIL. I'm sure they will look into all the "factul" claims and make North Shore forfiet the season. Good Luck! :
  22. Aymond can't coach that well? Go back and check how many games the man has lost the last 10 years or so. Until this year the only time North Shore usually loses is in the playoffs. During the past 7 or 8 years the team that usually beats them goes on to play in the state title game. So while they may only have 1 title, the road to the state championship game goes through North Shore. Converse Judson has beat them in the semi's on more than 1 occasion, last year it was Hightower, Pearland, Westfield and others have beat them also. I think Aymond runs one of the better programs in the state and has the record to back it up. I'm sure he would have like to have won more than 1 title, but this is Texas high school football. In any other state North Shore would be perennial champions. The loss to PAM looks like one of the worse losses he has suffered, and that not a slight to PAM, but lets let the season play out to see how good PAM ends up, and where North Shore ends up. As far as the "recruiting" comment goes, that sounds like sour grapes, and I'd bet the house you have no facts to back that up. This ain't Florida, in Texas there are rules in place that prohibit that kind of crap.
  23. Who knows what the real story is as of now. I've heard 3 different scenarios of what happened, but regardless of what happened I don't see what the school can do until there legal matter that takes over. If it happened off campus, not during school hours, and the law isn't involved, I don't think it should be a school issue. If and when the law gets involved then they can talk suspension and so forth. Until then I think the WOS district is making a mistake.
  24. If they can do without some key players this is a good game to miss. Starters won't play much anyway.\
