We do have the internet.  Why don’t you find a statement by another president in the public record and prove me wrong? There are public records of many sorts dating all the way back to 1789. I looked and I couldn’t find one. Unless you can my statement stands as fact.

Benedict Arnold was a war hero. There is no documented proof that Washington ever said anything bad about him when he became president, but rumor has it that it was a distinct possibility.

There is no evidence in the public record. That doesn’t mean a few haven’t thought it or even said it privately. There are no statements on the record, however.
