Woodville: 9-2 District 12 runner ups coming off a 56-41 comeback win over West Rusk

Edgewood: 9-2 District 9 champs coming off a 42-39 squeaker over New Boston

Any thoughts on this match up?

I expect a good competitive game this week.  I am going with Woodville in a close one.  Woodville returns some defensive help from injury this week.  We had a spark last week and I think it continues.

Elite QB matchup...pointsy

Edgewood was the only team that won from their district, and they just squeaked by a 4 seed.   If Woodville can bring last weeks 2nd half energy, I think they can move on to Round 3.

kinda similar to the the districts 9 and 10 in 4A-D1 in matchups. Edgewood is pretty good this year, though. Beat Commerce, competitive loss to 11-0 Troup, reasonable loss to 3A-D1 Palmer. I hope Woodville keeps this spark going, but Edgewood is a far cry better than all of the bad district teams that Woodville squeaked by at the end of the season, and West Rusk wasn't exactly some powerhouse that Woodville had to make a big comeback against.

EW has the best qb and receiver group we've seen since we faced Hitchcock a few years back. D1 qb and at least 2 D1 receivers I believe. Defense struggles but some of those receivers also play in the secondary and they're lurking to make you pay if you make a mistake.Young and talented NB was driving for a game winning score last game but DB/WR #7 put an end to that with an interception

They put 42 points on Newton last year but they have no defense. Newton put 84 on Edgewood. They return their QB but lost their receivers. This team is beatable.

West Rusk is far more talented defensively than Edgewood....edgewood is better than WR offensively and Troup beat both teams by 2 scores, 12 and 14 points, respectively.

Agreed. 2-3 stops per half would be even better. I don't see EW stopping WV's offense!

They shouldn't be able to stop us if the play calling is legit. Need to stay away from turnovers also. We've done good on that the majority of the year but have had more turnovers than normal the last couple games. Two crucial ones on kickoff returns

Yeah those special teams turnovers were uncalled for. Field the ball, block and run forward. The trickery is not necessary!
