  1. Should be a good scrimmage that benefits both teams. One thing is for sure, this seasons broncos will be SALTY.
  2. BOOOOO! Pull a Spurrier, adjust the votes and put Hill and Jenkins on the first team.
  3. The sun is out, the birds are chirping, it's time to wake up an quit dreaming BHFAN. My crystal ball predicts at least 3 district losses for the eagles. Although, the view of Dayton coasting into the playoffs should be pretty good from that massive new pressbox you guys are building.
  4. With ideas like these, it makes me wonder what we've been doing all these years, maybe the uil could ban jock straps to put a dent in the teen pregnancy rate. Surely this would solve overpopulation, dependence on foreign oil and global warning. That's it, I'm writing obama and demanding that campee be appointed czar of uil football rules. Promise me that I'll have a position in the think tank.
  5. Good call campee. Maybe the UIL could also waive steroid testing and no pass/ no play for any school that has three consecutive losing seasons. This way, schools would be more likely to field winning teams. OR...if a team is up by 38 points they have to play without helmets until the game is within 20 points. This would allow the losing team to get back in the game and have a chance to be competitive while the winning team recovered from being concussed. Also, it would stimulate the economy by allowing emergency medical providers to gouge the respective school's insurance policy.
  6. I'd have to go with Dayton's Stewart. If you look at where the program was before he came in and compare it to what it is now, it's really something. He was able to completely change the culture of not only the athletic program, but of the community. He's also been able to make much needed improvements to the facilities (new bleachers, new lights, new field, weight room, etc). However, if I had a brand new school and I was looking long term, I might go with Jerry Stewart II because the apple doesn't fall far from the tree and he's not close to retirement.
  7. I'm putting the over/under on kickoff and punt returns for a touchdown at 3 for this season. It will be kind of nice to see teams that don't kick away from him.
  8. Holy crap, I haven't heard that name in soooo long. Smitty was the best. Is he still alive?
  9. There was a guy who kept cramping up during the morning practice and one of the coaches told him that the potassium in bananas might help. Well, he came back that afternoon and started cramping up again and the coach asked him if he had tried the bananas. He said yes sir, I rubbed them all over my legs but they arent working. Good thing we didn't have a very complicated playbook that year!
  10. What about dugat? Any word on what the coogs depth chart looks like, i would think he could make an impact in C-USA.
  11. Bear crawls in wet stinging grass and rolling through ant beds. Eating a big bowl of tuna salad for lunch and puking during the afternoon practice. Hearing the coaches yell and scream at the second and third string guys until someone would quit. Having water withheld as punishment...those were the days. And not to be forgotten, watching the coach lock one side of the blocking sled so the fat kid would have to push it around in circles.
  12. Are there any other players from last years team who will be playing college ball. I'd heard the same thing about Lacour (that he would be a walk on) and from what I've read Cody could be the #2 at Nebraska. If i was in his position, which I'm obviously not, I would want to redshirt to learn the system before I started leading husker nation. Also, what are the rules on redshirting? How does it work?
  13. Thanks for the info. I hope dugat is getting some significant minutes by the time the cougars play tech at robertson. It would be pretty sweet to watch him take one to the house. Is that game going to be broadcast nationally?
  14. I hope the kids win some games as well, but you can't fault a school for putting more resources towards academics than athletics. Were the coaches that left varsity coaches or could there duties be filled by those already on the staff? It sucks that they didn't get replaced and I wish that you guys could pay Bill Parcels to come coach your kids, but it's tough all over. On the bright side, maybe you guys could qualify for some obama-bucks and revitalize the prairie, then you could have all the coaches you want. Best of luck.
  15. Are these guys going to get any playing time this year? Will Green redshirt or be the #2? Will AJ be playing this year for the coogs? I heard Lacour would be running track at U of H, any chance he will walk on? Just curious and my mind is wandering because I'm football starved.
  16. Maybe PLAYA can come up with some cash and pay the salaries for two extra staff members....seems like the school board would have a little something to do with the finances involved in replacing staff members.
  17. Word? Pink end zones? I guess we will just have to build a stadium with a retractable roof to limit the amount of sun that gets on our turf. Just Kidding, I think the current plan is to construct statues of Cody and AJ on the east and west ends of the field that are large enough to obscure the sun, thus alleviating any concerns of our end zones fading to pink.
  18. Any ideas on what the offense is going to look like this year? I've heard we might get a look at some old school football with double tight ends and jumbo sets with more emphasis on ball control. This seems like a good move with our defense being stellar this year. Do we have the lineman to play a little smashmouth football this year? I know that we tend to be undersized up front but it seems like we have one helluva weight program. SEASON TIX on sale soon!
  19. Did'nt a few of the teams from the 70's have a few all state selections?
  20. Okay guys, it's my first post, so how about helping me out and making it a good one.... The quarterbacks and wide outs get all the love, but games are won and lost in the trenches. Who was the biggest, baddest, and best lineman to come through your school? I used to hate going to Jasper in the late 90's to deal with Victor Payne (TCU?) because I knew it would be a long night. He was by far the toughest competitor I lined up against. In Dayton, under Stewart ( ;D or football jesus as we call him from my section of the bleachers ;D), i would think it would have to be Gene Tennison or Mike Mabry. What do you say, who was the best big guy to come through your program?
