Green is going to create problems for Brenham.  Is he going to beat them by himself?  Absolutely not.  He is an outstanding athlete with one of the best arms I've seen on a HS QB.

The quandry is....even if you play sound fundamental football, keep your gap assignments, no blown coverages, etc. he makes a "backyard" play that you just can't plan for.  Our LBs had him dead to rights in the backfield a couple times and he was able to escape and put it on a rope 50 yards downfield (not an exaggeration).

I guess the point of this post is....no I don't think Ozen will beat Brenham but Mr. Green will make about 4 or 5 "how in the he11 did he get out of that?" plays in this game.  Good luck to both teams, hope everyone stays healthy.

Brenham 35
Ozen      20

It will take a perfect game to hang w/Brenham def.line.Ozen w/size & speed gonna need to dbl up Malc.Brown/Tim Cole and J.Jones(a great small speedy back) will not slow down the green swarm.Ozen w/atheletes has a shot to pull it off but Trey won't get the protection to throw the long ball like he did vs BH.The short underneath stuff will work w/ good success but Ozen cannot give Brenham a short field by mistakes.Note:Keep em off balance w/counters & qb draws but the big yds will come off the edges ;)

Does anybody know where the this game is going to be played? I was thinking Woodforest stadium.
Last night coach West said it will likely be @ Thorne Stadium in Aldine (where Brenham played PNG in 09'), but wasn't sure about the time & day yet.
THANKS. I hope its Saturday
It looks like Vidor/Montgomery are playing at Thorne Friday, so this game will have to be Saturday if they want that stadium.
He did say "likely" so it's not in stone, but it will probably be there, on Saturday.
Its stone... just got text from Coach Mathews and he confirmed this to be true.... Game time is 7:30pm and Montgomery will be home team...

Ozen has yet to face a six in the box threat that lurks in the land of cookies and cream. I'm being very serious in saying, the offensive line for Ozen will be overwhelmed, and Mr. Green may have escaped the rushes of Lumberton, Livingston, etc. etc. NONE of the teams on their schedule have the defensive firepower of the Ice Cream Boys.

Sorry to break it to ya...but it's going to be ugly........ Cubbies by 5 TD's
We completely shut him down by not letting him scramble, keep him in the box and make sure you have good coverage.....pressure is key....with that said I have to go with the Panthers in an upset, sorry Brenham fan, just because I'd like to see them keep going. Odds aren't good with Brenham playing you though....

Thorne is a thorn in the arse to get inside the stadium. You gotta empty your pockets on a table and get scanned thru a walk-thru metal detector. At the Ike game had to go back to da car because I had a set of nailclippers w/a tiny dull blade underneath.Get in line early ;)

These posts sound real familiar, last night the corp of linebackers (who were as good as promised) were supposed shut Ozen down.  Now is the the Brenham D-line.  Green is an outstanding QB but Ozen has many weapons and will take what the defense leaves open.  Brenham's DL might be special but it won't matter. If you score 40, Ozen scores at least 41.  Another upset, which is good medicine for arrogance,  (JMO)

The Pressure is on Brenham. Ozen, just needs to limit their mistakes and this one could be interesting.

Remember, any team that doesn't come to play on a given night. CAN BE BEAT !

Ozen - 35

Brenham - 28

Like I've said in another post in reference to certain teams, each year you plan to win the State Championship and nothing else.  Brenham is on a totally different level than any other team in this area, including Dayton, Nederland, PNG, Vidor etc etc etc...This game won't even be close.  If you've seen a team that makes it to the state finals then you know what I'm talking about, talent wise.  Brenham has that team AGAIN.  Ozen beat an overrated BH team IMO and is just a bump in the road for Brenham's run.  Don't get me wrong Ozen may have some studs but Brenham's whole team is full of Div I talent.  If Brenham does lose it won't be by a 20-4A team.

The only team that can be compared to Brenham that the Panthers have faced is Memorial... we know how that turned out... Ozen is hot right now, but they can't beat a team that is just as athletic as they are, has great lines on both sides of the ball, and is a legitimate chance to win state. I hope Ozen wins with all that is in me, but I just don't see it happening... Brenham has way too much depth across the board.

This remeinds me alot of the year central beat BH and met Brenham in the 2nd round, but Brenham is not as good as that team was, I think Ozen turns alot of heads with this game, they have to good athletes but its going to take more then that to beat brenham, hopefully Nelsons gets his panthers heads right, seems like their peaking at the right time

I don't doubt Brenham is a good team but to say that they can be likened to memorial is a bit of stretch. ;) btw when Ozen played memorial Green did not play and our starting RB played QB most of the game.  Crown Brenham King if you like, they are beatable and This could very well be the week.

Brenham wins going away, Ozen has not faced a defense anywhere close to what Brenham has.
Brenham's a 4A school with 5A talent.  Comperable to PAM.  I worry more about Ozen's coaches than I do the kids possibly calling a bad game.....

    • Starting pitching has been shaky the last few weeks due to some injuries outside of Hagen Smith.  He goes tomorrow, so y’all should be fine
    • Manchin may get it but any mention of the radical left that wanted to get rid of the filibuster and end almost 220 years of history because the Democrats are mad?  The House and Senate are obviously different legislative bodies with entirely different election processes and rules for a reason. The House can vote on laws with a simple majority vote. The Senate put rules in place that it would make it much tougher to pass laws. Laws should be difficult to pass. The Senate is often the holdup of the right and left. It takes 60 votes to break the filibuster so any law will almost certainly require agreement at least in part, from opposing sides of an issue. Because they can’t get laws passed, the radical left is like a baby having a tantrum and wants to change over 200 years of history and make it potentially ridiculously easy to pass laws. I have seen current poll maps and it is possible for the Republicans to sweep into complete power in November but by the tiniest margin. That would possibly mean that a single vote margin in both houses could enact what you might call the radical right laws. There would be nothing that the Democrats could do to stop any legislation whatsoever if the left (they are all radical, minus Manchin) got their filibuster rule changed.  That is where the current filibuster comes into play as any new law would require several Democrats to agree with the majority Republicans and vice versa.  Do you want the potential for your radical right to have free rein as the radical left wants by killing the filibuster or is the radical left just as (if not more) dangerous? Let’s see if we have a history in this area? Oh yeah, the Democrats changed the rules in the Senate to allow federal judges to not have to overcome the filibuster. Obama was not getting his federal judge nominations passed and being angry, they changed the rules instead of nominating more moderate justices. They were warned that it would come back to bite them. They didn’t care and chose the nuclear option to change the rules. Oops! Any guess how Trump got all of his Supreme Court nominees passed against strong Democrat opposition? The Democrats got rid of the filibuster for federal judges after another tantrum   So when you are so worried about the radical right, are you equally concerned in what the radical left is always doing by changing rules and history which were put into place just for situations like we are in? So while Manchin gets it, what about his other 50 colleagues (49 + Harris)?  What concerns you more, Abbott and Paxton or the Democrats who want to make it to where if the Republicans do take over, they can go wild… at least in your mind?
    • MODS please remove that ISD twitter link! I had no idea it would copy the whole posting. I only highlighted the portion about the venue change. Sorry about that!
    • See why I don't trust my Hogs?
    • Come on dude, don’t take anything away from the kids on the field. If you want to talk uncharacteristic, we made what 3 or 4 errors in game one. Y’all had 2 EARNED runs.  Defense is normally our strong suit. Your ace didn’t strike out a single one of our kids. Like I said also, you did not out hit us in game 1. Hell you barley out hit us in game 2. We had all the uncharacteristic walks. Josh pitched a hell of a game is what made that game what it was.
