He struggled with control the last few starts but still had better ERA than several on the staff. At best I think this was a push. I just think we needed an arm more than we needed a bat. I liked Arrighetti, but he had some very early exits. We do need pitching more than OFs. Play just now…..Straw is super fast, but not that fast. Lol Quote
AggiesAreWe Posted August 4 Report Posted August 4 Lose 3-1. Arlington about to lose so lead stays 2.5 to them and Seattle who are off tonight. Quote
AggiesAreWe Posted August 4 Report Posted August 4 Astros had 10 hits tonight but can only score 1 run. Javier actually had a quality start going 6 innings, giving up 3 runs on 7 hits. 2 K's, BB. Astro pitching did it's job tonight. myrecordwashorrible 1 Quote

AggiesAreWe Posted Wednesday at 02:38 AM Report Posted Wednesday at 02:38 AM 7-2 win for Houston. Another quality start for an Astro pitcher. Wesneski went 6 IP, giving up 2 runs on 4 hits, 4 K's, 2 BB. Sousa and De Los Santos with 3 shutout innings. Houston has now won 12 of last 14. rupert3, baddog, myrecordwashorrible and 1 other 4 Quote

I don't think he go his foot on the bag until after the tag. Even the great ones make mistakes and him not sliding was simply very bad baseball. Tough loss to take today. Real tough loss! Quote

That and the fact that Houston didn't score a run when the game was tied 3-3 in bottom of 7th and Astros had runners at 2nd and 3rd with no outs. Another good pitching game gone to waste. navydawg31, myrecordwashorrible and rupert3 3 Quote

AggiesAreWe Posted 4 hours ago Report Posted 4 hours ago In mid May when Houston was 11 games below .500 (19-30), their team ERA reached a season high of 6.47, the worst in all of MLB. As of August 10, the Astro team ERA is 4.59, the lowest it's been since April. That's roughly 2 runs less. It's still 12th in AL but very much improved. Houston's offense since mid May has fallen off a bit when the Astros were batting .263 as a team and averaging around 5.3 runs per game which led the AL. Now the Houston offense is at .246 team batting average and averaging 4.7 runs per game. Both categories are still top 3 in AL. I stated back at the end of May that I was willing to give up some of that hot hitting if it meant the pitching would get better. I felt that was the key to get Houston winning. Well, Astro pitching has got much better and the hitting fell off some but low and behold they are above .500 and first in division. Pitching is what matters the most in MLB and nobody can convince me otherwise. rupert3 1 Quote

Everything else on the squad can be slightly below average and you've got a chance if you can just get in the playoffs. This is of course not the Astros squad this season just a thought in general.
