1. Playing Orangefield after the other 5 teams will be like a scrimmage.
2. With Gilmer and Carthage in region 2, WOS, Jasper and Kirbyville all could be considered the teams to beat in region 3.  I could see Kirbyville in the semi's again.
3. In that district, it will be nearly as easy as the 2A one they were in.
4. Good for Silsbee, HJ, BC, and Orangefield, both Jasper and Kirbyville went north.  Looks like they still all have a chance at the playoffs.
5.
Yates VS any team in the NBA!!! YATES WINS! Yates VS any college!!! YATES WINS! Yates VS the Harlem Globetrotters!!! YATES WINS! I pick Yates to win all of those because of all the talk about them on here. I don't even have to see them play, but with the obsession you have with them they must be good to have so many bandwaggoners.  ::)  ::)
I could care less for Yates, but Orangefield needs to worry about beating Sabine Pass.
6.
Brook will be good.  I think easily the best in this area.  But, to make a deep run, they still have to beat the likes of Katy, Westfield, Hightower, etc.   It's still a longshot to get past three rounds.
Good post.  I think this could be the best West Brook team since Ambres' senior year, but getting past round 3 will be tough.  Being the best in this area is one thing, but being the best in region 3 is entirely different.  I'm hoping they will continue to improve on defense, that will determine their chances of making a deep playoff run.  I expect them to be pretty good, but I'm not expecting them to make it past the quarters.  Good luck though, I hope I'm wrong.
7.
To those biddy ball dads: Joseph Young broke into the top 100 ESPN rankings.
WOW!  Great news!  Thanks to Coach Wise's supreme coaching I'm sure.
8. Dove, is the point to win the game, or is it just to score 100 points.  It seems like to me Wise would be just as happy scoring 120 and losing than scoring 90 and losing. The guy is straight up classless, and a borderline ghetto thug.  I'm sure the Yates kids would benefit much much more from lessons of humility, class, respect, and learning how to be multiple and playing more than one style.  The ghetto needs that much more than they need a MYTHICAL #1 national ranking.
9. I'm sorry, I meant in SE Texas.  I doubt he will be top 50 in the state, but I think he'll move into the top 100 before its all said and done.
10. In a game this past week against Westbury, a game in which Yates won 94-64, Yates showed more arrogance, disrepect, and extreme lack of class.  Westbury, for most of the game used a slow tempo offense, trying to keep Yates from the 100 point barrier.  Needing 6 points in the final 1:30, already up 30 for most of the game, Yates decided to immediately foul after Westbury inbounded the ball, sending them to the free throw line, so they could get the ball back and get to 100 points.  Straight up lack of respect, and border line thuggery. I can't wait to see the Yates', and Greg Wise lovers to defend this BS.
11. Wouldn't surprise me if they did.  I watched the news last night and PA had 3 robberies yesterday.  Not bad for a city with only 60,000 people.  Port Arthur makes Beaumont look like Evadale.
12. I only saw him ran down from behind only 2-3 times.  There were several occasions where the got him with a good pursuit angle.  There was also a kid from C-C that ran him down once or twice, but thats not a knock on Ford.  C-C won the state track meet last year, and set the 2A record in the 4x400. I would be surprised if he didn't run a low 4.5 or a legit 4.4.  He should be one of the biggest sought after recruits in the class of 2011.
13.
your wasting your time here in setx.lamar has this place locked down!!!
The best of the best will still get out of town, like they always have.
14. Great video, and nice to see ol Coach Peveto, a SE Texas boy.  It might be kind of a hard sell though, since they were 0-11 last year.
15. Holy Smoke!  What a Hire!  This guy can flat out coach and is a coaching legend in the Dallas area.  He won two 5A state titles (93, 96, I believe) with the Lewisville Fighting Farmers, and did it with lesser talent than many of the teams he did it against.  Barbers Hill just got better with the guy.
16. 1. Newton                            Nuetral 2. Dayton                            Rise 3. WOS                                Fall 4. Kirbyville                          Rise 5. Nederland                        Fall 6. Jasper                              Rise 7. Central                            Nuetral 8. West Brook                      Rise 9. 17.
When a coach decides to shop around for jobs that he has no intention of taking, whether a school district approaches you or not, to get a raise from you current school, is no longer in it for the kids. IMO
WHAT?  Forget the fact that coaching is his livelyhood, and when the opportunity presents itself for him to make more money, or get a little leverage to make more money he should do it everytime.  I guess its ok for anyone else, in any other profession to do the same thing though.  Congrats on Coach Sanifer's raise, and being one of the top paid coaches in Texas.  He deserves it.
18.
WOS will be back in 2010
We keep hearing this on a yearly basis.  They were suppose to be the real deal last year, but weren't.  IMO WOS days of a state title participant are well over, esp. with the 3A numbers steadily going up, and once-mighty 4A's dropping down. WOS will be a perrennial 3rd/4th round participant before bowing out to a team they should beat.
19. Newton should be included on any list, most likely #1. If you are going back 10 years you can drop West Brook and add Kirbyville too.
20. What about the sup's that put in raises for themselves, notably the over paid, under achieving, great Dr. Thomas.
21.
Barbers Hill is one of the highes paying school districts in Texas.  They also have a great  school system.  I'm willing to bet they will have to really good guys to choose from before its all said and done. They should throw a little money out there and try to get a guy like Andy Evans.
Dang, I called it 2 months ago.  BH should hire me as their hiring firm.  Put me on the payroll.  :D
22. Sandifer would be a big time hire.  This guy is one of the best in the entire state, and has done it with kids very similar to what Barbers Hill has.
23. Surely it has to do with the on-campus incident that happened during the season.
24. If the award goes to the player with the best stats and best season then it goes to Fred Ford, if they give it to the hometown boy, within the city of Beaumont it might go to Reyes. Ford will be the runaway winner.
25. What's insane is there are people on this board that claim to be basketball "smart", and think that Lamar is a decent program.  Lamar is a below-average-at-best college program, and thats all they will ever be.
