While I’m one of the 47% minority, I don’t carry. My home is a different matter entirely.

His parents also warned him not to confront the officers. Also, it didn’t appear to me that he was in any way assisting the woman. Looked as if he was almost attacking her. He still shouldn’t be dead, but hey, poke the bear.

I was finding myself going to places that I normally wouldn't without a gun....made me think I was putting myself in dumb places

Neighbor is a retired policeman then detective for a local police department. He used to work with the HPD Gang/Drug Task Force on special assignments occasionally. He would tell me he felt 'naked' without carrying his firearm--even on vacation. I asked him once if he'd ever had to use it. He said 'No.'

He knows some of my background. He asked if I'd ever had to use my training. I told him 'Yes, and that's why I don't carry.'

This is what I mentioned a few post ago - I've read articles of people that have had to use their training, and they have difficulty dealing with it. I hope I never put myself in the situation to make that choice. I'm not a huge hunter because I'm not a fan of killing animals.  I will do it for meat, but never for trophy.

It is a CNN article using "sources' - so it could likely not be true......but if it is.....

Can we stop with the narrative he just happen to be there helping folks.......He's an illegal protestor twice that we know of (if true)

And if true, it was just a matter of time before he would get hurt.....or dead

I’m still waiting on the purported body cam footage. I don’t think it will paint the incident with Mr. Pretti in any better light. But, in light of new information posted, I think the ‘totality’ argument established by SCOTUS in LEO use of deadly force has been satisfied if the new evidence is proven out.

Have you ever conceal carried on your person? If so, did you tuck it in the backside of your pants? That doesn’t seem like a logical place to carry. I’m going out on a limb and say Pretti had another gun in front. People resisting keep their hands in front to make it difficult to cuff them behind. With hands tucked in front and possibly another gun, I can see how he was shot very easily.

If he had a second gun Trump would’ve jumped all over it, and the border patrol as well. Anything to make this ugly event look a little better for him. They put out a pic of his gun almost immediately. If there had been two you better believe they would’ve let us know

I’m not a very good concealer even with a 380 lol - I have a waist stretch holster, but it feels like I’m wearing a girdle😭

so I wear it on my front side with my shirt over it.

We all have our own biases, but let’s PRETEND. The year is 2029 and the democrats have unsurprisingly recaptured the presidency, and control both chambers of Congress after winning only the house in 2026. The new President sends federal agents to Texas to try and flip the state permanently blue, and will use the voting records surrendered by Greg Abbott to the Trump administration back in late 2025 to do so. Their plan is to root out any discrepancies that can be found where voters registered in the wrong precinct, didn’t sign their voter ID card, etc.  Unfortunately, anyone who was loyal to the previous Trump administration was purged from their federal job within two weeks of the New Democrat President taking office. ICE? Completely purged of Trump loyalists and replaced by young militants. BLM, ANTIFA, etc… and they are very well aware of what they can get away with legally-they’ve been paying attention the last four years. 
 

You find yourself on a brisk late fall afternoon headed to watch a football game in the Houston area… you are forced to stop at a checkpoint when you get down off of the interstate and the “new” ICE agents spot the faded “Trump 2024” bumper sticker that you’ve been meaning to scrape off the back glass, and now they’re ordering you and your wife out of the car. These guys are yelling contradictory orders at you, and you freeze in confusion.  They snatch open your door and yank you from the car, then throw you face first on the pavement. The same thing happens to your wife, and you look on in horror under the car to see a “New” ICE agent pressing his knee pad onto your wife’s head, grinding her face into the asphalt. You protest her mistreatment, and in the resulting struggle you are killed in a hail of gunfire. Within 30 minutes the entire administration talks about how you are a fascist, and the talking heads will be pointing out your voting history (and posts on political message boards) as “proof” that you are a domestic terrorist who set out from home that day intending to kill federal agents. 
 

Politics are like a penduluum. It swings one way, then it goes back the other. In 2000, they wrote an obituary for the Dems thinking that they’d never win another presidency. They said the same thing about the Rs never winning again after Obama was reelected in 2012.

People seem to forget that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.  The things that we’re okay with today, because it’s “our” side that’s doing them, will be revisited upon us in due time. We ought to be more focused on right and wrong, and how we’d feel if it were done to “us” instead of “them.”
