Saw that last night.

Pretty cool and I agree, keep that coach!!

Now they get La Porte.

On one hand, I hope the Dawgs do what it takes to win, and stop there. Same time, I know the staff will want to continue improving, and not let there get to be any complaceny since a second round match against either opponent will be tough, and they will not let the young men lose focus and repeat last year's disaster.

If I remember right, Northbrook was able to make this great, first time achievement because of a forfeit by Westbury. Westbury had a player pass in a tragedy a couple days before a game, and decided to forfeit the contest out of respect to the young man, and provide time for the school & community to remember & give solace to each other.

Found it. I thought I remembered something about this. Pretty sad deal. Young man was shot almost right on campus.

I am a proud 95 graduate of NorthBrook, was on the Bandoleras which is their dance team and now over here in PNG land now because of my hubby that is from Groves. I have been watching along all season and keeping up with the standings.

They deserve to be proud as they won quite a few games this season as well and yes the Westbury forfeit helped them get here, I dont want to take anything away from their hard work. I was crying happy tears while watching the coach get his Gatorade bath.

I know LaPorte will win against them but I hope they take some moments this week to really take in this great achievement.

Now for my serious question, why on earth did they schedule the game for Thursday?  I wanted to go see them and eat at Don'Key. I will be watching via the stream. R-A-I-D-E-R-S.

They may have had someone asking to use the stadium on Friday. I’m not sure.

Regrettably, there’s no stream or broadcast of the game. UIL won’t let LPsportsNET broadcast. I’ve been told by the broadcast group UIL is really pressuring folks to force them to take a contract with their preferred broadcast partners.

Horrible. After the taxpayers spent all that money on broadcast capabilities. The governing arm turns the playoffs into a money grab. They could at least allow the school to broadcast and let the other services pick it up too

The school can broadcast the game...unless its changed if its a true academic broadcast that's ad free they have the ability to do so...

If they sell ads then its not an academic broadcast and would have to broadcast on NFHS where they'd be compensated

Pretty sure the La Porte broadcast is not a school funded and led broadcast. It's a privately owned broadcast much like what we do here except it's video. Taxpayers have nothing to do with those broadcasts.

It's my understanding that all school funded and led broadcast entities can do their school playoff games. Just have to coordinate with UIL.

My guess is LaPorte wanted Thur...being a heavy favorite they are likely wanting an extra day to prepare for the second round

I believe you're correct. LPsportsNET is recognized as the 'official broadcast' for LP sports as a partnership, and the students work the cameras, etc. as part of a class curriculum. But, it's funded by advertisers and community support. It doesn't receive school funding. The students get course credit if enrolled in the multimedia class. Some students just help out & I think the two brothers pay them a little for the help. But, don't quote me on it.

I know PNG has an amazing student led broadcast...they are able to still stream most rounds unless its one of the 4 exclusive games....I think they do have some ads in the regular season but they just don't run them in the playoffs

This is correct.

Yes. It is completely school run and funded and can do playoff games as long as they do not run ads during playoff games.

Could be. I know last year they hosted a first round game. I think it was Silsbee and Hitchcock? I don't see them hosting a local coverage area team this year. I don't know if anyone out of area is playing there. I kind of doubt it.

LP game is the only game being played there this week.

I am quite certain the decision to play Thursday was a strategic decision.

With LPISD not voting for the VATRE (like every other ISD in Harris County voted them down), I doubt if the streaming of LP activities will be incorporated into the school budget. It will probably remain the same, maybe become small subscription to cover more of the costs, or they may finally succumb to UIL. I have no idea.

I know Harris County--approving the largest tax hike in history without voter approval--probably hurt all the local VATRES that were up for a vote. People are stretched.
