  1. Past hour
  2. Could be. I know last year they hosted a first round game. I think it was Silsbee and Hitchcock? I don't see them hosting a local coverage area team this year. I don't know if anyone out of area is playing there. I kind of doubt it.
  3. Yes. It is completely school run and funded and can do playoff games as long as they do not run ads during playoff games.
  4. Nevermind Stepp posted the answer same time I asked
  5. This is correct.
  6. Breaking down my soap box now. One last ? Is PNG ndn media Academic and allowed to continue?
  7. I know PNG has an amazing student led broadcast...they are able to still stream most rounds unless its one of the 4 exclusive games....I think they do have some ads in the regular season but they just don't run them in the playoffs
  8. I believe you're correct. LPsportsNET is recognized as the 'official broadcast' for LP sports as a partnership, and the students work the cameras, etc. as part of a class curriculum. But, it's funded by advertisers and community support. It doesn't receive school funding. The students get course credit if enrolled in the multimedia class. Some students just help out & I think the two brothers pay them a little for the help. But, don't quote me on it.
  9. I get it. Reminds me of Coach "Sonny" in the Program asking... When was the last time 80k people showed up to watch a kid do a chemistry experiment?
  10. My guess is LaPorte wanted Thur...being a heavy favorite they are likely wanting an extra day to prepare for the second round
  11. The vast majority of activities the UIL provides loses money...band is one of them...doesn't make them less important but they lose money they don't make money. Revenue from football a lot of times supports all the other great things the UIL provides for all students from sports, to fine arts, to academics etc
  12. Thanks for clarification about the UIL. I was unaware. I was referring to the schools themselves. See the recent comment about LaPorte being forced by UIL to take the contract. Side thought... Regional band contests are basically playoffs for them. And free streams were allowed there. But I guess they see where the majority of money is made in the greatest state for HS football period. Soap box is still there if anyone else wants to step up. No pun intended lol
  13. Pretty sure the La Porte broadcast is not a school funded and led broadcast. It's a privately owned broadcast much like what we do here except it's video. Taxpayers have nothing to do with those broadcasts. It's my understanding that all school funded and led broadcast entities can do their school playoff games. Just have to coordinate with UIL.
  14. The school can broadcast the game...unless its changed if its a true academic broadcast that's ad free they have the ability to do so... If they sell ads then its not an academic broadcast and would have to broadcast on NFHS where they'd be compensated
  15. Horrible. After the taxpayers spent all that money on broadcast capabilities. The governing arm turns the playoffs into a money grab. They could at least allow the school to broadcast and let the other services pick it up too
  16. Thanks for watching A point of clarity the UIL doesn't receive taxpayer dollars...their financial reports are public record The League's sources of income are: membership dues; participation fees; contest fees; open records productions; publication sales; the admission price for state level cross-country, swimming and diving, tennis, wrestling and one-act play contests; an annually determined percentage of admission prices for state level baseball, basketball, soccer, volleyball, and marching band contests; an annually determined percentage of football and basketball post district gate receipts; proceeds from radio and television broadcasting and telecasting contracts; as well as proceeds from sponsorships and advertising.
  17. EXCELLENT POST!
  18. Any scrimmages been played? I think i seen maybe BC and OF playing the other day?
  19. Today
  20. I'm wondering if fans should consider monthly subs with the other service. Honestly we would love for UIL to fall in line with TL. Just like they need the universal tiebreaker. Make it easy for fans without having to pay for multiple streams each week. Although I still feel since taxpayers fund everything already... it should be free on YouTube. Thanks for all the work you and the rest of DC put into this. Great show last night. I like the new interactive brackets on the app too
  21. True, and I do understand what you’re saying, but I was thinking more about the Butch Johnson TD. Anybody, besides me, old enough to remember that one? Also, I did say….to me. Great weekend so far. Bulldogs won, Longhorns won, Miami, OSU, and Kentucky lost (helps my Longhorns). Don’t want to hear about how OSU could have won had their starting QB been healthy. Their defense allowed 71 points total in their back-to-back losses, and no one ever excuses my team’s losses because my QB got hurt. I’m sure my Cowboys will find some way to wreck the weekend. lol
  22. Playoff streaming rights are complicated lol We will have 4 exclusive games a week on DCTX and a bunch of other games that will also be streamed to NFHS....NFHS will also have a lot of games we won't have
  23. Does DC TL have contract for streaming playoff games? I think is was NFHS last season @Matthew328
  24. @Matthew328 actually the time has not been confirmed by athletic secretary via their Facebook page
  25. Vidor (7-3, 5-1) vs. Houston Sterling (5-5, 3-2) on Friday at Baytown’s Stallworth Stadium at 7:30 p.m.
