#3 in the state!  #19 in the nation!

I know none of this matters, cuz it's win or go home!

Go Cubs!

Ozen coaches will have to do their best coaching in this game for them to have a chance. Hope they don't let the kids down, because Brenham is the real deal, but they don't have depth, that's the only weakness I saw. They can't afford to lose any of their players any time of the game. One thing I do know, OZEN will not be no Kingwood Park.

Ozen, if you are going to win state, which is the dream of all teams, sooner or later you are going to have to play a team like Brenham. You have to make your stand and take it up a notch. Play mistake free ball. Brenham is very tough. This is the game you played all year to be in. Good luck.

Brenham wins going away, Ozen has not faced a defense anywhere close to what Brenham has.

Brenham's a 4A school with 5A talent.  Comperable to PAM.  I worry more about Ozen's coaches than I do the kids possibly calling a bad game.....

Yep, and that is my issue with Ozen.  The coach.

These posts sound real familiar, last night the corp of linebackers (who were as good as promised) were supposed shut Ozen down.  Now is the the Brenham D-line.  Green is an outstanding QB but Ozen has many weapons and will take what the defense leaves open.  Brenham's DL might be special but it won't matter. If you score 40, Ozen scores at least 41.  Another upset, which is good medicine for arrogance,  (JMO)

Like I've said in another post in reference to certain teams, each year you plan to win the State Championship and nothing else.  Brenham is on a totally different level than any other team in this area, including Dayton, Nederland, PNG, Vidor etc etc etc...This game won't even be close.  If you've seen a team that makes it to the state finals then you know what I'm talking about, talent wise.  Brenham has that team AGAIN.  Ozen beat an overrated BH team IMO and is just a bump in the road for Brenham's run.  Don't get me wrong Ozen may have some studs but Brenham's whole team is full of Div I talent.  If Brenham does lose it won't be by a 20-4A team.

One of the better defenses you'll ever see in HS.  Talent is there, coach is there, just don't see anyone in the region beating them but that's why they play the games.

Hit the nail on the head...if Ozen wants to know what a State Championship caliber team is they're fixing to get their shot.  Ozens got their work cut out....ive seen stranger things happen.

This remeinds me alot of the year central beat BH and met Brenham in the 2nd round, but Brenham is not as good as that team was, I think Ozen turns alot of heads with this game, they have to good athletes but its going to take more then that to beat brenham, hopefully Nelsons gets his panthers heads right, seems like their peaking at the right time

I would have to disagree with you on that point.  The Cubs had a good team in 2005, that was just loaded with D1 talent just like this team is.  Actually, I think that the 2005-2006 era had more D1 talent.  The difference now is we have an overall better level of talent.  Along with Malcom Brown, Tim Cole, and Troy Green you have to deal with Shea Nutt, Jesse Baker, Klartel Claridy, AND Dean Havemen at QB.  Do not get me wrong, Jarrett Lee was a good QB, but after watching Haveman in every game this year, all I can say is ,"Why the hell was this guy not starting last year?  He is an amazing high school QB, who is every bit as accurate as Jarrett Lee was, and I loved Ty Schlottmann, but this guy is good, really good.

Jumping on the board for the first time. Another fan from ice cream land joining in on all of this fun!!

Welcome aboard, 87Cub.  I was born in Hempstead (many years ago) and I know that there are more GOOD things in
Brenham than just the ice cream (meaning the PEOPLE if anyone needs it explained).

Thank you all very much for the hospitality, everyone!  I try to be very objective, EVEN THOUGH I am probably one of the biggest Brenham homers that you will ever see.  I believe that if you are going to crack on anyone, you MUST crack on your own first.  I used to be a regular on a certain board that has pretty much dried up.  Look forward to sharing my thoughts on pretty much anything.

    • Manchin may get it but any mention of the radical left that wanted to get rid of the filibuster and end almost 220 years of history because the Democrats are mad?  The House and Senate are obviously different legislative bodies with entirely different election processes and rules for a reason. The House can vote on laws with a simple majority vote. The Senate put rules in place that it would make it much tougher to pass laws. Laws should be difficult to pass. The Senate is often the holdup of the right and left. It takes 60 votes to break the filibuster so any law will almost certainly require agreement at least in part, from opposing sides of an issue. Because they can’t get laws passed, the radical left is like a baby having a tantrum and wants to change over 200 years of history and make it potentially ridiculously easy to pass laws. I have seen current poll maps and it is possible for the Republicans to sweep into complete power in November but by the tiniest margin. That would possibly mean that a single vote margin in both houses could enact what you might call the radical right laws. There would be nothing that the Democrats could do to stop any legislation whatsoever if the left (they are all radical, minus Manchin) got their filibuster rule changed.  That is where the current filibuster comes into play as any new law would require several Democrats to agree with the majority Republicans and vice versa.  Do you want the potential for your radical right to have free rein as the radical left wants by killing the filibuster or is the radical left just as (if not more) dangerous? Let’s see if we have a history in this area? Oh yeah, the Democrats changed the rules in the Senate to allow federal judges to not have to overcome the filibuster. Obama was not getting his federal judge nominations passed and being angry, they changed the rules instead of nominating more moderate justices. They were warned that it would come back to bite them. They didn’t care and chose the nuclear option to change the rules. Oops! Any guess how Trump got all of his Supreme Court nominees passed against strong Democrat opposition? The Democrats got rid of the filibuster for federal judges after another tantrum   So when you are so worried about the radical right, are you equally concerned in what the radical left is always doing by changing rules and history which were put into place just for situations like we are in? So while Manchin gets it, what about his other 50 colleagues (49 + Harris)?  What concerns you more, Abbott and Paxton or the Democrats who want to make it to where if the Republicans do take over, they can go wild… at least in your mind?
    • MODS please remove that ISD twitter link! I had no idea it would copy the whole posting. I only highlighted the portion about the venue change. Sorry about that!
    • See why I don't trust my Hogs?
    • Come on dude, don’t take anything away from the kids on the field. If you want to talk uncharacteristic, we made what 3 or 4 errors in game one. Y’all had 2 EARNED runs.  Defense is normally our strong suit. Your ace didn’t strike out a single one of our kids. Like I said also, you did not out hit us in game 1. Hell you barley out hit us in game 2. We had all the uncharacteristic walks. Josh pitched a hell of a game is what made that game what it was.
