PURPLE 4EVER
IKE will..... TURN NORTH! Coop.... What is the strongest hurricane to hit New England? If Ike turns north and goes up the east coast, talk about a huge miss on the Long Island, Rhode Island, and Conn. shore line. Would be double worse if the eye wall went just west of Manhattan. Talk about a storm surge going into Hudson Bay. Lets hope it turns north then doubles back east.
KFDM COOP
I would have to look back on the New England storm.
WOS87
I would have to look back on the New England storm. The 1938 storm that hit Long Island, Connecticut and Rhode Island has to rank up there

RonBurgundy68
What percent is there that it moves west across florida and into the gulf?
HoopInsider_Cooper
I'm no where near an expert, just going by what was/is/has been explained to me. Ike does have a chance to get into the gulf but, wouldn't likely go far without heading north, due to several factors: 1) Strong storms will find an easy weakness in a ridge then take off or get taken away by any trough 2) Gulf westerlies (dont ask). If I lived in Florida, or knew someone there, there would be some major cause for concern but don't think Ike hits as a Cat 5. But heck, Cat 1 is enough for me! Mr. Buddy Garrity
i've seen 2 tracks that take it to SP/PA next week, BUT all the others, and there is alot that take it straight into N.O./Mississippi.Maybe Gustav was just a quiz, and Ike is the test.
