1. It's a shame that Friendswood ( and most other teams in 4a) will have to play Yates. Got to see some of their kids play this summer and they have a pretty good team.
 2. I think when the Nederland Freshmen get under Coach English's wing on the varsity (probably during their Junior year) Nederland will def be a team to look out for. The freshmen play well together and seem to generally get along as a team (invaluable trait)
 3. Maybe you should study for your Teks test..... The issue was Kelly basketball being on the map long before J'Covan. People who wern't waiting for their preteen years to start will tell you that Zummo, Messina, Persia, Mullenax could all play
 4. How many points did Doty have in this game? I would assume a good deal because it seems as he goes so does PNG
 5.

Coach English is a good one!
Just hope we can hold on to him.
I don't see why you wouldnt. Nederland has a good talent pool coming up, especially with Coach English's son and crew. Good facilities. Plus around this area the only move would have to be somewhere like Westbrook or Memorial right?
 6. J'Covan was never the issue Buc but since you were like 8 years old when Ed Persia played at Kelly I guess that's why you decided to focus on that.
 7. I guess you just totally passed over everything else because what you were 10 years old or younger? The teks test are you serious? Like that's just so academically challenging? Kelly has sent students to Duke, MIT, Princeton, Texas, Notre Dame and so on without this test I think were doing okay.  The kid had multiple on court tirades everywhere he played. He never got thrown off the team with Knowles, and he never behaved the way he did in summer ball with Knowles. Don't get me wrong I am not making J'covan out to be a saint or saying he was during his time at Kelly. But Coach Knowles was a friend of the Brown family and he had the most control over J'covan. J'Covan had or may still have a serious temper issue. I personally saw the kid berate his AAU coach and throw his jersey to the floor during a game, in front of Mike Brey, several Texas Scout and countless other coaches. Knowles knew this and did his best to control the kid and channel his obvious talents.
 8. Nederland and Ozens freshmen were even IMO after seeing both play and play each other.
 9. Here comes BucOf2010 butting in to things he has no idea about again.... He didn't have to act right? Hmmm what school did he get kicked of the team? He actually listened to Knowles. He didn't have to be very smart? Hmmm academics at Kelly or academics at Memorial? He was on course to graduate at Kelly...what happened at Memorial? Edward Persia....didn't he go to Princeton, wasn't he the TAPPS Male Athlete of the year, didn't he make a memorable shot at Princeton. Ryan Zummo and Jude Messina....Were they not on the team that beat a good deal of teams in this area....including Westbrook? Taylor Mullenax...Hmm I think he had a bigger hand in winning two of those state championships than the Brown brothers did...Ask Knowles about that too. So go worry about your senior year and East Chambers basketball and don't get involved in things you have no idea about
 10. Strake is a UIL school...and at Kelly you have to go through their Protecting God's Children Program, but that is fairly easy.
 11. HJ will blow out Tarkington. Bring up the JV players because you could get them all in the game.
 12.
Wasn't me talking down on hj I saw you'll play a good central team early saw you'll play the best 2a team in the state (actually I think ktz is the best and new waverly a distant second but them are other stories )...besides I think nederland is good and shouldn't have been beat by ozen
Strength of Ozen: Guard Play (Decarlos) Weakness of Nederland: Guard Play. I think that might be a reason for ozen to beat nederland
 13. The Kelly basketball program was founded by Port Arthur thanks for clearing that up.

Back on topic...Does anyone know who Yates will Play?
What does kelly know about basketball anyway? ;D
Probably the same as Memorial seeing as how Knowles is from Port Arthur
That's right PA put kelly basketball on the map, anyway no warm up game for us playoffs start tues. at lee college in baytown against Pasadena Dobie.
No I think Edward Persia, Taylor Mullenax, Ryan Zummo, And Jude Messina did that.

 18. The Yates factor? Yates might have the publicity because of the points but they have the recognition because they have beat some great teams and beat them handily.

 23. There is talent, but I think the talent doesn't stay at the school. Kelly has had several players come to Kelly rather than going to Hamshire Fannett. There is definitely a talent problem on this year's varsity squad, they just don't have the talent to compete.
