Both defenses really played their heart out in this one.  Coldspring really had some shots at winning with a couple of drives stalling inside the Kirbyville 20 yard line.  I was really impressed with Kirbyville's speed on the edges to contain Trojans.  Kirbyville played better tonight and desrvedly won a tough game.  Coldspring has to get better at blocking at the point of attack with their big line.  It was a great game, wish Coldspring could have won, but it was a nice early season test for the Trojans who have a fairly difficult pre-district schedule. Congratulations to Kirbyville on a nice win, and good luck the rest of the way hopefully we can meet up again sometime around November.

[/quote] Coldspring played us a very tough game for a change. Both teams will get better as the season progresses. Our offense is out of sync and everybody that was there for sure know this......oh well, here come them Newton Eagles!

Kirbyville was sloppy and out of sync for most of the night on offense.  The defense really cranked things up a notch and put the clamps on those speedy backs...Bryant and Cummings.  Scott their QB could run than dang draw off the right to a T!  Coldspring will be fine as the season progresses.  Both teams came out of this with a lot of work for the next week.

The defense had a FANTASTIC game! Second half the cats' O looked like they were starting to knock some of the rust off. As for the rest of the season.. As much as I  love to watch him run it can't just be the Ford show. He has got a lot of talent but he is a marked man if our playbook consists of #1 to the left, #1 to the right, #1 up the middle. It's not productive and it is just going to get a great athlete injured. The second half Alverez opened it up more with the pass and let a few other backs get a hand on the ball and things started to happen. There is no doubt that Ford is one of our key players. I am just saying, give the guy half a chance to perform like we all know he can. Also what happended with Cucancic? He blocked tons, made one key run but he was not utilized like you would expect last years district mvp. As for little Will Tyler. The young man was a machine last night. Great seeing him on offense. With his speed(for his build) strength and agressive style he could soften up a defense so that our shake and bake runners can pick them apart. Put the ball in his hands and the D wont have to come after him, he will be heading straight for them. LOVE IT!
Way to go cat's you made us proud.
