Some love needs to go to the offensive side of the discussion. I can name name 4 kids that could take home the hardware: Richards - North Forest     (0-4 last night) Jacobs - GCM                 (2-4, 3b & 2b last night) Larkin  - CROSBY             (3-5, 2 HR's last night) Hernandez - GP               (0-3, HBP last night)
Larkin, is a good ball player with lots of heart.  But lets be real, first 2 homeruns of his HS career.  Has never been the hitter against the best teams in the district, and is the 2nd best hitter in the outfield on his own team.  There are still some games left too play, it will all play out soon.  Surprised not to see Hebert on your list since he has a higher avg and fielding percentage.  and if you are looking at hitting watch out for your own SS, seems to be coming around with the bat.
 2.
Name one that does not belong according to maxpreps and their stats????
Just remember BOHICA, your looking at district numbers not all the numbers.  There is one on the list batting .173 in district, and another with only 7 hits in district and most of them against week teams. Would be nice if the other teams in district posted all of their stats to compare. Jeremy G. - Crosby Seeley - Lee Jacobs - GCM Hebert - Crosby Czerwonka- GCM Galvan - GCM Going - GCM Harber - Crosby Don't forget Beasley - BH Legget - BH Thompson - BH Efren Garcia - GP
 3. Livingston by 2, I think they will rebound tonite.
 4.
Cannot wait to see the top two pitchers in 19-4A go at it tonight in Crosby. It sounds like Long is the real deal and everyone knows Gabby can bring it. If it weren't for a few bad calls and a crybaby coach (see GCM), Gabby would be undefeated in District. Oh well, Good luck boys....
Shoulda, Coulda, Woulda!!!! If Jeremy would have kept the ball down it wouldnt have gone so far.  But, he didn't!  If Crosby would have hit better they would have scored more runs.  Fact is that didn;t happen.  Crosby lost, GCM won it is over and the only thing they can do is play better tonite if they want a chance at the playoffs. I am sure you have seen enough bad calls that have went the way of Crosby at one time or another, it is part of the game.  You either have a short memory and adapt or you focus on it and lose. Crosby has some good kids, they just need to play better ball when they are playing the better teams in the district, if not they won's sniff the playoffs.  (Its not like 20-4A is going to rollover for anyone they face, I wold hate to be the #4 seed and play LCM right now.)
 5.
Baseball question. When a right handed hitter is up to bat, do they see the ball better against a left handed thrower or right handed thrower?
At what level are the pitchers?  I think it is all dependent upon the pitchers as well, some pitchers are much better at not showing the ball than others.  You must also take into consideration where they are coming from, over the top, 3/4, side arm or sub. If I were to put two pitchers at an even level with the same mechanics, I always saw Lefties better than righties.
 6. LCM seems to be playing very good baseball, I hope to see them play in the playoffs.
 7.
100 pitches is not a lot if the kid has proper form and is in shape.....when they get to 120 then the red light needs to come on in a coach’s mind........ THE KEY THING IS REST AFTER..... There are things a kid can do to prevent injury... ice and run.... these will get the acidity out of his muscle that causes damage... As for College, what do you think a college pitcher does.... he pitches every day... even if his arm is hurting.  30-60 pitches even after he has pitched the night before... It builds arm strengthI have heard someone mention the pros watching when pitchers reach 100.... yes they do but it has to do more with being ineffective against the best hitters more than arm worries.... Now, after everything I have read I have not seen one person bring up the REAL problem why young pitchers are getting hurt or having arm problems… It has nothing to do with the coach… Some of you may not want to hear it…… But here it is……   YEAR ROUND SELECT BASEBALL!!!  Kids pitch year round and the arm needs to rest… They are throwing breaking balls, sliders, split fingers.. etc… before their arms have developed…  I have spoken to numerous of doctors and they said they love year round baseball because their Tommy John surgery has increased by 1500% since year round select baseball was invented.  Instead of doing one a week, they are doing about 12-15..  Some doctors have given up their  practice and just started doing this surgery alone…Some kids have had 2-3 surgeries before the even reach high school… If you want to blame the coaches for your sons arm problem go right ahead…. But the real problem is the parents for enrolling their child in year round baseball…
Not sure where you pitched in college, but when I did no coach ever promoted throwing everyday, and certainly did not have us throw when our arm was hurting.  Are you sure it's 120 pitches? earlier you said it was 110 pitches?  I think it is all relative to a variety of situations and should never be taken lightly!!!! As for select, thats why you dont sign your kid up for select and allow the same thing to happen there, you evaluate the coaches and the way they handle your child in his best interest.  There is nothing wrong with playing select, tournament or off season baseball as long as you are doing what is in the best interest of your child.  Health first, I would be willing to bet that more kids are having surgeries due to bad technique and yes parents allowing their own kids to throw pitches that their bodies have not developed enough to throw yet.
 8.

100 pitches for a high school pitcher is not that many, when you get to 110+ then you worry about a kids arm.... I have seen coaches pitch a kid 170+..GCM vs Crosby last year.. that seemed crazy to me... Gabby's arm is better... he had a sore arm early in the year but is fine now... and has had low pitch counts all year... GCM just hit the ball... Good Job GCM.. As for bring in Herbert, maybe they need him for friday?? which is worse.. letting a kid pitch 110 pitches (which is not that high) or pitching a kid in back to back games???
You guys that think 100 pitches ain't that many or there is a difference between 100 and 110 should be high school coaches.  Many a high school talent has been ruined by coaches that didn't respect a good arm.  Ask a pitcher that has been overthrown after the game how his arm feels and he can clarify that for you.  The pros start to get concerned after 90 even if the pitcher is still showing control because they have so much money riding on them. They realized they were shortening the lifespan of their pitching talent years ago and started getting smarter.
Coldn't agree more, 100 pitches is certanly not to be taken lightly.  Some high school coaches don't agree as I am sure you have seen.
It was both.... You can throw Andy Dewey's name in there also.
I agree EAGLE07, I think we had this discussion before. I also agree with what someone said earlier, you have to take care of your pitchers arm, ice, stay in shape, etc.. but I will still say that High School kids shouldn't be throwing 100 + pitches no matter what. Also, I know their are alot of good coaches out there but don't leave it up to them to take care of your kid.
So parents... Go keep pitch count and take your child off the field when they get to 100 pitches
I think the point is even though you arent the coach your son should be important enough to speak with the coach when his health or risk of injury becomes more likely.  If the state of your childs health or well being becomes second to the game then that is a shame. 100 pitches can certainly be concern when you have poor mechanics, a recent tender arm, temperatures make a considerable drop or if throwing high percentage of breaking pitches.
 10.
Texas City was scheduled not a tournament and they were regional simi finalist last year... Kilgore is 8-8 this year... Vista is 12-8... 4-1 in district New Caney is 14-2... 4-0 in district Pine tree is 11-9.... 5-1 in district. Lumberton has a good squad this year... seems like they are better than you think... or you are just focusing on the negitives...
I am impressed,  I guess we will see how much playing them did to help prepare for district.  Playoffs?? Lets hope the ship gets righted this week!
Your right about that, no consistent hitting this year. Not much at all for that matter.
they have a team batting avg. of .356.  they can hit the ball... just not last night.... when they did hit the ball it was right at them...
You posted .356 avg, what is your District play avg?  I didn't see anyone say Crosby couldn't, just that they weren't hitting and if they don't with BH & GCM coming up the pitching can't be expected to be perfect.  Let's be honest NF & King make that avg in district a lot healthier.  Another note I hope in the future Crosby plays a more aggressive non district tournament schedule.  Stay away from the 3A teams and play some 5A so district and playoff pitching isnt such a higher quality level.
I hate it whe people do not do their research before posting.... they had about the same avg. before they played NF & King... Crosby vs Lee avg. 087, vs. NF .318, vs King .500 vs vs. Galena Park... ?, not yet posted on Max Preps... As for you saying you did not see anyone say crosby couldn't hit...."Your right about that, no consistent hitting this year. Not much at all for that matter" And are you telling me that they did not schedule hard non district oppenents..... lets see Sante Fe, Bridge City, Vista Ridge, LCM, Lumberton, Kilgore , Pine tree, Texas City, Kingwood Park, Caney Creek, New Caney... are they not "top quality Oppenents?" Now this is baseball.... anything can happen... "when line drives become tripple plays and blooplers become game winners, anything is possible"...  they have had a couple of bad night where the ball did not bounce their way.... they are still a tough oppenent... I have full faith that the coogs will bounce back.... staring with GCM tom..... Go Coogs!!!
Hitman, maybe I wasn't clear enought when I asked what the Batting avg is in district?  Looks like .275  21 hits  vs NF & King, 6 hits vs Lee & GP - That is what I was refering to when I made the statment of no consistent hitting. Again, maybe I wasnt clear, I said a more aggressive Tournament schedule ( did not say no quality oponents faced )  I was  refering to the possibility of seeing more quality pitching during tournaments, 5A teams typicaly have more pitching depth and therefore you see better pitching more consistently throughout the tournaments. Since you brought it up lets see: Vista Ridge - 2 - 11 in district last year, no playoffs Kilgore - Losing record in district last year, No playoffs last year New Caney - 4 - 11 last year, no playoffs Texas City - 4 -14 and 0 - 3 in district this year Lumberton - No playoffs last year Pine Tree - Losing record in district last year, No playoffs last year. Caney Creek - Losing record last year in district, No playoffs last year.  Losing record this year. As for LCM, Santa Fe, Bridge City, Kingwood Park, - Consistently good teams.
 12. Should see some great pitching, will Crosby bring their sticks?  Price could be right in this one!
 13. Should be a good game, BH sticks should give them an edge.  BH wins 4 - 2
