There was no reason to turn that into an ejection fest.  No one touched an opponent and all the players were out of the dugout.  To eject both teams (which is all you could do) would have been a cluster>|%~.  Umpires and coaches did a great job getting the situation under control quickly IMO.

Any players who left the dugout or bench area should all be ejected except for those playing in the field at the time.  Umpire's job is to uphold the rules and they didn't do it.  Would you be okay with a judge doing the same?

  2. This is a culture issue.  The culture in our society and the culture within these programs are major problems.  It is not okay for Silsbee and LCM players to engage in a brawl at a high school basketball game.  That was a common scuffle between two athletes that spiraled into much, much more.  The kids should know better, but the coaches of both those teams are responsible for their players' actions.  How do coaches respond when a player gets in a scuffle, curses, receives a tech?  If these actions that are unacceptable continue, then the answer is that the coach's response is not harsh enough.  Lessons need to be learned, but first they have to be taught in some cases.

I am not calling out Coach Sigler or the LCM coach...or maybe I'm calling out everyone.  This stuff has no place in sports, similar to the event at Crystal Beach having no place in our society.  People need to do what is right and need to be held accountable when they don't.  With all that being said, I would expect that the UIL hearing probably sent the correct message to at least these two programs.

I'm gonna give that a big LOL. Bet HJ still wins those games by 10+

Not to gloat, but I am anyway!  I called that HJ-Huffman district!  But since this board is dead, can we maybe get some predictions on district finishes next year?

I've got Cleveland, HJ, and then Huffman.  I've got PA, Central, Nederland, Ozen.  And I'll go way out on a limb and take Silsbee.  3A I'll go Buna, EC, Kountze.  Anybody else?

I'm not shifting blame.  And no one has posted the video of the LCM kid sucker punching the Silsbee kid.  In fact, that kid's dad has stated he doesn't want it posted.  Some people have class, some don't.  If you don't believe me, go read the thread of the clown who posted it on Facebook and the comments he's made there.

For a guy who is as learned as you are and was also not at or involved in this incident, you have a LOT to say.  Have you seen the full video of the altercation?

I'm not just going off the video. I know LCM started it. I'm going off eye witness accounts that include people from Silsbee and LCM. Also I know he is a great kid. But kids make mistakes and have to be held accountable or they won't learn anything and think they can get away with anything.

I've seen the video.  The first blow in this entire ordeal was Jordyn Adams' open hand to the LCM kids face.  It's clear to see in the entire video that the Silsbee people want so badly to be shown.  Crystal clear.  I hope it's posted to so people will be honest about what happened.  With that said, THEY ARE ALL IN THE WRONG!  Nobody had to throw a punch and they all chose to do so.

Silsbee is not an entire town of horrible people and neither is Little Cypress.  Both are far from it.  Several children, one in particular, made bad decisions.  Now they themselves, their teams, and their fans will suffer the consequences of those poor choices.  That is the real world and it's time for all involved to accept it and move on.

  6. I like the lineup Joe started and I liked that he played them most of the time.  He still subbed five at time, but the ones had two runs in each quarter.  That lineup with three shooters out there is hard to handle.  I went to this one because usually LCM handles pressure well, but they couldn't handle this machine.  What makes it more impressive is that I don't think LCM really even quit.  Silsbee really is that good.  I'm a believer!

  7. My opinion has clearly upset you.  I thought that was what a message board was for.  I didn't attack any particular individual.  I have opinions, I shared them, and then I gave you the context for my opinion.  You don't like it and it prompted you to read every post I've ever made.  You found more you didn't like.  And that's okay.  I would do the same, but I don't have time to wade through 17,000 posts.

I guess I am a hypocrite.  My user name here is not my real name.  I can't imagine the digging you'd do if you had that, though.  You could be like Hillary after Trump's tax returns!  But by the way, you were unbelievable when you played for D'Antoni and the Suns!  Much more fun than your latest career as message board guru.

  8. I don't officiate anymore.  I have never, ever officiated a game that featured any team that I have any affiliation with.  My opinions, that you so graciously allowed me, have been formed over a long time of working basketball games.  Nobody gets into officiating to help a team out or hurt a team.  No referees are trying to cheat teams or harm their chances of success.  Despite inappropriate behavior and comments from some fans, I have NEVER lost the ability to be a neutral official and I resent that insinuation.  As to being called a bad official, both chapters always need more guys.  Step away from the computer and step up.

I don't believe that Hardin Jefferson will win district.  I would much rather hear why you think they will win district rather than have my character attacked.

  9. I think Vidor is flat out better than Nederland this year.  They have the athletes and ability to move the ball pretty much against anyone and, sorry Mom and Dad, this might be the worst defense Nederland has had in a very long time.  Small up front, young in the back, and just not very athletic.  Vidor will control the clock and make every Nederland possession extra important.  That's a tough thing for a team with quarterback questions/issues to manage.

Nederland's big advantage is mental.  Do the Vidor coaches and players actually believe they can beat Nederland?  That's to be seen.

  10. What was the score last year?  LCM will hold onto the ball long enough to slow the game down I would imagine and we all know they aren't even going to try to throw it so the clock will stay moving.  Closer than the experts believe...
