Navasota beating Wheatley and HJ let's me know they have some dang good talent. I don't know if Silsbee wins by 20 plus but I just hope we win. Silsbee needs to remember Jasper 2009 in Regionals! 

I was really impressed by the hustle last night of Grubbs, Dontre Thomas, Newton, and Mackey. Each of these guys were all over the floor on defense and on the floor for lose balls. Great team win Tigers. I also like the way Devon, Jordyn, and Harris attacked the basket for buckets and not rely on 3 pointers every time. As long as Silsbee continues to crash the boards and play defense, I think k everything will be just fine. 

Final was 5-2.

The game before this Smith lit Jordan up for 37 points. After the game Jordan said the Smith told he "Nice game, Mike" and in a interview Jordan said he would put that many points on Smith in the first half the next time they played, witch was the next game. Jordan ended the first half with 36 points. Three things you didn't do in the 90's, you didn't step on Superman's cape, you didn't spit into the wind, and you didn't piss Jordan off.

He was a heck of a high school player and is best known for talking smack to Jordan and then getting 49 dropped on him in 3 qtrs the following night. 

Labradford Smith was just too much for Silsbee. 

I'm kinda partial to the 84-85 team. Only lost two games that year, one to #1 Lincoln and one in the Regional finals to Bay City by four points. Oh, after the lost to Lincoln the first time we played them we beat them the second time we played them. The game with Bay City in the Regional finals was as a very good game.

I was at this game. Silsbee made the winning shot at the end of the game. The refs counted it but the timekeeper did not put it on the score board. There was a meeting at the scorers table with the refs and coaches, someone pulled the scorers box off the scorers table and turned over the scorers table and then all he)) broke lose.  Needless to say the points where not added and Silsbee was cheated out of a win to go to the playoffs that year.

Unfortunately Silsbee was in the district with Beaumont Hebert and only 1 team made the playoffs back then.
Silsbee lost a heart breaker against Hebert in 79 in the old Panther gym in Pear Orchard. The game was marred with a post game brawl between players and fans. Had to have a Police escort out of Beaumont. 
I will go to my grave saying Silsbee was screwed by the refs and the timekeeper.

Yes, Silsbee had to play a double header. Silsbee beat a very good Vidor team, then played a state ranked team in Jasper. A tough first day draw for Silsbee.  

Lamar beat two top 25 teams this week. Not bad, not bad at all!!!

If you wanted to see pitching and good defense this was the game. Memorial was able to get a few hits late in the game to retake the lead and win. Silsbee needs to get their bats working!

I also talked with Jones dad at the game and I asked him myself is Tre' coming home he wouldn't give me a straight answer and just  laughed it off! He told me Tre' played the PG at Legacy  in basketball ( damn Tre' is about 6"4 maybe 6"5 and can handle the ball like that) and I know QB in football and from my understanding a pretty good baseball player so yep he could help the Tigers in all sports even track!

Dontre' Thomas had, and still has my vote for this award! Fortunately both of my son's had the opportunity to play rt tackle  and back up qb this year for DT.  I can say they couldn't have had a better QB/Team leader. Dontre worked his a$$ off over the summer, and this season he set records. He had respect from all his teammates, made 5 second game winning decisions, to say the least.  He is an outstanding kid and athlete! As much as I hate that he is not getting the recognition/respect from some in our area, I can only hope that he knows how much love we SILSBILLIES have for him!  Again such a great kid!!! Much love DT!!! I'll definitely be makeing a trip to Kilgore next year! 

Five games. 

Well we have played select ball forever it feels like. If a kid is pitching and playing that much that's all on the PARENT for thinking little Johnny is going to be the next big thing. We have been lucky enough to have coaches that actually cared for their players and want them to go to the next level. Lessons at 8 isn't a bad thing. If your kid enjoys it why wouldn't you want him to learn the fundamentals early. Sure beats trying to fix him later after 5 years of some coach who has no clue what he's doing telling him to get his "elbow up" JS

I am a firm believer in the value of summer/select baseball, however, I do think it can be overdone. For example, when my son Zach was in 5th grade he was playing select and his team qualified for the World Series in Panama City Beach, FL. He ended up playing 63 games from March - July. Thats a lot for any kid let alone a 5th grader. I'm not a believer of year around any sport, kids have to be diverse and college coaches are looking at those kids more and more. Just my opinion.

My understanding is a student athlete can play one game a school week night, Friday night is not a school night. In tournament play ( Thursday thru Saturday) the maximum games per day is three and six games per tournament. You can play 0 tourney and 23 games or 1 tourney and 20 or 2 tourney and 17 games or 3 tourney and 14 games before playoffs start.  

I think anyone in 24-4a (BC, LCM, Silsbee, HJ, WOS) could make a deep run. District title is going to be a dog fight to the end. Hopefully we don't beat each other to death before we get to the playoffs!
