  1. In all honesty, I think that they will be down a little next season.  Even in a down season, they should put up a good fight in what ever district they end up in.  I really think that the talent level should be pretty high over the next few years.  There are some really big kids coming up and a lot of really good athletes in the lower grades.  Hopefully, they respond well to the program as they mature.
  2. NEWSFLASH.  After this Friday, the ricebirds will be renaming their formation the Broken-T.
  3. BOHUNKS? You are picking the game because the ricebirds are stocked with bohunks? Well, Dayton has an amalgamation of races that combine to create a spectrum of ricebird kicking awesomeness.  El Campo loses.  BOHUNKS?
  4. Speaking of fridays game, how about Carranco coming through with a couple of field goals.  A couple more years and that kids going to be drilling 50 yarders.
  5. El Campo primarily runs the wing T offense (similar to vidor and waller).  Typically when they go to the spread, they will pass.  Also, they fake the onside on almost every kickoff.  I'm not sure how good they are defensively.  But honestly, from what I've seen the past few weeks from the broncos, I don't care how good El Campo might be. I like Dayton's chances in any game from here on out.
  6. That's great for the appling family.  Now let's go out there and give El Campo the type of loss that their family can really be ashamed of.
  7. Let's go PNG. I need a 19-4a vs 20-4a showdown in the regional final. Settle down and win this football game.
  8. Don't know if anyone is interested but the el campo v yates game is on 1430.
  9. This isn't related to football at all, but I have an issue with the word daytonites.  Grammatically, it should be daytonian.  You never hear the news people say houstonites or galvestonites, its always houstonian or galvestonian.  However, I'll let it pass this year as long as all of our daytonite football players stomp a freaking mud hole into waller and keep advancing.  How is the health status of the team looking...are all of our players ready to go?
  10. I'll be at this one.  I've got a sick day pigeoned away for regionals or state semifinals...hard to choose.  I am on long change for the state game so I expect them to keep it rolling.
  11. It hurt my heart to see this thread slipping so far down the board.  Is kick off at 7? Anybody going to watch the cougars...I know I'm not.
  12. I feel confident that the Broncos can stop a running team.  But I am curious about the waller defense, their stats showed that they had a lot of interceptions.  I dont know if that means good DB's or playing against poor QB's.
  13. I don't feel like this team has peaked yet.  This is kind of reassurring in one sense because they still have a lot of areas in which they have yet to meet their full potential.  On the other hand, the competition will get tougher each week, so it really is go time.  What areas would you guys like to see improvement in?  I would have said turnovers before the vidor game, but it looks like we are back on track in that department.
  14. What type of hands does the outside linebacker (ballpoint) have?  It would be hard to defend a fade to the corner of the endzone to a receiver his size.  Also, I've said it before, but I would really like to see the team field more punts.  It's tough when you have to go 90+ yards for a score.  I don't know if the punt return is waved off for fear of a turnover, but I wonder if getting better field position is worth the risk?
  15. Has anyone seen waller play?  Seen an internet scouting report somewhere?  Have a copy of their playbook?  I needs my info.
  16. I think baldwin definitely adds some swag to the team.  Franks is speedy and I'm hoping that the time he got at running back add a new dimension of physicality. I know he can out run just about anybody he lines up against, but I would love to see him blow up a DB every now and then.  I also think an interesting wrinkle that could be added would be handing off to Ploch for a run to the wide side of the field only to have him stop and toss the ball to what will most likely be a wide open receiver.  If the DB's don't bite on the run, then your looking at first down yardage or a td.  If they do...wide open receiver.
  17. How about the two districts go out there, kick the piss out of their opponents and settle this in the quarterfinals?  Sound like a plan?
  18. If our defensive front cant keep bring the wood, we should be playing in december. Yates and El Campo both rely on the run heavily if I'm reading the stats right.  Angleton supposedly runs an offense similar to Vidor, only with more quickness. The bottom half of the bracket is looking pretty tough.  Glad we are on the top end.
  19. I just didn't hear his name called and he is normally all over the field.  I read on another post that a couple of the players were injured (N.L Hines and one other).  I don't want this to turn into gossip, but I was wondering how they are recovering and what the extent of their injuries were.
  20. Waller's offensive stats for season per the chronicle: Total yards 2473 with their QB (miller pierce) accounting for 1614 (7 and a half yards per carry) of those. Rushing yards 1999 averaging 5.34 per attempt. Passing yards 474 averaging 12.15 yards per catch. Unsure about their defense or what type of offense they run.  By the stats they favor the run.  I like our chances.
