A new coach and 10 returning starters will try to lead Hamshire-Fannett back to the playoffs for the first time since 2003. Coach Walt Mangan takes over a Hamshire-Fannett program that has struggled for the last few years. Hopefully the change is what the Longhorns need to get back over the hump.

Key Wins Last Year:

Splendora (10-7)

Orangefield (20-7)

Last Year’s Scores:

Hamshire-Fannett 10 Splendora 7

Hamshire-Fannett 12 Liberty 0

East Chambers 20 Hamshire-Fannett 17

WO-S 54 Hamshire-Fannett 0

Hardin-Jefferson 13 Hamshire-Fannett 7

Silsbee 13 Hamshire-Fannett 7

Jasper 12 Hamshire-Fannett 7

Hamshire-Fannett 20 Orangefield 7

Bridge City 27 Hamshire-Fannett 7

Kirbyville 39 Hamshire-Fannett 7

Offensive Summary

The Longhorn offense struggled all throughout the 2006 season, averaging just 9 points per game. 7 starters are back for the 2007 season and will try to turn that number around. QB Randall Courville is back and will be the offensive leader for the ‘Horns this season. The Hamshire-Fannett offensive line should be very good with big men Derek Moss, Patrick Mueller, Alex Breaux and Dillon Kotz leading the way. Another big factor back is RB Hagen Daigle. Look for the Longhorn offense to be more productive this season.

Other Offensive Impact Players:

Zack McMahon (TE)

Defensive Summary

Only 3 starters return for the Longhorn defense in 2007. Hamshire-Fannett’s defense gave up just 19 points per game last year and actually kept the ‘Horns in most of their games in 2006. DE Jake Koehl saw a lot of playing time as a sophomore last season and should improve on his 42 tackles from a year ago. The Longhorn secondary will be led by FS Cameron Burrell and CB Calvin Johnson. RB Daigle will also help out in the secondary after he nabbed 5 interceptions last year.

Other Defensive Impact Players:

Reggie Boykin (LB)

The Longhorns open their 2007 season with a week 0 matchup with defending 22-3A champion Splendora at home. Week 1 will see the ‘Horns travel to Liberty in what is usually a very close game. They will close out non-district play with a home game with defending 24-2A champion East Chambers. The Longhorns open 21-3A play with a trip to West Orange-Stark to take on the Mustangs. Hamshire-Fannett must face the top three picks in the district on the road as they travel to WO-S, Silsbee and Kirbyville. Here is the complete 2007 schedule for the Hamshire-Fannett Longhorns……

Travis Moore and Randall Courville will dominate the Hamshire-Fannett football world. That Reciever/QB connection will be UNSTOPPABLE in district 21 3A. Look for HF to win state or at least go 3 to 4 rounds deep in the playoffs.

wow your crazy......

Good luck to the Horns this year bc always enjoyed watching your teams over the years. Your kids always play hard and good hard noised kids that never give up. Been down for a while but maybe this year will be better for you guys. Good luck.
