The funny thing is that it has been 3-4 years since any of the HJ faithful have been on here claiming that they would win state easily or walk all over someone!!!!!

The trash talkers have been a plenty for other schools in the area, but not from the Hawk faithful!!!
So keep on keepin on and see where that gets you!!!!!
that's not completely true.  i think several of us talk trash every year, right after the hawks prove
everyone wrong.  again.
I sure hope the Silsbee fans are reading this comment.  The nerve of some HJ fans..... ;D
Yeah the nerve of any HJ fan to pull for their team....man I cant get over anyone thinking they have a chance to beat Silsbee this year. I totally agree blue....And I have been on this site for a long time and followed all of the HJ threads, I dont remember anyone getting on here and saying they would win state easily....even in 2007 when we did. No matter what their are a lot of things that have to fall in place to go all the way, in a state as big as texas it is a major accomplishment to go all the way, If Silsbee wins it all I will be the first to get on here and congratulate them.....I' m just really happy that BOTH hj and silsbee offer good tough competition to each other, that will only help both squads down the road.

Sorry to pee on your pyromania.....lol Silsbee is the favorite right now but I cant wait until later in the season and see how we progress.
Oh-hhhhh, so you're really saying Silsbee is the favorite BUT you will probably beat the favorites as you normally do. >:(

That is exactly what I meant....just like we always do ;)

HJ will lose to Silsbee by 25 at home and by 35 at Silsbee.  Please, it is so very well established that HJ should not even get on the floor for these games.
I wish you really thought this way. But Silsbee see thru this mockery 8)

I am merely stating the consensus opinion of this board.  Certainly, Silsbee sees through it and that is just another reason why HJ cant get an edge and hasn't a prayer.

A consensus?? When did 2-3 people make the entire board a consensus?

BTW, the "woe is me" talk is getting pretty lame. ::)
Permit me to suggest that you take a recount.  I believe you will find considerably more than 2 or 3.  It is important that one be able to distinguish between sarcasm and real beliefs.  Some believe that the best way to illustrate absurdity is by being absurd.

Nash, when have you ever made a comment on this board that wasn't sarcastic? I just figured that was how you spoke all the time.

Took that as you speaking the truth, in your special way. ;)
Obivously I am a die hard HJ fan.  Although you can never tell about a basketball game, I am thinking that HJ has a better chance than many posters here do.  On paper, its no contest- Silsbee all the way.  But on the court, with intangibles, I believe Hj will be able to compete quite well and hope I dont have to eat my words.  My comments were an obvious barb at some who have said it will be no contest.

Thanks, Nash.  Do you have the authority to forfeit the HJ games to Silsbee?  If so, please do.  It will save the time and money involved in playing these games and also could prevent any injuries.  Just do the manly thing and forfeit. ::)
I think you have a good idea there.  Let me consult with Bluedove and, if he concurs, will do all in my power to "get her done" in spite of the family unrest it may create.

Let me say this one more time just for grins  ;D The majority of Silsbbe's offense comes off defensive pressure and HJ won't turn the ball over, so this will become a possession type game late. The club with the best half court sets and the one that hits the clutch free throws will win. When you throw in the home court atmosphere at each place you have your favorite.Tigers at Silsbee,Hawk at Sour Lake and an absolute toss up on a neutral floor.Sounds familiar doesn't it ????????????

From all the HJ games I have seen this year, the Hawks get a ton of points off defensive pressure as well. Personally, I like Silsbee's halfcourt game over HJ's.
Is there any part of Silsbees game that you dont like over HJs?

But why not state that both teams get the majority of their points off defensive pressure rather than just saying Silsbee?
Maybe his perception was that Silsbee got a larger percentage of their points off defensive pressure than HJ.  Not that he is necessarily correct, but he is certainly more than entitled to his own thought on that.

    • Manchin may get it but any mention of the radical left that wanted to get rid of the filibuster and end almost 220 years of history because the Democrats are mad?  The House and Senate are obviously different legislative bodies with entirely different election processes and rules for a reason. The House can vote on laws with a simple majority vote. The Senate put rules in place that it would make it much tougher to pass laws. Laws should be difficult to pass. The Senate is often the holdup of the right and left. It takes 60 votes to break the filibuster so any law will almost certainly require agreement at least in part, from opposing sides of an issue. Because they can’t get laws passed, the radical left is like a baby having a tantrum and wants to change over 200 years of history and make it potentially ridiculously easy to pass laws. I have seen current poll maps and it is possible for the Republicans to sweep into complete power in November but by the tiniest margin. That would possibly mean that a single vote margin in both houses could enact what you might call the radical right laws. There would be nothing that the Democrats could do to stop any legislation whatsoever if the left (they are all radical, minus Manchin) got their filibuster rule changed.  That is where the current filibuster comes into play as any new law would require several Democrats to agree with the majority Republicans and vice versa.  Do you want the potential for your radical right to have free rein as the radical left wants by killing the filibuster or is the radical left just as (if not more) dangerous? Let’s see if we have a history in this area? Oh yeah, the Democrats changed the rules in the Senate to allow federal judges to not have to overcome the filibuster. Obama was not getting his federal judge nominations passed and being angry, they changed the rules instead of nominating more moderate justices. They were warned that it would come back to bite them. They didn’t care and chose the nuclear option to change the rules. Oops! Any guess how Trump got all of his Supreme Court nominees passed against strong Democrat opposition? The Democrats got rid of the filibuster for federal judges after another tantrum   So when you are so worried about the radical right, are you equally concerned in what the radical left is always doing by changing rules and history which were put into place just for situations like we are in? So while Manchin gets it, what about his other 50 colleagues (49 + Harris)?  What concerns you more, Abbott and Paxton or the Democrats who want to make it to where if the Republicans do take over, they can go wild… at least in your mind?
    • MODS please remove that ISD twitter link! I had no idea it would copy the whole posting. I only highlighted the portion about the venue change. Sorry about that!
    • See why I don't trust my Hogs?
    • Come on dude, don’t take anything away from the kids on the field. If you want to talk uncharacteristic, we made what 3 or 4 errors in game one. Y’all had 2 EARNED runs.  Defense is normally our strong suit. Your ace didn’t strike out a single one of our kids. Like I said also, you did not out hit us in game 1. Hell you barley out hit us in game 2. We had all the uncharacteristic walks. Josh pitched a hell of a game is what made that game what it was.
