District 12-5A-II Co-Champions

The Nederland Bulldogs settled comfortably into their new district, 12-5A-II, tying with rival Port Neches-Groves for the district championship.  While Head Coach Monte Barrow acknowledges that the 2019 Bulldogs will be young in some spots, but he does have a good core of veterans (5 starters on each side of the ball return) who stand ready to defend their district title.

Offense:

Five starters return to the Nederland offense in 2019.  Senior Bryce McMorris (a part time starter in 2018) will take over the full time duty at quarterback. Junior running backs Kade Scott (12-5A-II Newcomer of the Year) and Josh Mazyk return to key the Bulldog running game.  Also seeing time in the backfield will be sophomore Kyndon Fusilier, who will see time at the slot.  Senior wide outs Bryson Garrett and Kamden Grant will key a Nederland receiver corp which will also include junior Rene Cunningham.  Seniors Jonathan Nguyen (1st team all-district) and Jadon Windon return to lead an otherwise young offensive which will include senior Logan Anderson and sophomore Mike Marshall.

Defense:

Five starters return to the Bulldog 3-4 defense in 2019.  Senior lineman Brock Holten will lead a line which will also feature senior Jack Laughlin, junior Jose Fuentes and sophomore Ricky Johnson. Junior outside linebacker Kerrington Broussard (1st team all-district) and senior linebacker Blaze Crowder-Brown will lead a group that will also include senior Mika Weaver and sophomore Jaice Beck.  Senior cornerbacks Logan Nguyen (2nd team all-district) and Cedric Pete will lead a Bulldog secondary which will also feature senior safety Treece Wallace and junior safety Evan Whitehead.

Excited for this team here, lots of great senior leadership and lots of young stars on the team. Team is “young” but due to several freshman and sophomores last year on the team starting they have a year or two of experience. Thunder and lightning of Kade Scott and Josh Mazyk at the running back position should be exciting to watch,

I am too... hate to say it but this could be the last Nederland vs BMT school for some years... going to cherish the central Nederland battles winner become district Champs, early ozen years was a lot of fun early years the last several years of the school it wasn’t fair to the kids of the revolving door at the HC gig but that’s water under the bridge now, lots of great talent from all three schools on the field. Plus The Butch is by far the best SETX high school stadium hopefully Nederland can some how get a round 2-4 playoff game there one day, great stadium and not bad seat anywhere in that stadium. Looking forward to a great injury free game, on sept 5th that both teams can come out better than before!

Agreed but if nothing else, I will be able to say that Central won the last meeting between them and the Bulldogs.  Hopefully the TWolves coaching staff is a little more prepared this year for the game.

And Nederland won the series between them. 9-8 Great series through the years. I hope so, glad Nederland wasn’t United first win in school history, it was good to see United full up the stands at bulldog stadium last season.

I don't know how the stands and support will be this coming year after the 2-8 season and only 4 home games this year.  I'll be following them starting with the game at St. Pius.  The game against you all is a Thursday night game so I know our numbers won't be to high, especially if we lose the opener.

Dogs will be solid this year but have some big holes to fill on the OL...may struggle early until these guys figure out the blocking schemes and protections but the talent is there...skill position guys will be very good...Scott and Maczyk will be one of the best 1-2 punches in the backfield around...don't sleep on the Fuselier kid either...he is a talent and Nederland will find a way to get him the ball, whether as a receiver (think he will primarily play the slot) or running the ball some;  think of how Nederland used Yoder, Butler, and Shaw back in the days, just finding ways to get the ball in his hands and let Fuselier go to work; he can scoot! Look for Nederland to move him around the formations quite a bit and just get the ball in his hands

new spark on the helmets this year....

catching buzz about a matte black and gold N helmets to be used?

haven't seen them.  As long as they don't use the all gold uniforms again.   Unless that's when they will use the matte black helmets.

    • No chance in hell that this pos is found guilty.
    • After his silly conviction, President Trump has raised over 200 Million dollars!  The people are seeing through it!  Excellent!
    • Let’s see if joe biden’s words about no one is above the law, made after the rigged trial of President Trump, rings true with his po💩son.  Hopefully, but I’m not going to hold my breath, they put the sorry sob in prison.
    • I liked his no bull crap attitude. He was a man of very few words. Extremely strong and freaky athletic!!! As close as possible to being the best offensive lineman to ever play the game. I hope his family finds peace without him!!! RIP #73
    • Chester, a small town in NE Tyler County.  A town that is seeing growth with the addition of a national chain store and a new school being built.  If you travel 287 toward Dallas from the Golden Triangle you have probably passed through Chester.  Things tend to stay pretty consistent and it is your typical small town.   A trip to state is the buzz around town, and the talk before church services begin on Sunday.  This year’s graduating class will number 11.  We don’t have a radio station that covers the Yellowjackets.  We are never a lead story on any of the news stations that broadcast to our community. With all that said, there is a closeness and sense of pride in our community.  Every community rallies behind their kids as they progress into the playoffs.  We are proud of our boys as they have represented our community well and with class. We invite you to follow our boys as they go to state.  We welcome the greater SETX communities as honorary Yellowjackets.  Tune in, watch live or come to Round Rock personally and join us in supporting the Chester Yellowjackets.  Go ‘Jackets!!! ⚾️💜💛⚾️🟣🟡⚾️💜💛⚾️
