Will be some good second round matchups for HJ and Silsbee
HJ will probably play Center/Chapel Hill runner up or Palestine third in 18
Silsbee second round matchup of the runner up of Bullard/Jacksonville will be better than most realize. Jacksonville has most of there team back that lost in OT to Highland Park in the second round of the 5a playoffs last year. HP ranked #10 in the 6a poll this week. Bullard will have a 6'5 guard who is the real deal. Won the state in the 4a high jump last year. Bullard has some kids that can stroke it.
Not saying they will lose to any of these teams but if you are looking to far ahead and dont play a good game in the second round these guys are good enough to upset some plans down the road.

Hardin Jefferson, I know they are looking for a team. Central Heights also hosts one that weekend.

Lufkin is hosting 6a Region II tournament. UIL needed a more central location for 6a region. Lufkin loved hosting the 4A region and would have been happy to continue, but UIL asked them to do this and they did.

A couple of facts since everybody seems to be an expert on Lufkin now.
1. Lufkin is 15-2 now
2. Lufkin's best post player did not suit up. He is their 1st or second best player depending on the night.
3. I am not sure I would call Lufkin's schedule extremely weak. Not as good as Crosby's, I would agree. Played @ College Park who was a preseason top 5 team in Houston in some polls, went to Dallas to play SOC, West Brook, HJ, Center and went to Silsbee. You are right some are smaller teams but all those are ranked smaller teams. I am not saying that Lufkin deserves to be ranked, just disagreeing with the extremely weak schedule part.
Just trying to clear up some of the misinformation on this thread.

Lufkin is 15-1. Lost to SOC 63-47 in the thanksgiving Hoopfest in Duncanville. Have played last 10 or so games without big man. He is a difference maker if he plays.

Any reports from scrimmages in the area? Not much talk. Was wondering how some teams in the area looked?
-
So who are the two starters H-J was missing? And which two will sit when they come back?
-
How did Nederland and Vidor look?
-

Let me get all this straight!
1. Yates are cheaters and recruit players but somehow do it legally by UIL rules? Yates also had a player ruled ineligible by the UIL but the other senior transfers were apparently given the green light by the UIL? So don’t this make them legit?
2. Clay Davis is a sore loser and cry baby and he had to come up with a reason why him and he’s team got embarrassed. I don’t agree with his statement he made in the BMT enterprise although it doesn’t surprise me. He knew a beat down was coming. In my eyes that makes him a cry baby and sore loser.
Time to move on and good luck to all the other area teams still alive.
So what did Coach Davis say that was false in the article? You are claiming that Yates is OK for following the rules and getting transfers(recruits) legally. That part is ok to you? But then you call Coach Davis a sore loser and a cry baby for making a statement that is TRUE.
If his statement isn't true then I would say that makes him a crybaby and sore loser, but for the most part he is calling out a loophole(yes legal) that puts him at a competitive disadvantage.
Would be interesting to list all the H-J players and where they went to middle school and all the Yates players and see where they went to middle school. See how many H-J players were zoned H-J in middle school and compare how many Yates players went to Yates feeders(the ones that are suppossed to feed Yates) not all of the enitre HISD like it seems to feed Yates

When was the last time Carthage had a pretty good team? I always think of them as a football first, baseball second, track third, and then basketball as a very distant fourth kind of school. Maybe I'm wrong though
Not long ago. Two years ago they lost to Dallas Lincoln I believe in the regional tourney by about 10 points or so

Any Silsbee reports from the C E King scrimmage
-
So how does Beaumont ISD lose around 600 kids?
United lost 429.5 students and West Brook lost 144. Did a new school like an Early College HS open up or where are all the kids going? Just hard to figure these numbers out.

Lufkin vs Nacogdoches at Nacogdoches
6:00 Friday. Seeding game for first and second.
Both teams finished 13-1 in District
-
Not sure how much more official you need. The job is listed on the TABC website.
-
I also believe that West brook is appealing to UIL and trying to get put in the Pasadena district.

Any updates on early action?
