Still, if he were to be cancelled, I’d prefer it be the old-fashioned way. Can the show because it stinks. Although, I do very much like the idea of local affiliates taking over the power of choice in programming. AggiesAreWe 1 Quote

I can read about it Wednesday without propping up his ratings. AggiesAreWe, thetragichippy and LumRaiderFan 2 1 Quote

baddog Posted 4 hours ago Author Report Posted 4 hours ago Jimmy Kimmel has NOT been silenced, so there goes the “free speech” angle. On the other hand, Charlie Kirk was taken out to silence him. Where is his freedom to speak? The irony is Kirk’s platform has been magnified thousands of times over, while Kimmel’s audience has dwindled, but he is still free to speak his mind. Quote
thetragichippy Posted 4 hours ago Report Posted 4 hours ago While I didn't watch it , I did see clips of it on social media. I think his explanation (definitely not an apology) was enough to satisfy Disney and ABC. The question is was it enough to satisfy Nexstar, Sinclair and the millions of people he offended........... AggiesAreWe Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago Don't know how true this is but I saw where ABC is threatening Nexstar, Sinclair and others with not providing SEC football broadcasts to those companies if they don't air Jimmy. Sounds made up to me. I have not tried to verify. Quote

Sounds made up to me. I have not tried to verify. Yeah. Sounds kind of fishy. They'd be sticking the knife in their own back since they pay millions for the rights, then the affiliates pay them. College football is a much bigger draw than Kimmel. The major over-the-air networks are basically empty shell corporations without their affiliates. Advertisers aren't going to pay enough for Disney/ABC to even compete to purchase sports programming without the affiliates. They'd lose a much larger audience if they moved everything strictly to ESPN. Many aren't going to pay. Especially nowadays. Advertisers wouldn't be happy about that move either. I think if Disney/ABC want to play chicken with their affiliates, Nexstar and Sinclair may have the upper hand. AggiesAreWe 1 Quote
