I inquired about the progress of the hiring.
And was told  " The committee spend all day Saturday interviewing prospects" "Fifteen planned interviews, and I suspect they have talked to most of them"  " I am pretty sure they are only interviewing on Saturdays, since the committee is made up of all working folks, plus administrators."  " Those being interviewed are mostly working coaches, who would not want to be known they are applying unless they are close to getting the job, so as to not jeopardize their present position."  " They do want to make a hire by the end of Feb."

And MY response to him was... "Ok thank you. The only thing I don't really understand is the secrecy of who they are. I wouldn't want to be in a current job where it becomes in jeopardy for wanting to better my career. Doesn't say much for their current employers. Hopefully the names will be released soon."

Here is some of the list I have heard:

Craus Dayton OC
Chad Taylor LaPorte OC
Plano East DC
Sealy OC
Tobey Foreman
Jason Speights

I think 6 more could be added to the list but they have not been talked about as much.

The Plano East DC interviewed the best from my what I hear
what kind of records do these you mentioned have? Other than Dayton's of course... mainly the Plano East DC. V Dayton's OC. considering Daytons record,  I would think Craus ( though I do not know how long he has been at Dayton) would be at the top.

If this is the list, there is no doubt, that Chad Taylor is at the top of the list.  He is from there, he is a great coach, and he is looking to put down roots.  Liberty already made the mistake of passing him up once, they shouldn't make it again.

I am intrigued by the DC from a place like Plano East wanting to come to Liberty.  Toby keeps getting the short end of the stick in these things.  He will get a job one day and will do a great job.  You just have to wonder, how many times we will see his name on a finalist list before he gets a chance.

Taylor is the guy. He will be offered, and he will accept.  He turned down the Hardin job last year due to money, he will not turn this one down.  If he had taken the Hardin job last year, he would be leaving this year to coach Liberty.  Great get for Liberty.  Hope Taylor can begin rebuilding a once proud program.

Just to clarify, my comment is not based on any type of inside information. Just simply my opinion based on things I have seen and heard over the past couple of years.

Well, its hard for me to see the DC from Plano East coming.  He will be leaving awesome facilities - indoor practice fields, large weight room etc.  Its a little different down in East Texas, community is not so eager to dish out money.
As for Taylor, its a maybe, just be careful when coming back to your home town.
I always hear Foreman's name, he moves around a lot in my opinion every year he applies for these jobs.  How many years of coordinator experience does he have ???
Dayton OC, I would not count him out just yet?
Speights, well its interesting, he is the most consistent.  He has been in several places for years as a coordinator and has had some success with helping kids.  He hasn't always coached the best team's record but he's under the radar in my opinion.  So when is the next board meeting?
I don't know a lot about the plano east dc or Speights but I know Taylor and Foremen have done quality jobs as coordinaters at WOS and LaPorte. I have seen there teams in person and they are great quality coaches. I don't think it is always a bad thing to go back home and coach. As far as Foreman moving around, he was at WOS for I think 9 years and was a finalist for the WOS, West Brook, and Giddings jobs. I have also heard that liberty has been narrowed to three candidates, but I can't confirm that.

Who got the AD/HC job at Anahuac last year? Came across this article... Brandon Craus from Dayton and a couple coaches from Liberty had applied for this job... Was just curious who got the job

    • We'll see. I don't trust us.
    • Starting pitching has been shaky the last few weeks due to some injuries outside of Hagen Smith.  He goes tomorrow, so y’all should be fine
    • Manchin may get it but any mention of the radical left that wanted to get rid of the filibuster and end almost 220 years of history because the Democrats are mad?  The House and Senate are obviously different legislative bodies with entirely different election processes and rules for a reason. The House can vote on laws with a simple majority vote. The Senate put rules in place that it would make it much tougher to pass laws. Laws should be difficult to pass. The Senate is often the holdup of the right and left. It takes 60 votes to break the filibuster so any law will almost certainly require agreement at least in part, from opposing sides of an issue. Because they can’t get laws passed, the radical left is like a baby having a tantrum and wants to change over 200 years of history and make it potentially ridiculously easy to pass laws. I have seen current poll maps and it is possible for the Republicans to sweep into complete power in November but by the tiniest margin. That would possibly mean that a single vote margin in both houses could enact what you might call the radical right laws. There would be nothing that the Democrats could do to stop any legislation whatsoever if the left (they are all radical, minus Manchin) got their filibuster rule changed.  That is where the current filibuster comes into play as any new law would require several Democrats to agree with the majority Republicans and vice versa.  Do you want the potential for your radical right to have free rein as the radical left wants by killing the filibuster or is the radical left just as (if not more) dangerous? Let’s see if we have a history in this area? Oh yeah, the Democrats changed the rules in the Senate to allow federal judges to not have to overcome the filibuster. Obama was not getting his federal judge nominations passed and being angry, they changed the rules instead of nominating more moderate justices. They were warned that it would come back to bite them. They didn’t care and chose the nuclear option to change the rules. Oops! Any guess how Trump got all of his Supreme Court nominees passed against strong Democrat opposition? The Democrats got rid of the filibuster for federal judges after another tantrum   So when you are so worried about the radical right, are you equally concerned in what the radical left is always doing by changing rules and history which were put into place just for situations like we are in? So while Manchin gets it, what about his other 50 colleagues (49 + Harris)?  What concerns you more, Abbott and Paxton or the Democrats who want to make it to where if the Republicans do take over, they can go wild… at least in your mind?
    • MODS please remove that ISD twitter link! I had no idea it would copy the whole posting. I only highlighted the portion about the venue change. Sorry about that!
